Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 :: Won't Start Even When Charger Is Connected
Aug 6, 2014
I own a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 Laptop that Won't start up . Even when the charger is connected.
I came to know its Static charge build up, but all procedures fails. My charger is working properly when not connected to laptop, the led indication lights up, but when i plug-in the charger to the Laptop, LED indication in the charger goes off. And the Laptop won't even start up.
Dell Inspiron 1150 plug charger in two green lights start flashing replaced battery with identical laptop same thing but if I charge one on another computer then put it in this one it will run till battery goes dead and will not charge
I have a acer aspire 5520 with the following problem: when I start him take fan rotate the battery light comes on, but also nothing. He continues then just restart and should I remove the battery to stop this.
Have this laptop a couple of months for sons schoolwork. Now it wont stay on unless power cord in. When its on, verything goes fine, it battery icon says its at 98%avaliable (plugged in, not charging). As soon as cord is out, it dies completely no power even when start button pushed.
My Inspiron 5421 won't start. I can hear the drive start and after a few seconds I get a 4-beep code (RAM read/write failure). The warranty expired about 6 months ago.
I can only charge my laptop when it is turned off. Even then, I have to play with the cord that goes to the laptop for the charging light to appear. I have purchased a few chargers and it is not the case.
The battery is not the case as well. I was told by Dell that it is the actual chip/piece inside the laptop that has to be replaced.
I have a 6710b which just crapped out on me, the power jack died. I assume....that it was because of the charger (universal) that I got with the PC from a friend. I have a charger for my old laptop (Dell Inspiron 6000) and the plug fits into the 6710b, will this work or will it burn out my new 6710b (which is being taken care of via warranty) The specs of the charger are.....:
Not sure on the power specs of the PC itself, hopefully this is where you guys could help me out. I'm really in a bind here and would like to avoid spending the 75+ dollars HP wants for a new charger. Not to mention, I've heard some bad things about the HP chargers for a while now.
I have an Inspiron N5010 It is just under 2 years old and on it's second charger- the first was replaced by Dell when it stopped working altogehter after only 8 months of use. However for a few weeks now it has intermittently failed to recognise the charger. Three days ago it stopped recognising the charger altogether. I cannot use my laptop unless it is plugged in.
I have the same problem. I have an Inspiron 14z (N411z)
My battery light is flashing orange and the battery icon says that my charger is plugged in but not charging. So when I unplug my laptop it automatically dies. It's been like this for about a week and I've tried everything I found online including
Battery Health says 'System cannot communicate with battery'
Battery Status says ' Battery Charging disabled'
I tried to flash the BIOS by downloading the latest version, however it gives me an error message saying battery needs to be atleast 10% to flash BIOS. Or, it says 'Service already exists'
I bought the laptop in 2011 December, but didn't start using it until October 2012. The laptop is relatively new in terms of usage.
Recently I have a problem with the battery, The laptop detects the battery well and displays the percentage of charge and that the battery is charging etc. (on windows 7), but as soon as I remove the charger, it turns off and does not restart without the charger plugged.
I tried with another battery, same result. I also noticed that the battery light flashes 4 times red, then green again.
I was setting my power saving plans on my Inspiron 17r.
Is there any problem when I set "Maximum Performance" next to video, wifi, java script in all plans on AC connected mode?
I see that by default in some plans there is Balanced or low performance set next to those option even on AC connected. Why is that. From my understanding laptop is not running on battery while connected to AC.
Will it change anything if I set maximum performance on "Power Saving" plan when AC is connected? Will it affect my battery, charging time? I'm confused only because of those default settings.
A few days ago I was using my laptop when the notification that I had to plug in the charger or my computer battery would die popped up. So I plugged it in and used it for a few minutes when suddenly the screen went black and the computer just shut off while plugged in. I noticed that my charging cord had a green light when it was plugged into the wall but the light went off as soon as it connected to my laptop. I've tried letting it charge, I've tried holding down the power button, I've tried removing the battery and plugging it back in, and I've tried a newer charging cord but the computer still won't turn on. No lights come on even when it is plugged into the wall.
I turn my laptop on and the screen is dim but I can see everything fine it works fine but then I plug in the power and the screen brightens up to normal then 3 seconds later it goes blank everythin in the back round is still running everything is fine but I can't do anything because the screen is blank. So I usually have to turn it off and let the battery charge all the way which it does and that works fine. So then I can start it up on the battery working fine but as soon as I go to charge it while its on the screen goes blank...
My inspiron was working fine until yesterday.Today, when I tried to use it,
1.My laptop does not power on (no matter how many ever times I press the power button.)
2.My battery charger's led glows brightly when connected to the power outlet but not the laptop(when power supply is switched on).But once I connect it to the laptop,(and switch the power supply on)the led blinks once and goes off.
3.I disconnected the battery, tried the same thing (without the battery)but the result is the same.
