I bought the Dell Inspiron 5323 a week ago, now it won't start up at all. The power light is on when plugged in but no battery light when I try to boot without, either way nothing's happening.

I just want to confirm that the BIOS does not allow direct booting of the msata ssd card since the legacy boot options only show the hard drive.
What if the hard drive is removed?
I am using dell insprion 13Z (5323).. purchased 5 months back. When ever I charge the laptop it gets over heated. I have also used inspiron 1464 and latitude as well. But I haven't come across this sort of problem with them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading my Inspiron 5232 from windows 8 to 8.1, I'm no long able to launch the mobility center using the quickset key. I could do that before but now, even after downloading and installing the new releases of quickset for w8.1, I can't do it.
The other 2 keys (one for the audio e the ohter one for special functions) are working fine. I can launch mobility center hitting Windows Key + X key at the same time.
If I go to c drive > Program Files > Dell > QuickSet, , I can see quickset.exe and MobilityCenter.exe. If I click on quickset.exe, the mobility center launches just fine; however, clicking on mobilitycenter.exe does not show anything on screen.
I've also tried to change the compatibility settings with no results.
I see in the forum other people reporting issues with the quickset and windows 8.1 using different system. So, it does not seem a isolate problem.
I'm unable to boot my Inspiron 15R SE laptop. There are no response from the laptop when I pressed the power button. No LED lights, no disk noise ! The only thing I noticed is the power cable light goes out immediately when plugged into the laptop.
I have tried taking the battery and power cable out , hold the power button for 30 seconds , place battery and power cable back then tried rebooting but laptop still won't boot...
For the past week my laptop (which I've been using for only 3 months), running Windows 7, has been lagging. For Example, when I try to check my email using Live Mail, I click on a new email to read and it takes 20-30 seconds before the message loads. NOW it is not booting up. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause" so I let it boot in the diagnostic mode (I think that is what it was called, the only other option other than normal mode, but did not say Safe Mode) and it just goes to the blue background but no button to log in, or any way to do anything that I can see. I haven't loaded any new programs, I'm just running Quicken and Photoshop Elements, Mozilla, & Chrome and Norton anti-virus (courtesy of our Comcast internet service). Last night we tried to defrag the hard drive but that just sat at 2% for hours with no results.
I am trying to boot from a bootable CD and I cannot understand the F12 menus. How do I get the machine to boot from a CD/DVD?

Today when I booted up my laptop, it shows the Dell logo and goes to a screen that only shows me a few things. It says "Boot mode is set to:UEFI; Secure boot:ON" Then there are two categories, "UEFI BOOT: Network" and "OTHER OPTIONS: Setup, Diagnostics, Change boot mode settings" I ran the diagnostics in ePSA and it said there's something wrong with the video card. It gives error 2000-0332 - "Video memory -Video memory integrity test discrepancy"... when I searched for this code, it said the solution is "Flash latest BIOS, retry diagnostics."
I have a Dell Inspiron 1454 which when you press the power button it whirrs slightly (think it's the fan) before doing nothing else except having a blank screen and a white light indicating power to the laptop (solid white). My OS is Win 7 and I've had the laptop a few years now. So far I've tried the following:-
Pressing the D button while powering on to test the display - this works as I get the coloured screens so It can't be a screen fault.
Pressing the FN key whilst powering on to get the POST code - this is seven beeps continuously which seems to common and has to do with the CPU cache?
Tried the obvious removing battery, holing power button for 1 minute to discharge any residual power. Also removed the CMOS battery and put it back in again.
Also tried plugging in an external monitor but nothing showed up. Is it something to do with it being stuck in hibernation?
I have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.
When booting my Dell Inspiron N5050 it goes to dell screen and ithe dell logo and loading line dont move at all for atleast 5 seconds then it goes to a black screen with a blinking white line then after that it pulls something up saying restart and insert proper boot media and it pull something saying something is using the same patterns then it says whole bunch of numbers. when doing a diagnostic it says theres one or more errors and theres a red x on my hardrive.

I have a bootable Toshiba Canvio external drive that I have images for restoration stored on. I know you can boot from a dvd drive with a bootable DVD (which I did create) But---if the drive itself is bootable---why does the BIOS not have that option?
What does one have to do in this day to boot from USB?
Dell inspiron N5010 laptop. When ever I carry my laptop to some place lets say from home to college it stops booting, when I switch on my laptop it starts but after 10-15 seconds it shuts off, also when I try to keep the system in bios it again shuts off within 10-15 seconds.
Twist in the problem is that if I keep my laptop idle for 20-30 minutes it starts working fine (I never remove battery or ram just left my laptop idle)
Another thing is i face this problem only when laptop is carried by me in my back pack or u can say when laptop is subjected to movement.
I noticed this pattern seriously. For past 15 days I didn't displaced my laptop from my desk and it work like any normal laptop but today when I took it to my friends place and there when I tried to boot it it starts and shuts off within 15 seconds while booting so I did the same left it idle without even removing ram or battery or charger for 10 -15 minutes and then it starts working fine.
Why is this happening is there is a problem i hardware or just some loose connection.

I have a month-old dell inspiron 5323 13z running windows 8 that stopped booting yesterday. I had a problem with booting since I got the laptop, namely the boot always stopped and had to press ctr+salt+del to continue the boot process. Dell support recommended the usual things: updating the bios, the OS, resetting the system to factory settings with no effect. Finally, I have decided I can leave this minor annoyance until know when it stopped booting at all after hybernating the system (there was no problem with hybernate before this incident).
So, it displays the dell logo for a short time when powering up, then the screen goes blank but not completely black. After pressing some keys like space a text 'f12 options' is printed in the lower right corner and en empty horizontal bar may appear. Then typing ctrl+alt+del or some random keys the boot may continue and at this point it may be possible to enter the boot menu by pressing f12. So I can change the boot option to uefi or legacy, but neither works. There is no option to boot from USB or anything else (no DVD drive anyway!). So I cannot even try to boot a linux live CD. However, i remember that these options existed before before in the boot order or priority list which is empty now. I can run the pre-boot diagnostics from the boot menu, but it does not find any problem.

My Dell Inspiron 1520 does not complete booting. It start booting, then the screen go black. I am currently doing is 'diagnostic test'. For the past several days, when I've first opened my laptop there is only a blank screen. The computer does not wake up even after I push the power button and the screen continues to be blank. The only way that I've gotten it to respond is by shutting off, unplugging, removing battery and then replacing battery and turning it back on again. I've done this in different combinations. The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).

BIOS is recognizing the HD, What seems to be the problem....
