I'm using a HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC running on Windows 8 64bit. About a week ago, my sound is randomly disappearing and I have to restart my laptop each time. Then, the sound works like normal, but when I don't use my laptop for some time (while it is still on), and I start a movie or something, the sound doesn't work. When I click the sound bar on the bottem-right corner, there's no green bar indicating sound.I've tried reinstalling sound drivers and reselecting a standard sound device, but nothing seems to work.
The sound disappears in my HP pAvilion Touchsmart when I open some videos online, like Facebook etc. I always ned to restart when that happens. This does not happen every time, but it always happen.
I have a problem with my notebook. When I power my device everything is fine, but after ... let's several minutes sound disappears. The strange thing is that "mute button" on my keyboard is not responding too, when I hit it theres no orange light and one the screen appears a lvl of volume ( normally it should be a crossed volume lvl). When I want to play Spotify or something like that it says that my Audio card is used by another program... The funny thing is that when I did something like "stress test" (I played Spotify when sound worked just after system start) sound was working for about 6 hours and everything was fine.
System: Windows 8 Model: Notebook HP Pavilion g6-2310sw
Also I'd like to add that every system restart fixes that problem but only for a while (several minutes).
So I've had my laptop for roughly around 9 months and I have started having trouble with it about 2 months after I got it. Although it may not be entirely the laptops fault as I think the person who sold it to me just wanted a quick sale because it does the bare minimum of what I expect it to do.
But lately to my great annoyance the audio has stopped working...for everything. Nothing I've tried has worked and every so often it will at random the sound will be back on again. It's done this on occassion about 5 months after I bought it and I didn't think anything of it but now it's happening everday and is driving me nuts!
I've tried uninstalling the sound and restarting but that doesn't do anything double and triple checked that nothing is on mute, I've used VLC, youtube and Windows Media Player to test it out and still nothing. In the control panel it says the sound is working but it's not. I've also tried putting in headphones and there isn't any sound from the headphones either.
The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..
I have an HP Pavillion g6 and the sound is not working at all. I tried troubleshooting the audio playback and then it started working. Then i realized only the system sounds started working.
When i play a video or any audio on my browser (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer) it does not work, but when i play a video/audio downloaded onto the pc, it works. Why is that?
I checked all my browser settings aswell and nothing is wrong.
I'm using a new Dell XPS 15. I have this laptop for about two weeks. Today is my first day trying to watch a movie on this laptop. Whenever I rest my hand on the hand rest or whatever you want to call it, the sound disappears. Must be design flaw.
I was watching something online when the sound became distorted (has happened before) so turned off G6 laptop and restatred worked well for 20 minutes and then it went all distorted again. Turned it off again and started it up again however this time the sound completely vanished. Tried iTunes, internet, and a movie on laptop and nothing is working anymore. Have checked all the easy sound things making sure I didn't turn it off but nope it all says device is working.
Ok, I havent had sound on my HP for 8 months. I have done all the troubleshooting I can and I really need to have sound on this PC. I have been working on this all week. Do I need to do a factory restore?? Model XY980UA#ABA, HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook.
We have an HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 7 program. Until yesterday it was working fine. But now we do not have any sound from it except when playing CDs or media music. Have tried and checked several setting etc. but cannot correct this problem. Laptop sound test is ok with and w/out headphones or external but not when trying to listen or hear anything when connected to the internet.
I've recently installed windows 8.1 and now have no sound. The speaker icon in the bottom right corner has a small red x on it, when i have the mouse over it, it says 'no audio output device is installed'. I found that updating the driver in sounds via the at control panel but this the said:
'Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it
IDT HD Audio CODEC
A device attached to the system is not functioning'...
I can't set my sound default. I recently got my computer updated and a few hours later, my sound stopped working, then my videos, too. I reinstalled my computer, but when it got to the point where you set sound defult, it wouldn't work. The sections "Configure" and "Properties" worked, but "Set Default" wouldn't. I am so frustrated because I need sound and video to do a lot of things on my computer.
My product name is: Windows 8 HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 PC

HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Product number C6M11EA#ABU driver version 8.0.0.8807
I have an older HP Pavilion dv 9000, with Windows 7. I was attempting to watch a video and noticed that the sound was muted. So, initially, I tried to turn it up, but it seemed locked. It had never done that before, so after several failed attempts, the mute sign disappeared and now it's just a red x, and when I go in to check it, it tells me that there is no sound hardware installed. I tried to install a new driver from your website but it is still not working.
Product Name is HP Pavilion 15 Notebook, Windows 8, no error messages, I did not make any change/s in the system. the problem now is that i cant hear any sound from the system
i'm the owner of a sleekbook HP Pavilion 15-b040sl. The OS is Windows 8.A few days ago i found a problem about the sound: the speaker didn't emit sound; all video or mp3 starts without sound.I decided to disinstall the driver of the sound. There were 3 driver; I found just 1, the others generated error during the installation.I miss two driver, i can't find them:
When I first used the laptop sound would sometimes come through the HDMI to the TV. Now it never does. When I look at playback devices there is no HDMI playback, but only "Speaker/HP". I have gone into the DTS audio panel, which also only lists one playback device. I have also right clicked in playback devices to show all disabled or disconnected devices and there aren't any others.
Laptop speakers or speakers plugged into the jack work fine. The video on the HDMI connection also works fine.
So far I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version and also uninstalled the realtek audio driver and installed the latest driver from HP's website.
None of this has caused sound to work through the HDMI or even an HDMI playback device to appear.
I have an HP Pavilion dm4 that I bought last summer, but I'm not sure which model #s specifically comes after that.
I just updated my HP BIOS and now I am not getting any sound from the speakers or through headphones, this has happened before though I admittedly cannot remember what the solution was.
As of this morning I have no sound on HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook internal speakers. Plug in headphones and all speakers work, both internal and headphones. Checked all settings and device manager - all o.k. Running Windows 7.
I recently noticed my Pavilion dv7 entertainment notebook won't play sound through the tv anymore. The picture is on the tv but sound is running through the laptop speakers? I never had a problem with this until now. When i open up the sound options, the ATI HDMI output says it's not connected and so it wont let me select it, but it is connected?
laptop hp pavilion ze 4800 windows 7 ultimate...My hp pavillion ze 4800 has not sound with windows 7 ultimate, I know that HP support service does not include drivers for windows 7 on this product only for windows xp. Nevertheless this Laptop has enough resources to run a windows 7 operating system except for the video card, but it's not much important for I use it to make common task only, moreover microsoft stopped supporting windows xp and if this Hp can take a windows 7 So why to make it useless.the audio driver for my laptop running windows seven.
I've recently bought an HP Pavillion 15 laptop with AMD/Realtek HD audio hardware and Beats Audio. Windows 8.1operating system. It's brand new out of the box with no updates made.
When I playback mp3 music via Windows Media Player, the volume is getting boosted during quiet parts. This is especially noticeable on tracks which fade out, the sound level gets progressively higher as the song fades out, like it's trying to maintain a constant playback volume. This creates a lot of background noise on music recorded from vinyl, for example.
I've checked it isn't the recording, by transferring the same mp3 file to another device and playing it there - the song plays back exactly as recorded, no problem.
I can't find any options in the audio devices (or beats audio) which might control this behaviour. Is there an equaliser somewhere in the system?
p.s. it behaves the same even with Beats Audio disabled. p.p.s it behaves the same with internal speakers, headphones and external speakers.
