I don't have the option D2D listed in the BIOS >> Main - so I can't turn it on :-) and going to F10 while booting has no effect. When I examine the disk (out of the computer) I do see drives C: and RECOVERY(Y
Can I recover MS Office Home & Student 2007 Trial Edition from the factory backup I did when I get the laptop, but without recovering anything else?
This is an Aspire 4530 running Vista.
The trial version expired and I wanted to uninstall it and install my own copy of Office 2003. But if course it would not uninstall - probably because I wasn't the real "Administrator" at the time. I followed the MS guide for forceably uninstalling and deleting the product, but that failed also.
The only recourse seems to be to re-install it from the 3 factory backup DVDs that I made when I got the laptop. But I have a feeling that all I can do is recover (overwrite) the C drive from the recovery DVDs - either all or nothing. Is that correct?
I may have destroyed the recovery partition when I used EaseUS Partition Master to split the C: partition into two partitions. How to recover the partitions necessary for recovery? Â When I do to Advanced Startup, I do not get a 'Troubleshoot' option.
when my computer boots up it says "automatic repair" then it says "diagnosing your pc" then it goes from the logo screen to a blue screen that says "automatic repair" it gives you options and plenty of them but none of them work for my notebook computer. im starting to think of just throwing it away because it cannot be repaired and i dont have a warranty on it anymore in order to send it in. even if i did have the warranty it would take months to get back to me. so.....anyways ive tried command prompt to somehow reset it to factory defaults but i do not know how to do that. when i click on refresh your pc it says "there was a problem with refreshing your pc." and then when i click on "reset your pc" says "there was a problem resetting your pc" ....
ASPIRE 5251-1513 with 2 - 1GB memory sticks in it. The problem is after updating with microsoft updates and changing the useable memory setting to 0 Windows 7 will not start up.. Â so I tried to restore from earlier restore points. Â Windows 7 home premium still won't start up. I tried using the windows automatic repair, it fails after a few minutes. I tried resetting the BIOS to system defaults. Windows still won't start up.... says windows start up, but after a minute a black screen flashes and laptop shuts off. I don't have any recovery disks.
when i turn on my Acer Aspire 3000 i put in my password then it makes me choose a windows xp as i have a dual boot but even if i choose either one it give me the message: "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt <Windows root>system32hall.dll
a have a acer aspire 5630 and my dvd driver has a problem this is what it says Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.
I have an Aspire V3 which has become very crippled. As the laptop was not in my care before now, I had tried to use the Restore Factory Settings option in the Recovery Management tool, however when I click the button to restore, nothing happens. Â I have tried running windows 8 in safe mode as well as pressing alt-f10 on start up. Nothing seems to be working. Is there any way I can reset this short of using a pre-made recovery disc?

I have an Aspire 5742 factory loaded with Windows 7 and it worked for 3 years. Â Now, Microsoft is sending me 'Unauthorized Windows' messages. The hardware has not changed. Microsoft checked and said my OEM product key is fine. Â Restoring to a previous point failed to fix problem. I just ordered the eRecovery DVD. Is there a way to fix this without wiping the system and starting over? I have a LOT of software installed that I will hate to lose. BTW - my best guess is that malware caused this
I hope to find an answer here, I have an Acer Aspire 8930G. It came with Windows Vista but I bought Windows 7. I installed it and it runs fine up to the last boot (right after the accountname and internetconnection questions) After it boots it will go to the recovery straigt away. I called Acer and the guy was a man of few words, he basically just told me it couldn't be installed unless it was a Windows 7 bought from Acer. Is this really the case that Acer is like all those horrible telecomcompanies with their customized firmwares?
