Aug 27, 2014I have the HP Pavilion dv7-3079wm for a few years never had an issue till lately. the wireless button will not turn on. i have tried rebooting, updating and restore. If I connect with the ethernet cable it sometimes turns the wireless button on but does not stay on so I can not take it outside anymore.

Dec 31, 2009I'm having a problem with HDMI output from my dv7-3079wm to my 37" LG 1080p LCD. When I view the input on my TV, there is a black border around the image (like it is overscanned?). This happens at most resolutions, except for 1360x768, and I would like to watch Blurays in 1080p. So I'm not sure why it is doing this. I also tried this on a 42" Hitachi 720p TV with the same result (all resolutions) so I don't think that it is the TV. I couldn't find any settings in Catalyst Control Center also. My graphics card is an ATi Mobility Radeon 4650.

Nov 21, 2008I have had a problem with the DVD drive for a few months now. Sometimes the light on it flashes and you here it attempting to look for a DVD (When it's empty). When it's full it sometimes flashes and runs autorun. After it flashes it also ejects half the time, and also it'll just eject randomly without any warning or loading noises.
I explained the problem to Dell and they sent me a replacement DVD drive, but the problem still happens, so I'm guessing it's not the DVD drive itself.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could solve this problem?

So I've had my laptop for roughly around 9 months and I have started having trouble with it about 2 months after I got it. Although it may not be entirely the laptops fault as I think the person who sold it to me just wanted a quick sale because it does the bare minimum of what I expect it to do.

But lately to my great annoyance the audio has stopped working...for everything. Nothing I've tried has worked and every so often it will at random the sound will be back on again. It's done this on occassion about 5 months after I bought it and I didn't think anything of it but now it's happening everday and is driving me nuts!

I've tried uninstalling the sound and restarting but that doesn't do anything double and triple checked that nothing is on mute, I've used VLC, youtube and Windows Media Player to test it out and still nothing. In the control panel it says the sound is working but it's not. I've also tried putting in headphones and there isn't any sound from the headphones either.

Jan 28, 2013Recently the optical drive on my XPS L702X laptop has randomly started opening itself for no reason at all, and the button to open it on the drives face plate does not respond either.
This has started happening just a few days after the warranty has expired so i'm hoping its not broken but it seems doubtful if i'm honest.
Also the connection for the power lead is extremely poor and the slightest movement causes it to fall out, i've searched around and it seems to be a fairly common problem on these laptops but i haven't been able to find a solution as of yet.
What with already having 2 failed hard drives and now these 2 new issues, it sure doesn't seem like dell laptops are made to last anymore.

Every thing exept the cursor stops responding for a while... it happens a lot... when i tried to do a hard disk check via hp diagnosis it said that SMART passed and Short SDT Failed... i googled about it and founded it was a hard disk problem... when checked my partition with the OS for error it said that errors were found and asked me to restart and repair so i did ... it did disk check and repair twice till 58 percent and un expectedly rebooted both the times .. now it is repairing disk error..

HP/Compaq :: DV6t Pops/crackles Constantly On Mute
May 28, 2009I just received my HP DV6t from HP, overall i love the machine except for one issue. When i press the mute button on screen my speakers pop/crackle ever so often Its annoying the hell out of me. It only happens when the stupid mute light is on. It crackles when a program opens. is this to remind me my computer is on mute or something. If i lower the volume all the way down no crackle. This thing is just weird.

Oct 25, 2014I have a HP 15 Notebook PC with no dvd drive recently I was sent the system recovery cds from HP. I dont have an external dvd drive. What i do have is a Toshiba Satelight laptop with Widows 7 and a good dvd drive. Also I have a 500 GB external hard drive. I was thinking maybe I could copy the disks onto the external harddrive with the Toshiba dvd drive. Then attach the external hard drive to my HP 15 Notebook by usb port and install Hp recovey disks from the external hard drive.
