I just finished installing a new screen on my daughters laptop and, upon powering on, the screen stays black and i get 8 loud beeps. I have checked the connection behind the screen and it is secure. I read a few related posts and held the d button while powering on but nothing happens.

I have a dell inspiron n5040 . Its only 1 month old.since 2days ago everytime i try to turn it on all i get is a blank screen with audio of 7 beeps a pause then 7 more and so on. I have read a few posts about taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 secs and also trying with just the ac power, I don't think this works for my problem. The power and battery lights comes on and the disk holder flashes. So my problem is I TURN ON MY LAPTOP AND THE SCREEN IS BLANK,I HEAR 7 BEEPS ETC.

I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. I've tried to do the test run by pressing "D" but nothing shows up, only a white screen.

However i changed the coin cell battery twice and nothing change still beeps. So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. More over i did a system restore to a windows update a week ago also still beeps at startup.

My Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

My dell Inspiron 15R (5521) is no longer working. It started one day when we my wife was using the laptop and it started beeping and shut down. I thought it was the battery because when I plugged in the AC adapter the light on the end of the AC adapter plug would go out. I figured the battery was shorted. I bought a new battery and it took about 5 days to come in. After a day or so I tried using the laptop again with the original battery and it worked. When the new battery came in I swapped them out and after 3-4 days it failed again. Now it doesn't work at all with either battery. It will turn on but the screen is black. I tried booting it up while holding down the Fn key to go into diagnostic mode. After the fan kits on I get a sequence of beeps and tones. I've attached a video to show you the sequence. Basically it has 6 beeps than 10 beeps than 3 sets of 3 beeps followed by a tone than it does the 3 sets of 3 beeps again and again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had this laptop for 2-3 years and It had a motherboard issue within the first month of getting it, I got a new motherboard and all was dandy, but now there is apparently a system timer failure. The only thing plugged in to it is my charger and the last time I used it I didn't even have internet I just watched a few shows that I had on it and then I closed it when it was running out of power. When I hit the power button it seems like its going to start, and the buttons on it light up and then it starts to beep four times then a break then repeated four times. Nothing appears on the screen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.

I am very upset that my expensive Dell laptop has stopped working when it's less than 2 years old. When I turn it on it beeps 8 times and does this over and over Nothing comes up on screen just black? A friend said I need a new board thing as video card is on that.

Later in the day I proceeded to turn it back on and received the dreadful 7 beeps with a blank screen. For the time that I've had it, I've taken good care of it, (never dropping it etc.) I have read on some of these forums that the 7 beeps could mean a bad motherboard/processor.

I've tried taking the battery out and hold the power button for 2 minutes. After that I tried holding D and the power button but there was to change. I tried an external monitor which did not work either. There are no beeps. It if I leave the laptop switched on for a few mins I hear the windows start up tune.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a problem with my LCD for a while now. For around six months the screen sometimes turns black unless it is at a particular degree to the keyboard. For example, at 90 degrees there is a good chance that the screen will flicker and will mostly be black. More than 90 usually works.
Couple days ago I turned my laptop off and before it shut down left the room. When I came back after 15 minutes I heard the beeping sound. I turned the laptop off immediately. After that, every time I turn on laptop, nothing happens apart from beeping. I tried 'D' and then turn on. Also f12. Nothing changes, screen stays black. I also removed battery and pressed on turn on in order to get rid of excess charge.
Here's the issue:
On boot up, screen is black
Then 3 beeps follow
Then, I opened it up and it became 7 beeps
I have been having issues lately with my Dell. Finally, one day, I tried to start it but it would only beep 8 times. It does nothing else, no screens, nothing. I need it for work.