I bought a y400 in feb 2013 and it worked perfectly. Then i faced some SSD issues and the system would hang and needed to force restart .I had to install Ubuntu to work.. I sent it back in feb'14 under warranty and they replaced motherboard ,SSD , HDD , re imaged ,etc . Now i got it back and everything seemed to be ok but was facing display driver issues (tried everything to fix this) and ended up disabling my graphic card to make the system work seamlessly .  Having read on internet somewhere that windows 8.1 may fix the dispaly driver issue , I upgraded to 8.1 from the windows store . After downloading the update I had to restart to install windows 8.1 and it was stuck at 49 % at setting up on lenovo logo screen for about 2 hrs and I had to force shutdown.Â
After starting up again as expected it crashed. Now I cannot Safeboot nor can I use OKR .
After the booting up its landing lenovo logo screen for a while then jumping to select language screen ENGLISH US -> Advanced Options -> cannot find startup settings (to safe boot) any option i select for example system restore it then asks me for windows 8 setup or windows 8 OS when i select any one of them it hangs (blue screen)Â
Same happens when i use OKR .It loads the files and then boots to the same language screen . Since Recovery image is stored on separate drive all I need to do is format the C drive but how can I do it ?
I have a Dell Latitude D600 which i bought a few months ago second hand, It came with charger and thats it. No recovery disk or nothing. Laptop worked perfect and is a really good laptop. However I have so many viruses on my laptop, I have ran all types of AVG's, adware scanners, and much more. Its cleared alot of the viruses but still the laptop is not working properly.
I would like to restore the laptop back to its factory settings, i have backed up all my data on an external harddrive so its all good. I checked on google and it says something about Pressing F11 + Ctrl or something like that and it has a recovery procedure in the laptop allready. I dont think D600 has that feature and guessing i need a recovery disk. I have looked on ebay and cant find any, Im not even sure what type of recovery disk to get because i found a few, prices were ranging from £30-35 and i cant afford that as i am a student.
Is there a way where i can download some sort of recovery software for dell and burn it onto a disk or something, I looked on google but there is no detailed sources telling me about this,
how i can restore my dell latitude D600 back to its brand new settings without having to buy the recovery disk.
HDD broke. I bought new one and recovery cds. BUT my aspire V3-551G never boots from cd. Copied system disk to flash and that boots but no way to get it to recognize recovery disk 1. Is the fault in bios, physical dvd drive, or recovery software?
Can I (or should i): A. edit some file in usb system disk to get it to cooperate B. update bios C. move a dvd drive from other laptop D. get usb cd drive (tried didnt work) E. get other usb flash hdd (as if that changes things somehow) F. Move HDD to other laptop and either boot or work through windows there G. Find acer accepted laptop fixer (how)
I am trying to determine the maximum memory and configuration for my Apire 5745G i5. Is there somewhere I'm supposed to be able to find this information? I couldn't see it in any of the manuals. How much memory can I run total? How much per slot?
My Aspire M laptop will not boot due to the 'boot configuration file being invalid', at least, this is what the 'Recovery' blue screen states. The blue screen offers to 'Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings, but is not responsive. I've tried F2, F8, F10, Alt+F10, F12, Space Bar, Delete and Break to try to activate the BIOS interface, all equally unsuccessful.  I followed the instructions to purchase recovery tools from Acer, but without being able to access the BIOS to set the boot order, I've just sunk another $25 into a laptop that doesn't work. The cost of service exceeds the cost of the laptop, so I'm inclined to continue trying to repair it myself. If it cant' be repaired, there is little chance I'll purchase a new Acer to replace it as this has been a very frustrating experience.
I bought an ES1-511-C590. It came with Windows 8.1 with Bing. It has a built-in recovery partition named push button recovery or something. Â I really do not like built-in recovery mechanism on the same HDD. I perfer a DVD/USBÂ or any external media.I wanted to export that recovery parititon to a DVD/USB. I searched the web and found that I needed to use Acer eRecovery Managment application. But mine did not came with that software, and I could not find it on Acer's web site either. Â I installed Windows 10 on it. I did not like this laptop, so I decided to sell it. Now, I want to make it to factory settings. Pressing Alt + F10 showed some kind of error, like it cannot verify the signature of winload.efi. I thought Windows 10 somehow messed it up. So I installed normal Windows 8.1 Pro I had. Then tried Alt + F10. Now, it did not show that winload.efi error, but it asks me to insert a recevery media. That is, it does not recognise the recovery partition. Â By the way, the screen of Alt + F10 looked like stock Windows 8.1 screen from Microsoft, not Acer. When I watched it on their web site, it showed some kind of Acer recovery program. Is this normal? Â What happened? Is my recovery feature broken? I can still see the recovery partition (11.03GB), why can't I recover it? Any method to recover the factory state.
