View 1 RepliesAfter i uninstalled Android Studio last night, I was prompted to restart my laptop to apply changes. I clicked yes, after the reboot however I no longer had my full screen display(1280x800) and there is a black bar to the right side of the screen.
I have tried updating/uninstall/reinstalling my graphics driver(Intel Hd Graphics 3000) and the bar is still there. No option to scaling,(set at Maintain Display Scaling)
I tried taking a picture to display the black bar on m monitor using print screen but the black bar does not show when I paste into paint.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a hp pavilion dv5-1170ei and it had problems with the audio and the quick launch buttons after upgrading to Win 7. I decided to update the bios because that was the only thing that i had not updated. Now the computer is frozen with the BIOS update still running. I once had the same problem with a dv5-1199ei and it worked fine after upgrading the BIOS. By the way i upgraded from Vista Home premium to Win 7 Ultimate.

Product#: FR922UAR#AB
System Board Id: 30F7
BIOS Version (before update): F.12
OS: Windows 7
I tried to upgrade the BIOS to F.55 which was provided by HP. After successfull installation of new BIOS windows shutdown properly. I start the PC again, HP Logo appears, and then nothing happen. The OS does not load or boot at all.
I also tried to boot using Windows 98 Second Edition CD (to load DOS) but this also did not work.
I purchased a new Pavilion 15-p080ca Windows 8 laptop from tigerdirect.ca and received it a couple of days ago.
The computer had randomly rebooted during working on it, I remember having read an IO error message in a windows popup. Since then, it continuously reboot, tries to load windows, fails and reboot until automatic repair kicks in.
Bios system log has many warnings/error: 03F0, 03F1, 0021. I got about 3 times a hard disk not found error on POST.
I am unable to repair the installation whether from the recovery partition or from recovery discs, I get "The drive is locked error" or "Automatic repair could not repair your pc".
Also recovery manager can't find the recovery partition. On command prompt, diskpart does not list disk; "There are no fixed disk to show".
However, Ubuntu live cd and Mini xp are able to see every partitions, show files and read them, a fast HDtune read test shows no disk error.
The computer is able to read from hard drive since I am able to get on recovery and windows tries to load until I get the "Your pc ran into a problem that it couldn't handle and it needs to restart"
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics SMART test passed, Short DST returns Warning. HP diagnostic smart test returned "no hard disk installed" message one time.
Anything Windows 8 based, whether recovery disk, original media are not able to see hard drive.
I tried booting recovery disk, recovery partition with every combination of Legacy support and Secure boot to recover the partitions without success since the hard drive is not detected (from diskpart list disk command). From the recovery dvds I get a 0xefffff08 error. I also tried to remove the recovery partition thinking it could want to recover from it to get things faster.
I'm experiencing some problems with my brand new laptop. In fact, for some reasons, sometimes when i turn on my computer and i try to open my DVD drive it won't open. I have to restart my laptop to do so again with no problems.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion dv6-6154tx laptop. My current version of BIOS installed is Hewlett-Packard F.1B, 05/10/11.I wanted to check if my BIOS is up to date, and if there was a newer version of BIOS available.
So I went to the HP Support page for laptops (URL...) and chose Pavilion Notebooks > Models dv4000 to dv6999 > dv6000 Entertainment Notebook PC series > Matching products outside the United States.
But alas, I could not find my laptop's model listed there. There's dv6150tx and then it jumps to dv6161ea, but no dv6154tx. Is there any other way I can update my laptop's BIOS?
It's been running fine for a long time now as in the Sig, but came home from Dinner last night and some wierd things. Tried to open Irfanview and it said it couldn't find the program.
Same with Easycleaner (a Reg etc cleaner). Also, my Software Firewall (Comodo) popped with 3 flags that basically told me it was not working and a re-installation might fix it.
So I rebooted and now everytime I come into windows (even in Safemode) if I select Start-Program Files (or Control Panel) the menu will lock up. Can still Alt-Tab-Del to see processes running, but thats it.
So I tried a restore point to last week, came to my desktop and nothing loaded. No explorer, menus, short cuts, etc at all. (can still alt-tab-del)
how can i open the cd drive on my acer aspire e15??? when i open the cd drive (D then says it came to a problem what must i do???

