I can't seem to install anything into program files, or any folder on drive C, only drive D. I am an administrator but the computer says I don't have rights to install things. The properties for the Program Files folder doesn't have any premissions set, and when I try to set some it says access is denied.
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 6920G, running windows vista.
1. Advise a downloader(on Vista pc i use Flashget and enjoy it), Speed Download is shareware+interface is not too friendly. some pals recomended:
iGetter, Leech, Download Queue, Download Wizard, and Download Manager, but which one to choose, which is better ?
2. Which application delete program would you suggest:
à) AppZapper
b) CleanApp
c) AppDelete
3. need a prog. for .RAR files ( not Stuffit, cos it has unfriendly interface for me, imho), which is better:

We had one of our new Inspiron E6330 laptops have issues with the VGA port the other day, and in the course of the Dell technician making things worse, he messed up the hard drive. Â In the end, he left us with a new hard drive, a directory full of files from some unknown backup program, and the old hard drive - which he unfortunately wiped & reinstalled Windows on. Â He wasn't too clever. Â It seems that the backup program he ran left us with a directory full of files which I can't identify. Â I wasn't actually in the office when the Dell tech was on-site, so I'm left trying to piece this back together for my user.

The XML files are interesting - include.xml is a listing of all the user's files from the disk, and migr.xml contains a description of the old system.
Where has Acer put the install/setup files for Vista Home Basic on my Aspire 5315 laptop?
They must be on the hard drive *somewhere* or it'd be asking for the Vista disc when I plug things in or install software.
I am thinking about restoring our 6920G. We have been having some issues with it. I would reinstall Vista Home Premiue x64. What drivers would I need and what apps should I install?

Thinking i wouldn't have a problem i simply used the Kill Disk program to format my drives. I put in my xp cd and it will not load because it says HDD not detected, I don't have a cd burner on my work computer but i do have a 4 Gb flash drive is there anything i can do to get it to load up windows xp, Been reading that there is something with XP not allowing install due to the laptop having SATA setup and xp won't work with that? I think I have the proper bios .fd files, but I'm not too sure, and I can't be sure about what to name said file. I can't be sure I'm going into the Crisis mode, but I do know that If I'm holding down fn+esc when I hit the power button then the processor fan runs alot faster.

One way I saw on the web to rollback the bios was to disconnect the button cell battery on the motherboard - the writer says that will default the computer to the original bios.

Unfortunately that involves an almost complete disassembly of the computer. Original bios available or some alternate method to get back to bios version 1.
I'm trying to reflash my BIOS from a USB stick to save a dead Aspire V5-122P. All I find is that I should extract the BIOS files found on the Acer website and load the resulting .fd file onto a USB.However, as my laptop is dead I have only a borrowed MacBook to work with, and none of my efforts to unzip the .exe file to its constituent parts have been successful. What is the BIOS files available for the V5-122P can be extracted, and if not tell me if there's any other way to find the correct files to reflash the BIOS?

I've always had low fps, i tried installing windows Xp, vista and now windows 7 and nothing helps.
Now i must say, win7 had the best result. My fps increased in major cities, but in raids it's still the same thing.
I defragged my HD, I use a 64bit to use my full ram, I run no background programs, all options are on low, and i still get 7fps.
i've just got an Acer Aspire 6920G and i have a question about the RAM.
The sticker on the palmrest says it has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, as does the box. But the system information on the computer says 3GB, CPUz says it has 4GB.
I've opened it up and there are definitely 2 sticks of 2GB DDR3 RAM, so why does the Windows system info say it only has 3GB?

I have tried lowering settings to lowest, but i only notice a couple of fps gain.. So if i change my settings from medium to low, i notce +3 fps wish seems really weird. I tried using a lot of tweaks with the commandline, turning off clip capture.. but nothing help, it's still runs at about 15-17fps. Ireally love this game, and I hope i can play it at an acceptable speed. I understand that the game is extremely unoptizmed, but i hope there is something i can do.
I've tried a couple of drivers like the ones on acer site 176, 179.28, 179.48, 182.50 (dox).. but i noticed that all are about the same.. I even tried installing XP, but that didn't help either.
so what do you think i should do?
And for those who have acer 6920g, are you able to play GTA4 fine?
this thing makes a loud noise and know one responded to my thread concering my DVD-R :'I'll guess I have to do it on my own or call acer support . under normal operating conditions (having firefox, CPUID HWMonitor, Windows live messenger, and WMP open) the CPU is running at 17~30°C but the GPU runs at around 63~69°C
this isn't normal is it?
with a fan underneath blowing on the bottom of the lappy, cpu runs at 8~23°C
and gpu runs at 53~58°C
Im having a small gaming problem here. Im playing world of warcraft on my Aspire 6920g and it works perfectly smooth for like 5 minutes then starts performance decrease until its very bad. If I minimalize the game, for like, one minute and then maximize it back, it works perfectly smooth for some time again. I have no idea how to fix it. It probably isnt overheating as it occurs after I launch my lappy and then the game(the laptop is cold).