I've made a backup when I bought the notebook Aspire V3-771G. After that, I've installed Win 7 with my own serial key. All partitions I deleted. Right now I want to recover system to factory default but I haven't recovery disk nor recovery partition. I've got only backup five files ended with .NFB extensión and one with .CAL extensión. I've tested ghost programs and backup software but none of them could read backup files. Is there any solution for this without buying the recovery disks ?
Got a Aspire one 722 from mom-in-law. She didn't use it much. Sticker says I have a 320GB HDD but Properties only show 284 GB. How do I recover the lost HD space?
I discovered the space holds MS Office but I can't access Office without purchasing it which I have no need for so this is just a closet full of stuff I don't want and apparently I can't use the storage space either.
I have purchased a Acer 6930. It had Vista installed and the 5.1 Surround was working perfectly fine. I recently Installed Windows 7 and i'm unable to get the 5.1 speaker configuration setup.
When i configure the speakers, it shows me only Stereo setting. how to enable 5.1 speakers in Windows 7.
I have to either Launch start up repair or start windows normally. I've down the start up repair and it says that it is finished turns the laptop off and then restarts but when it gets to the boot up screen it just runs with the little bar with arrows going along for ages and doesn't progress so I have to switch the laptop off again which means next time I start it I go back to the initial problem.
I didn't get a recovery disk or anything with my laptop so not sure if there is a way of getting in and partioning the disk otherwise or rebooting the hard drive.
5 years ago I purchased an Acer One ZG8 Netbook. Â I have gotten alot of use although now I am facing a crash with Windows XP not loading. Â I wanted to do a factory reset and see if there is any hope to keep this older Acer as a back up netbook. Â After powering up the Acer One,,,Windows XP will not load. Â I am faced with a black screen offering options:
1.Safe Mode 2. Safe Mode with Networking 3. Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Or Last known good configuration (your most recent settings that worked). Lastly, Start Windows Normally
Finally, it prompts me to use the down arrow keys to choose with a 30 second countdown ticker.
I HAVE tried all the options for weeks and weeks. Â Just as Window XP loads a blue screen with word flash so quickly I can not possibly read it. Â I am very very close to letting this older version Acer meet its maker --- although through my ignorance I have realized just maybe I could do some sort of factory reset.
My 2 yrs old Acer 5500 60 GB HDD crashed ...I replaced it with another new 80 GB HDD...now when I inserted win98 boot disk and typed fdisk its showing only two partions one 2047 MB and another some 8GB . I deleted the partitions and again created but C: partition isnt exceeding 2047 MB and rest 8GB
Anyways I inserted my Acer XP Rescue disks and installed windows ...After booting it says Invalid Partion Table
Now my question is that how do I make Windows recognize the right Hard disk size ie 80 GB and run it successfully
I already installed Ubuntu 8.10 Linux ...working fine ..It recognizes 74GB Hard disk..
I'm having some problems with my Acer Aspire 5050 AMD Turion 64 2.0 GHz running Windows Vista Home Basic
After using it for a little over a year it suddenly has a CPU load around 75 - 90%, and the mouse is not reacting very well. Besides that, it's almost impossible to use to keyboard. Thinking it might be some sort of virus, I checked for that. I found nothing.
I tried to do a erecovery of the machine, but it didn't help! Now i tried formatting the partition and installed XP instead. But still: it didn't help. the problems is still there.
I found that if i start in fail safe mode, the notebook's working. both mouse , keyboard and cpu load.
I am really baffled about about what's the cause of all my problems. I'm thinking it might be the BIOS that's f***** up, but i'm not shure about it.
