Jan 10, 2009My friend's laptop isn't charging no matter what she tries doing..It doesn't charge when it's on or off, she tried the charger on a friend's laptop and it works..So wat's the problem?

Dell :: Inspiron 1150 - AC Adapter
Jul 2, 2009an Inspiron 1150 that had problems with the AC adapter (or so we thought) so he went out and bought a working motherboard brand new. I put it all back together and it wont boot.
The fans turn on for a few seconds and the hard drive clicks but i get nothing. m pretty sure it cant be anything with the motherboard since its brand new. I also tried reseating the ram, removing the ram completely, reseating the CPU, unplugging the touchpad, using an external monitor but all i get is nothing.
Dell :: Inspiron 1150 Looping The Loop
Jan 23, 2009My Inspiron 1150 was in normal use last week. Next day I switched it on and it came up with the start screen, Dell, Inspiron 1150, the bar at the bottom screen fills with white as usual and in the top right of the screen it shows F2 setup and F12 boot menu.
Entering either of these does nothing and the whole thing goes round in an endless loop hence the title of the thread.
I have checked as far as I dare inside, checking the memory firmly inserted, battery is fine and the HDD looks OK though I don't have the gadget to check it like the old ones with 2 lines of pins.
Someone said it might be the CMOS battery but since the on-line manual doesn't show where it is, I can't replace it (even if that is the possible cause).

Jun 19, 2012I have an older Inspiron 6400 (looks like the 1505) that isn't charging the battery. The bios indicates that the battery is charging, and that it is performing normally. There isn't a red flashing battery indicator, but when the laptop is powered on there isn't any "green light" indication of the battery, either. The AC adapter performs normally ( Charger is a PA10 (90watt) and it works fine on my D800, and charges that battery normally).
What I don't understand is why the BIOS indicates the battery is charging and that the battery is performing normally. However, when I have the system up and running there isn't a green battery indicator light on the button strip. Let me clarify that statement. During the initial boot phase of start-up there is the green indicator light on the button strip, but as the OS finishes loading this light goes out and the battery doesn't charge.
Could this be caused by a faulty Bios update, or is it something with the battery charging circuit of the motherboard? The laptop operates normally when using the AC adapter, just no indication of the battery charging when the OS is fully loaded. OS is Windows XP Pro (SP3).
Dell Inspiron 1525 :: Plugged In Charging But Battery Not Charging
Oct 12, 2010I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.

Feb 19, 2009I took apart my Dell inspiron 1150 today & removed the fan & ordered a new one being it looks clean yet was not doing its job.
Yet then I noticed an empty slot in the motherboard & wondered what its for?
Does anyone have a picture of the motherboard explaining what the slots are for?
I'm sorta hoping it might be an empty memory slot that will allow me to add more.
Acer :: Aspire 3050-1150 - Intermittent Start
Apr 29, 2009I recently upgraded the CPU in my Acer Aspire 3050-1150 to a Turion XL-56. The first bootup was a breeze, and Windows Vista Home Basic recognized the new chip no problem. Temps ended up being cooler than before the upgrade.
Later that day, comp just shut down. I tried to reboot...comp started but shut off a second or two into loading windows. Next boot attempt the on/off switch wouldn't work at all...appeared dead. I waited a few minutes, took out the AC adapter and windows booted. Next time at bootup, similar pattern, but wouldnt boot even with the AC adapter taken out. This time it booted with the battery out and AC in.
Similar pattern at every bootup...false starts, shuts down at various points, but then eventually boots up after several attempts. I have just been leaving it on, in sleep mode when not in use. I am very afraid of doing a windows update which requires a reboot, so I haven't been doing that.

Nov 26, 2014i am using dell inspiron 15R 5521.. its warranty has just expired on november 3,2014. And now i am facing this charging problem as whenever i connect my charging adapter(charger) to my laptop, it says 'PLUGGED IN BUT NOT CHARGING'. whether i just keep my laptop on charging for an hour or two, it still remains the same and not even a single percent of battery is charged.!! Whether there is some problem with my battery or charger!! i should buy a new battery or not??

Nov 17, 2012My Laptop is 1 year and 5 months old. There are 2 problems I am facing with my battery:
1) When it is charging, at around 86% level, it stops charging and I see an orange light blinking at the battery icon and it continues to blink unless I turn the power off and allow the battery to discharge for a while.
2) at around 45% to 50% level, the battery level suddenly drops to 7% level and then I have to charge again.
Because of these issues I now use my laptop as a desktop. It is always plugged in and I use the option of "Stop Charging" in the windows power settings. how to solve the problem.

Dell Diagnostic has found no problem,I've had trouble getting a hold of customer service. has been to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Complian Control Method Battery driver, which I have done.The only thing I haven't messed with is the battery itself, which doesn't seem to be accessible without damaging the back, which is screwed on and secured well.

May 3, 2012My Inspiron is running on the ac adaptor. The battery icon contains the plug symbol which should mean that it is being charged, but the capacity is indicated as 4% - 'Plugged in not charging'. The battery is new, so presumably the last one was not at the end of its life!

Dell Inspiron N5110 :: Battery Is Not Charging - 0% Available
Mar 10, 2013I have N5110 laptop and machine does not start with battery plugged in.
I have to perform following steps to boot the system:
remove the battery,
drain the charge by holding start button for few seconds
then boot the system.
If I insert battery after system is up, it says battery strength as "0% available".
I am not even able to flash the BIOS as it needs minimum 10% battery to be available.

Dec 29, 2009I bought a Inspiron 1525 in March 2008. As of today the battery is not charging. I called Dell and they told me that I needed a new battery. After spending nearly $135 for a new battery, I am still having the same issue. Unfortunately my laptop is out of warranty. I have read the various forums on here to find a solution, but still nothing. It seems this is a pretty regular issue with the Inspiron 1525 and other Dell laptops. I've updated the BIOS, I blew into both recepticals, and yes, even tried a new battery.

Feb 5, 2015over the past week has only charged intermittently. Sometimes I needed to just twist or nudge the power cord in order for the battery to power up. Other times the message stating that I needed a dell adaptor came up.Yesterday the laptop stopped charging and the battery has reduced to zero. It will not recharge and is therefore no use to me as it needs to be constantly plugged in.I have tried a different power supply (same type) and that will not charge the laptop either. Both chargers are the official Dell ones that were supplied with the machine. I suspect it is not the battery either as it took me over an hour to get any power into the machine. Of course it is out of warranty at almost two years old but has been a great machine and I'm loathe to just scrap it.I have another Dell laptop ( a Vostro) which has suffered exactly the same fate and stopped charging after less than 2 years.Three questions:
1) Am I just unlucky that the same fault has developed in two machines, or is it more common problem in Dell laptops?
2) Is there a way to have it repaired by Dell? I realise i would have to pay, but there menus keep sending me back to buy an extended warranty which I am not eligible for.3) If Dell won't repair (or the cost is prohibitive), Is it possible to disassemble the machine and replace the socket that the power supply plugs into, or would it have to be the whole motherboard that is replaced?

Nov 29, 2012I have had a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 since late august now. Not long ago an error message appeared saying my charger wasn't working. I knew that my battery was messed up. I went to a best buy and I was told that I had to buy a $80 universal charger. I knew right away this was false so I left. Is there anyway I can get a replacement battery off the warranty or some other way?
