View 10 Replies View Relatedi installed W7 64-bit on my Z590 last month, and everything has gotten to perfect working order. The only snag I've run into is that waking the computer from hibernation takes an annoying long amount of time. On the scale of minutes, whereas a fresh boot-up from shut-down will take less than a minute, and wake-from-hibernation on my XP install before did the same. Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?
Ignoring the whole debate on why-do-you-hibernate (I run several programs, especially photoshop and MATLAB, that I do not wish to close and lose temporary history data), is there any kind of remedy for this? It's annoyed me to the point that I just put the computer on sleep instead when necessary, which drains the battery. I've been hibernating my laptops for 7 years and I really hope not to have to change my habits. I know another friend with the same setup has this issue as well.
My 3-month old Sony Vaio SR laptop is taking an age to open up photos - and I think it was since I installed IE8.
Since the window boxes within Windows Vista are run using IE technology, I am thinking it is to blame?
So when I open a photo in a photo album, it takes about 8 seconds to open. The photo sizes are only around 1mb each. Once the first photo is opened, I can browse to the next photo quite quickly. But if I close the picture window down and open another, it takes another 8 seconds to load up the photo.
Today when I turned on my Acer Aspire 3820t the screen was much darker than usual. Everything looks fine and is visible, but just looks like I set the brightness to the lowest setting. I tried changing the brightness but it looks the same no matter what I set it to.
I use an external display in addition to the built in laptop monitor and the external display is working fine.
OS: Ubuntu 14.04
How can I increase volume without the UP arrow key? Normally do Fn-Up. Volume is only issue (can page up then down to scroll). Control panel options look like they increase volume, but they don't. Windows troubleshooting deals only with the sound card, which is fine. (Old laptop, so I don't want to replace the key).

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Aspire E1-572 suffers somewhat of the dreaded black screen of death. The computer needs about an hour to start, but when windows finally is loaded, it works like a charm. The "F2 for bios screen" takes about an hour to load.I have done a Acer factory reset.Tested the WD-hard disk - No faults, I've run memtest86 - No errors. I've tried to update the bios from Acer's download section, but all I get is error. Like I said, the computer works like a charm, only it takes about an hour for start up.

I am an administrator but the computer says I don't have rights to install things. The properties for the Program Files folder doesn't have any premissions set, and when I try to set some it says access is denied.
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 6920G, running windows vista.
5 years ago I purchased an Acer One ZG8 Netbook. I have gotten alot of use although now I am facing a crash with Windows XP not loading. I wanted to do a factory reset and see if there is any hope to keep this older Acer as a back up netbook. After powering up the Acer One,,,Windows XP will not load. I am faced with a black screen offering options:
1.Safe Mode
2. Safe Mode with Networking
3. Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Or Last known good configuration (your most recent settings that worked). Lastly, Start Windows Normally
Finally, it prompts me to use the down arrow keys to choose with a 30 second countdown ticker.
I HAVE tried all the options for weeks and weeks. Just as Window XP loads a blue screen with word flash so quickly I can not possibly read it. I am very very close to letting this older version Acer meet its maker --- although through my ignorance I have realized just maybe I could do some sort of factory reset.
I installed "Startup Inspector for Windows" and got an error message that borlndmm.dll was missing and therefore the program could not open. I did a Norton power scrub, ran MWB, did a clean reboot.

My 2 yrs old Acer 5500 60 GB HDD crashed ...I replaced it with another new 80 GB HDD...now when I inserted win98 boot disk and typed fdisk its showing only two partions one 2047 MB and another some 8GB . I deleted the partitions and again created but C: partition isnt exceeding 2047 MB and rest 8GB
Anyways I inserted my Acer XP Rescue disks and installed windows ...After booting it says Invalid Partion Table
Now my question is that how do I make Windows recognize the right Hard disk size ie 80 GB and run it successfully
I already installed Ubuntu 8.10 Linux ...working fine ..It recognizes 74GB Hard disk..
I'm having some problems with my Acer Aspire 5050 AMD Turion 64 2.0 GHz running Windows Vista Home Basic
After using it for a little over a year it suddenly has a CPU load around 75 - 90%, and the mouse is not reacting very well. Besides that, it's almost impossible to use to keyboard. Thinking it might be some sort of virus, I checked for that. I found nothing.
I tried to do a erecovery of the machine, but it didn't help! Now i tried formatting the partition and installed XP instead. But still: it didn't help. the problems is still there.
I found that if i start in fail safe mode, the notebook's working. both mouse , keyboard and cpu load.
I am really baffled about about what's the cause of all my problems. I'm thinking it might be the BIOS that's f***** up, but i'm not shure about it.
ok i'm at work right now and was going to remove vista from my 6920 aspire to put on xp because i have vista. Thinking i wouldn't have a problem i simply used the Kill Disk program to format my drives. I put in my xp cd and it will not load because it says HDD not detected, I don't have a cd burner on my work computer but i do have a 4 Gb flash drive is there anything i can do to get it to load up windows xp, Been reading that there is something with XP not allowing install due to the laptop having SATA setup and xp won't work with that? Can anyone please help me. Hoping there is something i can do to maybe load the drivers from my flash drive then install the xp cd.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought an Aspire 5535 and it came with Vista Home Premium. I want to get rid of vista and load XP on it. Problem is I keep getting a hardware error when trying to load XP. I went as far as pulling the HD out of the notebook and hooking it up to my desk top to reformat it, and try it in the notebook at that point, same problem, blue screen f death when it tries to start the windows installation. I then take it out of the note book again and partially load XP up on it from my desktop till the first reboot prompt, re-install it back into the notebook, only to still have the same problem. Is there some hardware issue that needs to be over come here or am I missing something obvious? Or even still, will XP even work on this notebook?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Acer laptop died on me sometime last year, I tried to fix it, had somebody who is more techie than me look at it and we couldn't fix it. He managed to get all the data off but couldn't get it to boot up.
My brother recently had a similar problem with his desktop computer so he told me to put an XP disc in and change the BIOS so it booted from the CD ROM.
I have done this and it wont boot. It doesn't seem to recognise there is a disc in there.
When it loads, the Windows XP screen comes on, then a blue screen flashes up, can't read what it says as it doesn't stay on long enough, then the Acer screen comes up then the screen asking if you want to start up in safe mode etc comes up, if I select start as normal or from last know good configuration, it just keeps looping but if I select safe mode, a huge list of drivers comes up then it turns itself off.
I have tried to do the built in recovery but it doesn't work, just stays on please wait for hours.
So I reinstalled my windows on my laptop, a few months ago and after that I noticed that my games load very slow.(All games).
One example is Dota 2, it takes about 4 mins to load to the main menu and then I have to start an offline bot match in order to load the map which also takes ~5 minutes. I didn't had this problem before reinstalling the windows and I really don't know what can be the problem...sure I installed all my drivers but not sure if they were good since you get tons of drivers for things your laptop doesn't even have

Acer Asipre AS5755G
