View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's been running fine for a long time now as in the Sig, but came home from Dinner last night and some wierd things. Tried to open Irfanview and it said it couldn't find the program.
Same with Easycleaner (a Reg etc cleaner). Also, my Software Firewall (Comodo) popped with 3 flags that basically told me it was not working and a re-installation might fix it.
So I rebooted and now everytime I come into windows (even in Safemode) if I select Start-Program Files (or Control Panel) the menu will lock up. Can still Alt-Tab-Del to see processes running, but thats it.
So I tried a restore point to last week, came to my desktop and nothing loaded. No explorer, menus, short cuts, etc at all. (can still alt-tab-del)
Suddenly my laptop lid broke on one of the ends. The was not supported on one end. I was unable to close or open the lid..
Dell says, limited warranty is not covered for this issue....
I removed the hard drive cover on my new Aspire 5740-6478 and there is an unused, open bay in there, next to the hard drive, for some component.

But how is it opened?
I'd like to install additional RAM Memory in my laptop (as title said, the Acer Aspire 6920G) which only has 2Gb. I've bought a 2Gb memoy module. My problem is that when I try to open the notebook (i removed the necessary screws), it seems like there is something preventing me from opening it and I'm scared to break the laptop so I don't know if I should force it to open or if I missed somethink.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy XP finally gave up and so have a brand new Acer Aspire E5 with 8.1 which is a beautiful machine and love lots of the features but if I can't figure out how to open a downloaded embroidery design with the Bernina Artlink 7 software (download free from Bernina) I have no use for it at all. This should be a very simple task and has turned into a nightmare of support calls with no one understanding that all I need is to be able to tell the computer what program I want to use for opening the embroidery design.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen i insert a dvd into the drive, the drive tries to read the disc and the yellow led turns on, after a few seconds it finishes reading and when i go to open it in computer, double click on dvd drive, there is nothing on the dvd. i tried a couple of different dvd's, but the same thing happens.
One thing that makes me think that the problem is software, is my ability to boot from disc. i can boot the recovery disks, windows xp, linux... whatever.
i've updated to bios v1.14 from 1.10, but the problem persisted. i always tried removing upperfilters & lowerfilters and even restoring to factory default settings. nothing worked. i remeber that this happened to me about 5 months ago, and that suddenly it was fixed, but two weeks ago it returned.

which would be fine... But there's nothing in the handbook about the right way to remove the back cover and i don't want to snap anything, however much vista needs 4GB of ram.
screws undone obviously but it still feels very firmly attached... what's the right way to take it off?
I installed "Startup Inspector for Windows" and got an error message that borlndmm.dll was missing and therefore the program could not open. I did a Norton power scrub, ran MWB, did a clean reboot.

I am connected to our wifi - it tells me the connection is strong. Just nothing comes up! I have tried restarting, waiting awhile before opening the internet, but still blank.

The optical mouse still doesn't work, but I have a new problem: I can't remove the CD from my CD/DVD drive. I push the button - no light - no open - no nothing.
i just bought an acer aspire 5102wlmi without a HD for a friend. so i went and bought a HD and proceeded to install windows XP home service pack 2.
the problem is it constantly stays in a loop, i load and boot from the disc, it copies all the files, reboots, loads the files, says starting windows, and then just starts all over by going back to the setup screen. i've formatted the drive and made multiple attempts. had anyone else had this problem? if so what is the solution?
I had to buy the recovery disk for my Aspire V5, when I start I change the bios to UEFI with secure enabled, then I use the disk Recovery System, once that I´m in the Acer Console Management, and I Selected the restore full, a pop up came with the message "Please Change your bios to Legacy¨ so I click on the exit button, and I enter to the bios and select the legacy mode, then the acer console management starts and says that the systems recovery fails because this is only for UEFI mode. So I dont know what to do, I have another 4 disk for the recovery but none of this is a booteable disk. Also I tried with UEFI and boot secure disable and same result .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ACER ASPIRE 5755 laptop with 4GB RAM and 500 GB Disk. Now the issue I am facing is, it doesn't boot up. It just sits at a screen for sometime and then even if we reboot it goes to the same screen which is much prior to loading Windows and I believe just after the POST. I checked in the BIOS that hard-drive was not getting detected. I unplugged replugged ..took it out, put it back in but nothing worked. Than I removed that hard-drive and replaced it with a working hard-drive of my fren's & eventually it booted up fine. Hence this isolates to be an issue with the hard drive. Now my question is that, "is there any upper limit on the size of the hard-drive (as the inboxed one was 500GB)". I am planning to take 1TB hard drive. So will that work In addition to this, is there any link provided by Acer which I can browse and check what all Hard-drives are supported / compatible / recommended by Acer. I have been a big fan of Acer Laptops from a long time and would not want to buy a new laptop just because of this simple hard drive issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI own a 3.5 years old Acer Aspire 5742G (Core i3 M380; NVIDIA540M). the heat sink or the collinig fan might have some issue as it usually gets overheated when playing games (even CS condition zero/1.6). I don't play games anymore, so its not a problem.

The problem is that I am unable to adjust the screen brightness from the keyboars shortcut (Fn+ Left/Right arrow key), neither from the control panel (Power Settings).
Although I do noticed something that, if I change my brightness settings (nothing happens) and I close the laptop lid (display screen) by folding it down and openeing it back after 3-4 seconds, the brightness is now changed.
I just bought a Aspire E5-571G-583R and I'm trying to get 5.1 sound from it. I've connected the laptop HDMI to my home theatre system which supports both Dolby Digital and DTS, not working. I've also tried to my LG LED-TV which supports Dolby Digital, that's also a no go. I've installed the latest Realtek drivers from your download pages (6.0.1.7250). The problem, as far as I can tell, is that it uses the Intel display sound driver instead of Realtek HD sound driver on the HDMI port. I have tried to change the driver on the HDMI device to Realtek but then I got the win 8.1 version of the BoD.
So I guess I've two questions:
1. Is it possible to force the Realtek driver on the HDMI in order to get 5.1 sound?
2. If not, how do I get 5.1 sound from the laptop?
I have been unable to find the controls of the Webcam. Is the software already installed or do I have to download it? If so, what do I download and where do I find it?