4.I contacted a local service center through phone and they said that it was a reverse current issue.
The web cam will show up at times in the device manager but only under show hidden devices. I have gone through the delete the cam and usb hub from devices, load every update, tried every trouble shooter. and reloaded the operating system.
Inspiron 1525 - Battery will not charge with plug connected. Upgraded to current version Bios with no change in error.. Upgraded from 65W to 90W adaptor with no change in error. Swapped known good battery that had 55% power left and it would not re-charge. Put "suspect" battery that had 0% charged into another machine and it is now charging. My laptop will work on cord power and will work on battery as long as I charge it elsewhere. I suspect that something is wrong with the laptop power interface and it is not allowing the power to transfer to the battery charging function. Is this a software issue (I thought the BIOS upgrade might fix this) or a hardware failure. If it is a hardware failure, can I fix it?
Since yesterday my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop is unable to detect any USB device connected to it. I tried connecting the device to all available ports of laptop but none of them is working. I tried to update the drivers but in troubleshoot window its showing "No plugin found ..drivers are not loaded" and for any USB device connected to it, its showing "Unknown USB device".When I went into its detail its showing that "digital signature is not present". I tried all the ways like install, uninstall, reboot. But its not even able to install/update the drivers. All my USB devices were getting detected and were working fine till 5th Nov.11 before this problem started on 6th Nov.11 and I changed nothing in laptop also no damage been caused to it.
I am just after some Inspiron 15r has developed a fault with white screen. I have tried connecting it to an external monitor through the vga and the hdmi port but still get the same fault.
I'm using an Inspiron 1564 and I just tri ed to watch a movie from Internet on my TV
I checked with configuration panel the sound output on HDMI connection, it was activated but not connected and, of course, I got no sound on my TV set.
What did I forget in order to have the sound over HDMI ?
my first time to own a laptop :D so now i bought this laptop ( inspiron 15r 5520 ) like 4 months ago .. laptop works perfectly fine and i like it :D now though i would like to upgrade it to windows 8 i already got my windows 8 now though im thinking of installing it on my laptop question is this if i were to install it right now what should i do ?? is there any drivers or anything i need to install once more after i install windows 8 ?
I have an Inspiron 5520, with Win 7 Home premium 64 bit and an external Western Digital HDD My passport Essential SE (3.0). The laptop is fairly new, I purchased it last June. From first day it seemed that something was wrong with the connection with the hdd. In case I was even touching the cable of the hdd it was disconnecting for example, and since yesterday it doesn't detect it at all!
The light of the hdd goes on, and I can feel it working, but I get no beep sound on my computer, I dont see the drive on device manager, and in general its nowhere!
I tried the hdd in all four USB ports and nothing. The drive has no problem on other computers (with OS Vista and Win 7). My mouse works perfectly on all four usb ports.I updated the drivers for BIOS and chipset, I run pc check up. I checked both laptop and drive with antivirus and antispyware programs. I reinstalled the driver from WD website.
Manufacturer: dell Model: Ispiron 5520 Rating: 5.6 Processsor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i%-3210M CPU @ 2.50 GHz 2.50 GHz Installed memory (RAM) 6.00 GB (5.86 usable) System type: 64- bit operating system Windows 7
I don't know why, but anything I have open- chrome, games, word, windows, periodicly acts as if it is minimized, except I can still see it. If I am on word, I might be typing. Then it happens, and no matter what I do nothing happens unless I click the window again. That means something else, not an application, is opening and closing in the background. The border color changes when this happens. It happens about every minute to five minutes. I think it might be McAfee, but I'm not sure- I can't uninstall it anyways, wont work enough to uninstall or let me delete the files. I did the whole dell scan thing from their website, everything twas fine it said. Sometimes, my computer also fades black and back on, again and again and again- unless I restart it.
I got a new Inspiron 15R 5520. The problem is I can't boot the laptop from a USB stick like I did on N5040(My 2 years old laptop), and there is no option to do this. First, I hit 'F2' to enter the BIOS setup page, there are only 3 options under the boot device: Hard Drive, CD/DVD, Network. I restart the computer and hit 'F12' to select boot device, still no USB.
Does Dell freeze the function to boot from USB device?
I have had a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 since late august now. Not long ago an error message appeared saying my charger wasn't working. I knew that my battery was messed up. I went to a best buy and I was told that I had to buy a $80 universal charger. I knew right away this was false so I left. Is there anyway I can get a replacement battery off the warranty or some other way?
Just got my Dell Windows 8 laptop and looking at disk management I can see 4 partitions in there in addition to the one containing the OS. See image below.
I've had this laptop for just over a month and the battery capacity is only at 83% (tested with Dell Support Center). A couple of days ago this was at 87%.
If this is normal for the battery to lose capacity so quickly (nearly 20% in just over a month seems a lot to me..) or should I consider asking Dell for a replacement?
