View 9 RepliesIn the bottom right corner, a message keeps popping up saying " Low disk space on hard drive D" and the hp total care advisor says I have 5% free space on drive C.
My laptop is only 2 years old. I tried running disk defragmenter, disk cleanup, and I uninstalled a bunch of programs I dont use anymore. None of them helped with this error.
I am so tired of receiving Low Disk Space on recovery (D). I have done everything it asked. Empty Recycle Bin which is EMPTY. I am not a computer wizard but it seems unfair that I have pay over $150.00 year to correct this problem once a year. I have checked a lot of places and it just keeps telling me the same thing. That doesn't work.
I did just install a HP wireless printer 3052A
HP Pavilion dv6000
Windows Vista (home version)
I have a Dell Mini 9, and it is steadily and repeatedly losing what little disk space I have. I ran AVG and panda security and got nothing.
I've done disk cleanup and cleared the history, cache, cookies, and restore points. It's STILL losing space. It'll go up when I restart but then immediately start dropping.
There are no games or music or movies on this thing. I even took all my text files out. The only programs that were added after I got it were office, firefox, and avg.
I am using a HP Pavilion g7-1277dx Notebook PC Model:QE308UA with Windows 7. For some reason, my backups are being saved to the HP_Tools partition and I can't seem to change it. As a result, a window keeps popping up that says Low Disk Space.

I click the button that is suppose to clean the files but when it's done the words "low disk space" pops up again. Can you help me with this problem?
I've opened the my computer and I see Acer (C) It has 0% free space. Underneath acer (C) it says 8.35 MB free of 33.5 GB. I also see Data (D) underneath data d I see 33.1 GB free of 33.2 GB. The last thing I see is something that says unspecified, and underneath it it says DVD RW Drive (E). I don't know what to do next.
I read that Snow Leopard uses about 6GB less disk space than Leopard. I already have Leopard installed so I'm wondering if I upgrade to Snow Leopard do I get about 6GB of space freed up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo 3000 N200. I have 143GB hard drive and only 4GB free space left. I viewed the properties of all the main root folders in the C: Drive and they add up to 65GB so why does it say that i have used 139GB?
The size of the main folders are as follows
Folder Size GB
drivers 0.0054 i
ntel 0.00232
my music 1.87
program files 4.45
swshare 0.282
swtool 3.11

I checked my backups and one is 40GB in size so i tried to delete it but i got a message saying i do not have enough disk space to perform the operation.Even with this there should still be approx 40GB free disk space. What is taking up so much disk space? Is there a large log file running?i cant find it if there is. How can i delete my backup ? I have tried defragmenting the disk too...
I've created a Factory Default Backup with a USB drive with Acer Recovery Management. I see this message which tells me I can delete the recovery partion to free up disk space after I've created the backup but it never gives me the option to do so.
I DO get the option to remove the Driver Recovery Partition after backing it up to USB but not the 10GB Recovery Partition. It's a a HUGE deal on a system that only has a 32GB hard drive.
I performed a system recovery to factory settings that resulted in my Disk space being distributed differently than before. I have a lot of unallocated space as you can see bellow. I need to know how to fix and how to prevent this from happening the next time I perform a recovery. Also, is it normal for the RECOVERY (D) partition to show multiple times in Disk Management ?

I have been having an issue for a while that the computer automatically resumes from standby at seemingly random times. As of late, it is also staying on indefinitely (or until a low battery event at least), despite my settings in Power Options that specify standby after a given amount of time.
This happens when it is plugged in or not, and is (of course) particularly annoying when it is unplugged and in a case that isn't ventilated.
I have checked the system and application event logs, and don't see the kernel-power event when the system resumed, but I don't see any information on why it did so.
Also worth noting: I checked my LAN and WIFI adapter power management settings, and the "allow this device to wake the computer" box is greyed out.
specifically what hardware or software is causing a resume event? Do you know how to ensure that the computer sleeps after a specified period of time when on battery?
i have dell N5010 laptop.it shuts down automatically whenever i restart the windows.i can't even install any new operating system as it turns off automatically.i am sure that it is not due to heat. but after 20 minutes it becomes normal..my laptop configuration:

I have an HP 2000t-2d00 CTO Notebook PC, Model: D6Q45AV.While I shut down my laptop, the computer shuts down with the message saying Shutting Down as normal. However when the screen turns black, the power is still on (lights are still on) and the computer does not shut down.I have waited for it to automatically shut down for 15 minutes, but instead I held onto the power button to manually shut it down. Also, I cannot restart the computer nor put it on sleep mode. When I restart the computer, the restarting screen only appears and does not restart the computer. While trying to put the computer on sleep mode, the screen turns black, but still the power is still on.
Yesterday night when I shut down, I got the Shutting Down message, the screen turned black, and the computer shut down in 10 seconds (all lights are off) as it normally should. Is there a software update that would solve this issue?
However, a problem appeared recently: the laptop seems to overheat and it shuts down automatically when the temperature rises a lot. I installed SpeedFan to check it and see whether it is abnormally high. Sometimes it reaches about 80-90 degrees on the 4 cores and the hard disk. Slightly before it started shutting down, the fan became very loud and it switches on and off continuously. So I don't know where the problem started.

