View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a solution to repair a Vista (Home?) installation on an Aspire 5920. The laptop blue screens with a Stop error code 00000F4 when booted in either Normal and Safe Mode. This problem started after installing a program although it may also have a malware/virus problem. The inbuilt Startup Repair and System Restore both fail.

I have the Acer Recovery disks but the Acer eRecovery website suggests that all personal data will be lost if they are used. Is it possible to repair the OS installation from the recovery disks instead of reinstalling it?
I have an Aspire 5515 with the black screen of Death. It is running Windows Vista. When you boot up lights come on, fan and HD are on but  no screen. I was told to re-flash bios to fix it, so I downloaded Bios from the support site.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hit enter eight times, and I get a choice of entering a password or continuing, when I continue I can go on to windows. If I choose enter a password I get a blue window with a KEY. I can take the eight digit number key, and enter it in a program on another computer, 'allservice.ro/acer' which gives me the password. I enter the password into my laptop (acer aspire E1-531-2438) and it leaves the blue window, and I can continue either with the HDD loading windows 7, or I can load a cdrom or dvd.
This is great. But if I reboot, and hit F2, I enter the BIOS, and choose security, and I see that the HDD password is still set. If I hit enter, I can enter the HDD password, but when I enter the one I just used, it tells me it is invalid.
I have also tried to kill the power, and startup again going into BIOS, but the HDD password I just used is still invalid.
I was playing a game and alt tabbed then i got a blue screen and my computer restarted. After it restarted a  blue screen popped up saying activate windows now. What should i do and how do i fix this , because of this my office stopped working as well.

I have an Aspire 5742 factory loaded with Windows 7 and it worked for 3 years. Now, Microsoft is sending me 'Unauthorized Windows' messages. The hardware has not changed.  Microsoft checked and said my OEM product key is fine.  Restoring to a previous point failed to fix problem.   I just ordered the eRecovery DVD.   Is there a way to fix this without wiping the system and starting over? I have a LOT of software installed that I will hate to lose.   BTW - my best guess is that malware caused this.

i’ve been researching and discover that my board uses a s1 socket and that the board and the version of the bios will support a turion x2 processor ive been looking to see if anybody has done this and theres some people that claim they swap the athlon for an athlon x2 but the original processor only uses about 15 watts and the one that they claim to change was 55 watts soo i dont think thats true im looking at a turion x2 tl66 2.3 ghz running at 35 watts will this work and will the power supply handle the difference and will the temperature be ok
i want to do this for gaming will the 2650e single core at 1.60 for the turion 64 x2 2.3 will it be a worth upgrade ?
I bought the Walmart special and am actually happy with it. I didn't have much money to spend and after removing all the crapplications, installing AVG etc... it's running well. If I had XP to install I would have done it from the start but I'll live. I'm even managing to run WoW with no issues after tweaking in game specs and playing in the Catalyst Control Center.
Now...my problem. I uninstalled all the Acer utilities and now eRecovery will not work for me. I'd like to back up the OS and drivers so if need be I can restore to factory or at least close. Can I do this with NTI Backup Now? or will that just back up folders and files? If not what can I use to make restore discs.
I have an acer aspire 5515. Great machine for me. I am interested in finding out if the processor can be upgraded. It currently has a AMD Athlon™ 2650e 1.6ghz in it. I have not been able to find information on the motherboard for this laptop. Acer site was not much help but I figured it was because the laptop came out around 12/09 but i dont no for sure. I happened upon the emachine site and there is one that looks exactly like it and has the same specs. So I have to wonder if this is an emachine with acer plastered all over it. Does anyone no what the motherboard model is or for sure what the highest processor i can upgrade to, if possible. I see where others say they have put higher processors in it but want to no for sure.

When I examine the disk (out of the computer) I do see drives C: and RECOVERY , so what to do next?
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5515 Laptop. Has a built in Wireless card. It detects the hotspots with no problem. It connects to the available networks with no problem. But it will not connect to any internet service. Strange, but that is also what trouble shooter says. Connects to network, but not to internet, thus browser cannot resolve to any URL.
I even disabled firewall to see if it would help, but it will not.
Even has issues trying to network at home using ethernet cards. Detects, but will not connect.
I have an old aspire 5100 which has been playing up for a long time, everytime it comes out of standby I get a blue screen and than it reboots and does a scan disc any one has this happen to them.
