I bought a new DELL SE 7520 . It has 2 problems:
1. flash drives and dvd drives are not shown in the " my computer "
2. cant able to create recovery disc{ runs good for the 1st dvd when i inserted the second dvd its just ejects not doing any other action }

I am currently unable to create a Factory Default Recovery Disc. There is an error with the Onekey Recovery software in burning onto the DVD / Disc. I have tried two different DVDs (4.7GB), and have tried a CD (740MB). And I receive the same error about one fifth of the way through.
The reason I am having to do a factory reset, is because my Wirless Network driver is not working, and the laptop no longer accepts external wireless USB dongles. I can't get internet even with a wired connection. It isn't to do with whether the wireless is switched on or not. I've tried this.
What is Lenovos policy about providing customers with the means to restore their Laptops? In the past computer manufacturers / suppliers provided all the software and bootdiscs.
i have a Dell M5040 when i launch Dell Datasafe 2.0 the section to create Recovery Media has both the USB and CD/DVD grayed out. How do I reset Datasafe in case there was a limit to create only 1 copy of the recovery cds (which are no where to be found)?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have an HP ENVY dv7 Notebook. When the computer was new I tried to make a recovery disc set. When finished I would check the discs ( DVD - R ) I would get a message saying the discs did not write correctly. Tried discs from three different packs, still the same. Called HP Support and they went through the procedure with me, still the same fail. I was told me not to worry if I ever had to have the discs because of a crash they would send them to me for free as they have a record. Now I will be using this computer mainly on the internet and think I should have the discs just in case. Called HP and was told no record, no free discs and it will cost a lot to make the discs. Is there any way to make discs or put the info on a hard drive? I do not know if the computer thinks I made a copy or not since the copies I thought I was making were defective.

I see the "LENOVO" volume as Drive D, and it appears to have the restore tools, but I cannot figure out how to get to One Key Recovery. I've tried rebooting while pressing F2 or F11 repeatedly; F2 gets me to BIOS, F11 doesn't seem to do anything.

The machine came without any backup disks, which seems to be a standard HP thing. So I've tried to create my own disk using the Recovery Manager software. It goes through the first part of the process collecting files, but when it reaches 100% I get an error message saying that the files are more than 0mb and it can't continue.
I've tried using a different blank DVD but get the same message.
It's a pain, and is spoiling my enjoyment of an otherwise excellent machine. If anyone can suggest a way around this I'd be grateful.

I have a brand new T440 which I am populating and customising.I created a new partition on the HDD using MiniTool Partition Wizzard. That may have created the problem - I can't create the recovery media. I get a message that the files are not there. I should have done it before partitioning - too late now.
However, using the Partition Wizzard, I can assign a drive letter to the Recovery partition, and it becomes visible in Windows Explorer (File manager). I can copy the content on an external HD drive.
I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 just a few days back. Since the upgrade, I'm not able to access any of my USB pendrives and flashdrives after plugging them in the hub. The oc just does not read them. The light on pen drives glows for 1 second and then goes off.

I recently run into a problem, when I wanted to install my ANNO 1404 game, I inserted the disc into my laptop, but it shows no data, it simply looks to be empty. So I tried it in my desktop PC and there there is everything OK, disc is full, game can be installed. I left it be and after few days I wanted to see a movie, but after inserting the movie DVD into my laptop, I received this error in WMP: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. In some cases, you can resolve the problem by updating the device driver for your video card." So I'm starting to think my DVD driver is somehow "wrongly set" or something like that. What can I do about it?
My OS is W7 Professional (on desktop too, so OS is not the issue), my laptop is Inspiron 15R SE 7520. Both DVDs (game and movie) are original, no stealing here.
i got my new dv5 last night and ive got a problem. The first time it happened was when i tried to make one of those back up DVD's, i open the disc recovery manager, and the computer suddenly logs off, and im reverted back to the welcome screen where i need to click my name to log back in. Every program that was running simply dissapears. I was like 'crap... i guess i cant make any back up discs'. But then it happened again when i tried to install WinRAR, it was corrupted becuase i copied the files from another computer and after i press ok in the error box it does the same thing.. 3 times i had to re-download a file i was downloading at that time. I guess it only happens when theres an error. I immediatly uninstalled norton and most of the bloatware so it cant be due to that. So now im paranoid about opening any file hoping that it wouldnt log off like that suddenly and lose my work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Inspiron 15R 5521 preinstalled with Windows 8and I have never powered it on because I want to make an entire disk backupas it is in a "pure" state.
I removed its harddrive (Western Digital, 1 TB) from my laptop to connectit to my desktop with 2 harddrives (one for system (Windows 7, 64 bit); the otherfor data (2 TB)), but never started the installed system to prevent the systemfrom writing some system information into the Inspiron disk.Instead I inserted a Windows PE CD embedded with Acronis True Image 2013.I chose "Disk Backup". The Inspiron harddrive had 6 partitions.The destination drive (where the image created was to be saved) was the 2-TB data disk.Clicked "Finish" and writing Partition 1...done, 2...ok, .... 6 ok and"Backup Process Failed!" at the final stage.
The final stage seems to be a partition layout.BTW the Acronis backup system has an option "Ignore Errors" (force complete).I gave it a try too, but the image created was incomplete with only 4 partitions.Macrium Rescue Disk is a similar one but with no ignore error option.I also tried this and failed at the final stage. No image created.The error message was "Unable to read from disk".Both the Inspiron disk and the destination drive happened to be Western Digital ones.I tried Western Digital Lifeguard checker on each and found no bad sectors.
Otherwise perhaps is that a trick or technology to lock disks?
I just bought an Insprion 7520, and upgraded the windows os to ultimate. However after reading few reviews of this os, I wanted to switch back to Home Premium so that it would be like I bought it. However after installing Home Premium, some of the drivers that I downloaded from the Dell Drivers and Downloads website were unable to install. These problems have also lowered the laptops score in the Windows Performance Index. The GRAPHICS score went from 6.6 to 5.6 and RAM socre 7.9 to 7.7.

