Acer Aspire 5552 :: Startup Inspector For Windows - Program Could Not Open
Dec 1, 2014
I installed "Startup Inspector for Windows" and got an error message that borlndmm.dll was missing and therefore the program could not open. I did a Norton power scrub, ran MWB, did a clean reboot.
I know I have read several posts about this issue but Cntl+shift+Esc not solving issue. Notebook with black screen upon startup. I hear Windows 7 booting up but have a black screen. Was troubleshooting a monitor issue again when black screen happened.
I have an Aspire 5552-5898. It has a built in mic in the screen, which I can't seem to disable. I have gone into the control panel and thought I had disabled it under the Sound/recording section, but the **bleep** thing just wont turn off. Driver is apparently up to date.
My XP finally gave up and so have a brand new Acer Aspire E5 with 8.1 which is a beautiful machine and love lots of the features but if I can't figure out how to open a downloaded embroidery design with the Bernina Artlink 7 software (download free from Bernina) I have no use for it at all. This should be a very simple task and has turned into a nightmare of support calls with no one understanding that all I need is to be able to tell the computer what program I want to use for opening the embroidery design.
I bought one for a customer, and it's been a nightmare. I've done all of the suggestions and ended up taking it to an authorized repair facility. They "reset" it and said it was fixed. Of course it was not. Acer has to provide a fix as it is their product that does not function correctly.
I replaced the system board for an Acer Aspire 5552, and noticed that the product information for the machine, IE: Serial Number, SNID, etc are not flashed into the BIOS. The serial number for this is listed just as 123456789. Do any of you know how I can get my information flashed into the BIOS?
My Windows 7 Acer Aspire 5552 laptop 's display brightness has lessened and I can not even open Power Options in Control Panel. When I connect another monitor to my Acer Aspire the brightness is just fine. Audio service is not running either. What should I do?
I bought a new Acer E5-571-5552 recently, it came with Windows 8.1 64bit. One of the ways I use my laptop often is in "docked mode", basically connect it to external monitor via HDMI, and external USB mouse & keyboard. I set the windows power options for "close lid" to do nothing, then it works fine like a desktop. This works fine with all other laptops I've used in the past (Lenovo, HP, Toshiba...etc). But this new Acer has trouble waking from sleep, the USB keyboard & mouse only light up, but doesn't wake up the fan/drive/monitor. I have to open the lid and press a key on the laptop (USB keyboard/mouse still doesn't).
I've opened case 3601882U and chatted with 2 agents, one had me update to latest BIOS 1.11 which didn't resolve it. The other tried to insist it was a limited feature, that the Acers had to have lid open to wake up the computer from sleep. I think this is a broken feature. Is this true for all Acers, or just this windows 8.1 model?
I have a 4 year old Aspire 5552-5898 which is having issues ....
First issue is that the Laptop doesn't always boot. When this happens, the power button will light, the fan will spin, the HDD will start, but the screen stays black. Sometimes the PC will restart but the same thing will happen. Usually when this happens, if you hold down the power button, the laptop will power down, only to start up again. The only way to end this cycle is to unplug the machine and pull out the battery. Also of note this seems to happen 100% of the time if the machine is not plugged in, and about 50% of the time when it is.
The next issue occurs when the machine does actually boot. I HAVE to enter the bios because it never holds the date. I thought this could be a CMOS battery issue, but even after replacing that, the problem persists. After entering the date, and saving and exiting, the machine will boot into windows just fine.
System: Aspire 5552, Model Pew76: I'm attempting to restore the default software using the System and Recover Software. Everything goes fine until after Running the Language disk. The installation hangs at 99%. Here's what the Restore Progress displays:
Startup seems to be going as spec., Acer logo appears, circular arrow goes round then screen goes opaque but obviously still lit. Curser still responds but that's the end of the action.
My laptop starts up okay but as soon as I open some programs it freezes up every time. I have been using it in safe mode and that seems to work better but it still occasionally freezes. I have read that I should do system restore but there are no restore points so I can't do that. I haven't downloaded any new programs in a while so I'm not sure why it's doing this all of a sudden. Its only a few months old.
Recently, I fixed my computer from a virus, and now whenever I turn on my laptop, it won't startup. I am most definitely certain that the startup program isn't on. What are all steps specifically as to activate the program, or download a new one, or whatever. I am using a Dell inspiron m5030 laptop.
I can't seem to install anything into program files, or any folder on drive C, only drive D. I am an administrator but the computer says I don't have rights to install things. The properties for the Program Files folder doesn't have any premissions set, and when I try to set some it says access is denied.
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 6920G, running windows vista.
I'd like to install additional RAM Memory in my laptop (as title said, the Acer Aspire 6920G) which only has 2Gb. I've bought a 2Gb memoy module. My problem is that when I try to open the notebook (i removed the necessary screws), it seems like there is something preventing me from opening it and I'm scared to break the laptop so I don't know if I should force it to open or if I missed somethink.
i recently used erecovery programme to repai windows. Everything is fine now but on startup it asks me every time to choose between erecovery or windows vista. Vista is working fine now but i was just wondering how to get rid of the selection screen on startup and make it load vista as normal.
My acer aspire v5 is on black screen. This happened when i forced it to shutdown while a disk check up is on progress, coz it stuck up for about an hour it didn't even move an inch. my function keys are not working.
ok i'm at work right now and was going to remove vista from my 6920 aspire to put on xp because i have vista. Thinking i wouldn't have a problem i simply used the Kill Disk program to format my drives. I put in my xp cd and it will not load because it says HDD not detected, I don't have a cd burner on my work computer but i do have a 4 Gb flash drive is there anything i can do to get it to load up windows xp, Been reading that there is something with XP not allowing install due to the laptop having SATA setup and xp won't work with that? Can anyone please help me. Hoping there is something i can do to maybe load the drivers from my flash drive then install the xp cd.
which would be fine... But there's nothing in the handbook about the right way to remove the back cover and i don't want to snap anything, however much vista needs 4GB of ram.
screws undone obviously but it still feels very firmly attached... what's the right way to take it off?
I had to reinstall windows from eRovery on my Acer Aspire 5734Z. It worked but now when I click on the explorer icon, the window opens but nothing - and I mean NOTHING - happens. I can't even close it after waiting and waiting for it to open any page at all! I am connected to our wifi - it tells me the connection is strong. Just nothing comes up! I have tried restarting, waiting awhile before opening the internet, but still blank.
Quick background: My dad just returned from Afghanistan and is home for a few weeks before he heads back (by home I mean with my mother - i.e. I am not with them so I cannot get my hands on the computer).
He's been using his netbook (Acer Aspire One ZG5) while over there and brought it back with him. It's been working perfectly fine for the last 6 months while he was there, but today when he tried to turn it on to show some pictures to my mom it wouldn't.
The computer would start up fine and begin loading windows. Then it just dies - it just shuts itself off.
The next time, the computer gave them the option to turn it on in safe mode which they tried. Same problem.
They've tried several times and it won't start - it also fails at different times.
Sometimes it almost fully loads windows and other times it shuts off a lot sooner.
I made him open the BIOS which worked fine... for a few seconds and then randomly shut itself off again.