Dell says, limited warranty is not covered for this issue....
i got my new dv5 last night and ive got a problem. The first time it happened was when i tried to make one of those back up DVD's, i open the disc recovery manager, and the computer suddenly logs off, and im reverted back to the welcome screen where i need to click my name to log back in. Every program that was running simply dissapears. I was like 'crap... i guess i cant make any back up discs'. But then it happened again when i tried to install WinRAR, it was corrupted becuase i copied the files from another computer and after i press ok in the error box it does the same thing.. 3 times i had to re-download a file i was downloading at that time. I guess it only happens when theres an error. I immediatly uninstalled norton and most of the bloatware so it cant be due to that. So now im paranoid about opening any file hoping that it wouldnt log off like that suddenly and lose my work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15r and a Dell v313w I purchased in November 2010, both are wireless and connected through a gateway/router that have been very great over the years but about a year or so ago I noticed each time I would try to print out multiple documents I could only get one document to print out, it could include one sheet or many sheets . Any others documents would be stuck in the print queue listed as " printing " but would never print out unless I restarted the computer then it would print out all documents one after another just as they had been entered complete with all sheets per document accounted for and in correct order.
After the printer had finished printing all the documents if I needed to print another document I would have the same headache all over again and the document would remain in the queue until I restarted the computer again.I'm not a spring chicken by any means and have to think logically went operating the computer or installing software so many of the technical jargon is something I really don't understand.
Last night, my Macbook Pro froze on me while I was running Windows XP on VMWare Fusion, so I forced shutdown by holding the power button for five seconds.
Ever since, I have not been able to boot the OS at startup. The Apple logo shows up, then the status dial thingy below, and then a grey "curtain" comes down with a "You need to restart your computer" message in multiple languages.
The problem is, it freezes at that point, and it won't let me restart. So I have to force shutdown again by holding down the power button, and the problem repeats.
Sometimes when I try to reboot, it freezes as the grey "curtain" is coming down and before the "You need to restart your computer" message even shows up, so I don't know what is going on.
I've a dv7-4170us that's out of warranty and a dead battery. I cannot get the computer to wake from sleep mode.
I've removed the battery, the cmos battery, the hard drive, and the cd-rom drive. Nothing will wake this thing!
The wifi light is orange, the caps lock is flashing. The mute button is not lit. NUM lock doesn't have a light.
Nothing, not even a mouse, is plugged into the laptop.
I have a Lenovo X230 2324-3XU, and I cannot pair my bluetooth headphones to the computer. I can turn on the bluetooth with the Fn+F5 function, but the bluetooth icon doesn't appear in my icon tray, and I can't use the Add Device to discover the headset.

I have a 2 yr old Pavillion G7-1329 wm with Windows 7. I use Windows antivirus and firewall along with Malwarebytes for spyware. I have noticed recently when I download or update anything, instead of restarting as before, it hangs up and after about 5 minutes it goes into hibernate and won't come out of it.
I have to do a hard power off.
I have done a couple of restore points but it doesn't solve the problem.
I do use a cooling fan to prevent overheating although it does still get quite warm.
After being closed for a short time when I open my pavilion g6-1b60 I have a flashing light on cap lock and my wireless light is amber and the scren stays black.

I cannot open my laptop because I forgot the bios password..
During the normal boot process I see the Bluetooth symbol light up but only for a few seconds then it switches off.
Only once was I able to open the bios setup of my x201T Type 3113 to select Bluetooth. I cannot recall how I did this but now neither the ThinkVantage button, F1, F8 or F12 will open up bios setup that has a Bluetooth selection page. Any bios setup that does open has no page that mentions Bluetooth.
What must I do do get this page again so that I can enable Bluetooth?
I cannot log in on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc, it is giving me: A disk read error occurred; Press ctrl-alt-delete to restart,!prompt.