-Seagate Firmware v 0005DEM1, A05 : Got a FAILED message in the dos screen.
-Dell-Hardware version GS002D, A02 : Got a message saying "Not compatible with x64 systems".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a set of "System Recovery" (Reinstall Disk) DVD's for my inspiron 15 7000 laptop.I removed the traditional Sata HD from the laptop and installed Samsung Evo 840 SSD. Connected an external DVD drive and booted using the System Recovery Disk 1.
The files started loading but after half were loaded gave error of something like 0x8xxxxxx and asked to reboot. The same error occurred after another reboot.The Recovery Disk are fine as i have verified them using dell backup software.Also is it possible to create Dell Recovery partition (O/S and drivers e.t.c) somehow on the new SSD if i install Windows 8 using the OEM disk straight away?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was making a Windows 7 recovery disc set, usning the Lenovo Thinkvantage tools, and one of the first pop up windows that came up said "Note: DVD RAM is not supported for Disc 1 of the Product Recovery disc set". Does this meen that I cannot use a DVDs for a Recovery discs? That is all I have.

I have tried multiple flash drives including some with activity lights. None of the drives have been found by windows and there are no other hardware problems. The drives with activity lights just flash continuously.
I have checked online and can't find any newer drivers to try and Dell PC Checkup finds no problems.
Apple care hk is very good.i just lost my whole recovery disc and i life 09 disc and also the receipt.i just call apple care.they said they will send me the whole disc free of charge.

3 of those notebooks are HP Probook 450 G2's (PN: J4R69EA)
(These are the models with the 128GB SSD drives)
The other two are Lenovo E540’s with similar specs.
So first things first, create recovery media. So that is done before I hand them to the end users in question. While trying to create the windows disc, the "HP Recovery Disc Creator" program demands Dual layer DVD's: "Please insert a Dual-Layer DVD to proceed" The DVD's in question I’m using are "Sony DVD+R 120min/4.7GB" discs that in the past have always worked. (and at this moment are working for the Lenovo portables)

I have not tried a USB stick, but this is not what I want and since you can only create one set of backups…

This would not be that big of a problem if there was an actual windows 7 key printed on the portable. If I had a key, I would just reinstall the machine straight away with a clean windows 7 image so I dont have to clean out all the HP software. but unfortunatly this is not the case. so i need a Windows 7 Recovery disc to be created.
I've just replaced HDD by SSD and tried to make a recovery USB media by means of 8.1 recovery utility. The process takes suspiciously short time, but finishes normally reporting that media is created. The size of all files on the flash is about 200 MB. When I did the same media with HDD the size was 12GB. I tried to boot with that flash and it failed with a message about corrupted media or the like. I always believed that windows does not take into account the physical structure of the drive and cannot understand what's going on and what to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using an Acer TravelMate 7520. I had it with me at university, and had no problems (other than it being a little slow sometimes...). When I came home for the summer it started freezing up, and then emitting a loud, constant beep. it will work fine for a few minutes upon start, but then the programs start to freeze, then the mouse, then the beep comes. I did a virus scan and came up with 2 viruses, which i removed, but it is still doing it!! I can't figure out what is wrong with it, or a solution.
The other day it got very hot, because me (like an idiot) left it sitting on my bed with the fan covered. It cooled off and everything, and the fan works fine.
We have a brand new Aspire E15 and are wanting to create a recovery backup on to a usb drive.
As per the user manual we type recovery in the search and select 'Acer Recovery Management'.
We then get the User Acount Control window asking if we want to allow Acer Recovery Management to make changes to the computer, then click 'Yes'.
Then nothing happens......
I clean all partition, using windows instalator to create two partition: 100GB and 890GB. When i try to install windows i see:
