I have an Inspiron N5010 It is just under 2 years old and on it's second charger- the first was replaced by Dell when it stopped working altogehter after only 8 months of use. However for a few weeks now it has intermittently failed to recognise the charger. Three days ago it stopped recognising the charger altogether. I cannot use my laptop unless it is plugged in.

I can only charge my laptop when it is turned off. Even then, I have to play with the cord that goes to the laptop for the charging light to appear. I have purchased a few chargers and it is not the case.
The battery is not the case as well. I was told by Dell that it is the actual chip/piece inside the laptop that has to be replaced.
I have a 6710b which just crapped out on me, the power jack died. I assume....that it was because of the charger (universal) that I got with the PC from a friend. I have a charger for my old laptop (Dell Inspiron 6000) and the plug fits into the 6710b, will this work or will it burn out my new 6710b (which is being taken care of via warranty) The specs of the charger are.....:

My battery light is flashing orange and the battery icon says that my charger is plugged in but not charging. So when I unplug my laptop it automatically dies. It's been like this for about a week and I've tried everything I found online including
Battery Health says 'System cannot communicate with battery'
Battery Status says ' Battery Charging disabled'
I tried to flash the BIOS by downloading the latest version, however it gives me an error message saying battery needs to be atleast 10% to flash BIOS. Or, it says 'Service already exists'

I own a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 Laptop that Won't start up . Even when the charger is connected.
I came to know its Static charge build up, but all procedures fails. My charger is working properly when not connected to laptop,the led indication lights up, but when i plug-in the charger to the Laptop, LED indication in the charger goes off. And the Laptop won't even start up.
Inserted blank DVD to back up files.
Drive makes a noise then posts no CD or DVD inserted, although there is one there.
It will read both types of disc with data on them, but is totally unaware of blank media.
If I check the properties of the drive it shows the disc is full, even if it has already informed me of no disc inserted although there is one there..
Have tried the diagnostic software from Dell but does not flag any faults.
I have a dell n5110 i7 2GHz, 6Go Ram, etc...
Recently I have a problem with the battery, The laptop detects the battery well and displays the percentage of charge and that the battery is charging etc. (on windows 7), but as soon as I remove the charger, it turns off and does not restart without the charger plugged.
I tried with another battery, same result. I also noticed that the battery light flashes 4 times red, then green again.
My laptop model is Dell inspiron n5010 (2011) . It was running fine until today when suddenly while I played game it started lagging, first I thought that probably I run too many app but I ran task manager and saw that my cpu is 100 % and led lamp for hdd is always on. I restarted and saw that right after I click the button the led is on. I ran defrag disk twice.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe USB ports can recognize USB mouses and keyboards. However, it will not recognize external HDDs or her Ipod. So far, I've taken the liberty of reformatting her computer but the problem still persist.
I've updated all the drivers to the latest editions and I have tried multiple methods of resetting the USB. (Complete power down of the laptop, Uninstalled the USBs from Device Manager) Does anyone have any suggestions?

As this HD was often recommended in Internet forums as a replacement for the built-in Fujitsu 60GB, I bought it and tried to make it run today.
Unfortunately, the HD is not recognized.
I used Acronis True Image to copy the contents of the old HD onto the new one, but in Bios only the value for the old HD appears (58GB).
I removed the battery, I tried all kinds of boot-ups to no avail.
I just bought an SSD for my Insiron 3737 along with a caddy so I can replace the CD-RW with a 2nd hard drive. The laptop came by default with a WD 1TB hard drive which I removed and replaced with the new Intel SSD, the WD drive took the place of the CD-RW.
At first I had trouble booting when the WD drive was connected since that one had Windows installed on it as well. After formatting the WD drive I can now boot but a new problem occurs. Windows sees the WD drive a healthy, ready to use drive for a few seconds or minutes after booting and then the hard drive simply vanishes from Disk Management.
I checked the caddy even took it back to where I bought it from so they can check if it's faulty but it seems that's not the problem.

My Dell Inspiron 15 (7537) simply does not recognize the built in touchpad for a couple of days now.
I did run all the tests even the ePSA test and all passed with OK, but never the less there are not tests for the touchpad.
If I unplug the external mouse the mouse pointer dissapears, as a sign that there is no device present.(I tried to install and reinstall the synaptics drivers - Input_Driver_15K08_WN_17.0.13.51_A02 ) but no luck at all.
Furthermore, I tried to boot the system using the windows 7 and 8 installation media, as well as Linux Mint, but there is no mouse pointer unless I plug in an external mouse.
It seams to me that the hardware is faulty.
I still have 1 more month left from the standard warranty, what should I do ?
my Inspiron 17R no longer recognizes when it is unplugged from the AC adapter. This means that when you check the power icon it always claims to be connected, even if it's not, and that the charge meter basically can't be trusted (it'll say it's fully charged when it's not). It also means that it fails to adhere to its power plans because it never goes into battery-only mode. I have contacted my local Dell tech support, but after checking my bios and seeing that my computer recognizes the AC adapter, they didn't know what to do. how to get my laptop to properly recognize when it is and isn't plugged into the power supply?

View 3 Replies View RelatedInspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop running Windows7, and it automatically powers off when I login to my computer.
I tried to run Diagnostics but it will not complete as laptop crashes within 30 seconds or so of logging in. As it crashes there is an audible click.
This happens both when the laptop is on AC Power and Battery, and in safe mode or starting normally.
I have a Inspiron 15 Intel (N5010) laptop with Win7 64bit. when I start my computer with headphones plugged in and then unplug them, no sound comes from the speakers. If I start the laptop with headphones unplugged then there is no problem (also, when I start with the unplugged, then plug the headphones in and then unplug, the sound from the speakers is ok).
I installed the latest audio drivers and codecs. But now that I think of it, I installed latest network drivers from dell site. I have a TOSHIBA MK6461GSYN hard drive and I wonder where could I check if there is a newer firmware available? Checked Toshiba site and they had some update program but that needed a floppy drive.

In order to fix that, I attempted to do a system restore with the Dell Factory Image. However, I received the "Bootmgr is missing" upon the system rebooting. Are there any solutions out there that do not require a Windows 7 re-installation disk, I do not have one. If the solution does require a DVD, where can I order one. I have run diagnostics, it showed error 2000-0413 (LCD cable not detected), but could not finish all diagnostic process, cause it shut down again during CPU memory test.
Is it possible that because of this error computer shut downs then working or it is two separated problems? Can it be that only cable connector causing error or it is a defect of new mother board?

I created a second partition and installed a vanilla Windows 7 on it and booted into it and it still boots slowly.I've tried every form of optimization that various sites, including you, have told other people in forums.