And the event viewer has under the critical error section an error named Kernel power(event id 41)(The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.)
And I will list some of the errors in the event viewer here kernel event tracing(Session "" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000011),ACPI(: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.) ,Ntfs(The default transaction resource manager on volume E: encountered a non-retryable error and could not start. The data contains the error code.)
I have Dell Vostro 1400 and I am facing a very wierd issue. My laptop types automatically in the search or in a browser if it is open and in any application that it can type. It mostly types "asdf;lkj" like this. Again when I use a media player it automatically increase or decreases the volume to the max. and sometimes restart the player. It again sometimes automatically locks my computer.
TRIED THINGS:
1. I have already formated my laptop many times and also updated the BIOS as I thought it as a VIRUS problem. Also, I have tried different antivirus software but all in vain.
2. I have also dislodged my laptop keyboard and using an external keyboard; but this is also not working.
3. Prior to all these I have called DELL Service for support. But they also could not offer me a satisfactory answer.
I own a Dell studio 1555. When I first encountered the auto shut down problem, I ran the diagnostics and found my HDD is crashed. So I replaced with a new 1TB WD. My RAM is of 3GB. After couple of days, this problem started again. Majorly, I see this problem when I am trying to use internet in some browser.
One of the service center person told that it could be a CPU fan problem. He replaced it, but still the problem persists. Warranty period is expired for my laptop.
I was using my laptop the other day and it froze up. Then it shut down by itself. When I tried booting it back up, it says "No bootable devices found" and gives me the options to press F1, F2 or F5 for retrying, setup utility and diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics and it says "All tests passed". The SSD also seems to be recognized as it shows it in the "configuration" tab in diagnostics. I have also tried taking the msata SSD from the 2.5" bay and moving it to the msata slot. Rebooted but shows the same thing. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just borrowed my laptop to a friend and he said when he tried to boot it up he go this message.
The message I get when restarting is non-system disk or disk error, press a key to continue over and over.
When I click f10 before boot up there is a harddisk test option, where it says Hard Disk test failed, no disk installed.
So is it either the harddisk or the motherboard thats a problem? AFAIK nothing new was installed leading up to this. The computer is no longer under warranty.
I just bought the Probook 4710s 5 days ago, and some times when I try to start the computer, it just wrights on the screen Non system disk or disk error, please replace and press any key... I don't have any CD or DVD in CD/DVD unit or any USB keys... when I try to scan the hard disk it reports to me No hard disk found. Every now and than it starts Windows normaly, but it keeps repeating frequently the same boot problem and not beeing able to start my comp.
Does it mean that the hard disk is bad or broken, or it will be soon...or what? Should I return the laptop and ask for replacement?
The space bar on my kb works, but if I hit it on the far right or far left corner it does not register.
if I may be able to bend the button's switch up a little so it's more sensitive.
I have an HP Elitebook 6390P; I remember seeing for the Thinkpads someone could remove the CDROm Drive and put a hard drive into this slot and then put into the cdrom drive.
is it possible with the HP Elitebooks?
Sending my brand new ENVY back for service (on its first day...boo) but baffled as to what might cause this.
Everything works fine on the system except for a handful of keyboard keys:
Space
Enter
Backspace
Up/down arrows (left and right are fine)
Possibly alt (tough to test without the others)
Space bar will send a combination of characters, like zzc^X^Z if you press it a few times (often one press will send all of those characters, while other presses send nothing).
I have had my dv5t 6 days. Every time I check, there is less and less space and I am doing nothing really but surfing and e-mailing, and trying to get the TV tuner to work right. lLast night there was 177GB free, shut it down and went to bed. Checked it after a half hour or so this morning and there was 175 GB, now here I sit in the library and I just checked it again after e-mailing and downloading a 2mb file, and there is 173 GB free. I haven't even begun to use it. Juse a few days ago there was 183.

Last night I did a factory reset of my system and when I set my machine back up and logged into it, it says that the hdd now has a max cap of 104gb, when the true cap is 1tb.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought hp dv8t quad laptop recently. the first time i turned on, treble bar (blue horizontal bar to adust treble that is supposed to appear only when i touch that touch tone above keyboard) came up on middle of screen intermittently. everytime i run other application, this bar would come up and stops other application. i spent over 1 hr with hp tech to fix it. now everytime i turn on, this blue bar still comes up but after i adjust treble via tone control above keyboard, it disappears. tech says there is no hardware defect, but i am wondering if others are like this.
