When typing in wordpad , notepad and more, why not work Ctrl + D?
But the others shortcut is working , like Ctrl + V and Ctrl + C.
My laptop crash. I could not type in my username or password. A friend took
a look at it and was able too get to type in username and password. When he open up windows 7 . he then tried to type again but no luck.

I am an administrator but the computer says I don't have rights to install things. The properties for the Program Files folder doesn't have any premissions set, and when I try to set some it says access is denied.

I recentlly reset the device to factor default using Acer's Recovery Management utility. When the recovery was complete, I downloaded and installed all the applicable windows updates. I have one user account that is an administrative account and everything works just fine. I created a second user account as a standard user. When I sign in as this standard user, I get an error message that states: "The Group Policy Client service failed the sign-in. The universal unique identifier (UUID) type is not supported."

View 3 Replies View RelatedLately I have been having problems with the touchpad this week, started with freezing sometimes, which I typed in google to see another have this problem and to switch setting of touchpad to no delays, which worked as freezing hasn't happened at all anymore at the moment....and later in week, having some difficulty when typing when I click to type in a certain place but then the blinker moves elsewhere, problems with copying and pasting sometimes, as when I copy to highlight upwards, the page did not come up immediately when I slowly moved the mouse up as you do, but when it finally went up, it highlighted the entire document. F2 enter into BIOS, but found noway to backup BIOS to a file.

So it comes to the second question: how to backup the current onboard BIOS to a file? It looks like insydeflash can't backup onboard BIOS to file without providing an existing BIOS file. It's so awful.

I installed "Startup Inspector for Windows" and got an error message that borlndmm.dll was missing and therefore the program could not open. I did a Norton power scrub, ran MWB, did a clean reboot.

It worked but now when I click on the explorer icon, the window opens but nothing - and I mean NOTHING - happens. I can't even close it after waiting and waiting for it to open any page at all! View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Aspire M laptop will not boot due to the 'boot configuration file being invalid', at least, this is what the 'Recovery' blue screen states. The blue screen offers to 'Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings, but is not responsive. I've tried F2, F8, F10, Alt+F10, F12, Space Bar, Delete and Break to try to activate the BIOS interface, all equally unsuccessful.
I followed the instructions to purchase recovery tools from Acer, but without being able to access the BIOS to set the boot order, I've just sunk another $25 into a laptop that doesn't work. The cost of service exceeds the cost of the laptop, so I'm inclined to continue trying to repair it myself. If it cant' be repaired, there is little chance I'll purchase a new Acer to replace it as this has been a very frustrating experience.
ok i'm at work right now and was going to remove vista from my 6920 aspire to put on xp because i have vista. Thinking i wouldn't have a problem i simply used the Kill Disk program to format my drives. I put in my xp cd and it will not load because it says HDD not detected, I don't have a cd burner on my work computer but i do have a 4 Gb flash drive is there anything i can do to get it to load up windows xp, Been reading that there is something with XP not allowing install due to the laptop having SATA setup and xp won't work with that? Can anyone please help me. Hoping there is something i can do to maybe load the drivers from my flash drive then install the xp cd.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI hit enter eight times, and I get a choice of entering a password or continuing, when I continue I can go on to windows. If I choose enter a password I get a blue window with a KEY. I can take the eight digit number key, and enter it in a program on another computer, 'allservice.ro/acer' which gives me the password. I enter the password into my laptop (acer aspire E1-531-2438) and it leaves the blue window, and I can continue either with the HDD loading windows 7, or I can load a cdrom or dvd.
This is great. But if I reboot, and hit F2, I enter the BIOS, and choose security, and I see that the HDD password is still set. If I hit enter, I can enter the HDD password, but when I enter the one I just used, it tells me it is invalid.
I have also tried to kill the power, and startup again going into BIOS, but the HDD password I just used is still invalid.
I have an acer M3 581T which I bought about a year ago. Now, windows crashed and said there was a file missing. I am no longer able to boot up the system, I've tried the erecovery (alt f10) but it just proceeds and says it's not able to boot. I have no recovery cd/usb at hand. It is of my understanding that this ultrabook has two harddrives. One SSD on which the operating system is installed and one HDD with the other files on.What do I do to make it work again? I do not care if all my files are lost.

Attached external screen from my desktop, no display either, no POST!!. Removed HD, RAM, NIC, no change. No beeping what so ever, really looks like the notorious Acer BSOD i've read about. What I need is the EXACT name I should rename the BIOS file (JE70D118.ROM) to be able to use the Phoenix BIOS recovery function (FN+ESC+PWR) with the BIOS file on a USB key or SD card. Seems to be a national secret or something... Acer does not seem to have this documented anywhere.... including the actual BIOS recovery procedure....

I have an Aspire 4720z that had a hard drive failure. I replaced the hard drive with a new Seagate and went to the Acer support pages. Since I was foolish and never followed the process to use the e portion to create recovery disks, I had to purchase the recovery disks from the Acer website. When I start the system disk, it goes through picking the language etc. and then tells me to insert the first recovery disk. I do this and it pops up a warning about making sure you do not have any external drives......make sure you want to do this as this will reformat the C:......etc. At this point I click next to go on and it pops up a Recovery32 Type Mismatch error and won't go any further to recover my system. Based on all the reading that I have been doing on this it would seem that there may be some HDD formatting issues that I need to resolve, but I am at a loss.

After becoming familiar with the 5920G's basic functions, I am trying to become more adventurous and I am thinking of burning some DVDs.
However, I am confused because the machine came with what appears (to my computer-illiterate eye) to be 3 sets of software to do the same functions - Acer Arcade Deluxe, Cyberlink Power Producer and NTI CD and DVD Maker.
Can someone more knowledgeable please tell me whether all these 3 programs are the same and ,if not, what the differences are?
Also which one would be best for a beginner like me to use for burning DVDs ?
