I have owned my g6 notebook for five or six years. A few months ago I noticed that if I unplug it from the power adaptor it will work fine awhile then suddenly crash. This happens even with the battery fully charged.
I am considering buying a new battery, but I don't want to waste the money if it is a different problem since the battery seems fine.
I had a dv2700t, with a problem I described in this forum some time ago... I didn't manage to solve the problem and HP couldn't/wouldn't "fix" it... the problem was that the wireless... caused blue screens/crashes randomly while using internet (downloading large and small torrent files for example) this happened ONLY when using WIRELESS connection.
I now, after nagging on HP for months, own a dv7-1290.
Imagine my surprise when I get the same problem...the only difference that I've been able to discern between this problem and the old problem is that this computer doesn't crash the UBUNTU live cd that the other computer managed to do......
Just got my 1340 on Friday...nice looking machine. However I'm having some Blue Screen crashes.
I've reformatted the drive twice, to factory condition to get a clean start, but I still get the crashes.
I've only recently discovered that it seems to only happen when I unplug it, and run on batteries.
I've been working feverishly with the search funtion and have seen many with this issue but NO ONE has posted a follow up to what causes this.

My pavillion g6 keeps crashes whenever I try to turn it on. It'll go through the start up process but crashes just before reaching the start screen and go blank.

So I've had my laptop for roughly around 9 months and I have started having trouble with it about 2 months after I got it. Although it may not be entirely the laptops fault as I think the person who sold it to me just wanted a quick sale because it does the bare minimum of what I expect it to do.
But lately to my great annoyance the audio has stopped working...for everything. Nothing I've tried has worked and every so often it will at random the sound will be back on again. It's done this on occassion about 5 months after I bought it and I didn't think anything of it but now it's happening everday and is driving me nuts!
I've tried uninstalling the sound and restarting but that doesn't do anything double and triple checked that nothing is on mute, I've used VLC, youtube and Windows Media Player to test it out and still nothing. In the control panel it says the sound is working but it's not. I've also tried putting in headphones and there isn't any sound from the headphones either.
I have the HP- Pavilion g7 Notebook and have not had any problems until I was getting a Blue Screen of death after an update of Skype got on my computer. I had to do a system recovery several times until I found out this is a problem apparently caused by skype, now skype wants to update again and windows7 doesn't like it at all, the machine crashes again. Last resort, I downloaded an older verson of skype which works fine but in the long run doesn't solve the problem. If there is a fix what is it, I have not gotten any suggestions from skype, to get this resolved. The only thing I hear it might be related to some driver that has not been updated. What can I do?

It doesn't bluescreen, but when I'm watching youtube videos, the video will randomly stop and it'll say 'the amd driver has disconnected and successfully reconnected'.

So i have a hp pavilon m6 1007tx notebook purchased from thailand....It randomly starts to freeze ... Every thing exept the cursor stops responding for a while... it happens a lot... when i tried to do a hard disk check via hp diagnosis it said that SMART passed and Short SDT Failed... i googled about it and founded it was a hard disk problem... when checked my partition with the OS for error it said that errors were found and asked me to restart and repair so i did ... it did disk check and repair twice till 58 percent and un expectedly rebooted both the times .. now it is repairing disk error..

Then, the sound works like normal, but when I don't use my laptop for some time (while it is still on), and I start a movie or something, the sound doesn't work. View 4 Replies View RelatedI was initially trying to get my DVD to play blu rays. I downloaded a different player and uninstalled the HP mediasmart dvd. This didn't work so I deleted the new player and went into restore system to an earlier time and did so. After I restarted my computer it began randomly turning off and by that I mean the screen. It goes black. I click enter or left clidk the mouse (this seems to prompt it) then after 5 seconds or so the lights on the right side start blinking and the display returns. This has happened before and I forget the solution. Also, my battery died about a month ago so I removed it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavillion dv 6500. I am having a similar battery issue that has been discussed in other posts. The original battery "died" a couple of Months ago, and I purchased a new one from HP.
Now the icon in the System Tray shows "0 % available (Plugged in, not charging)". I installed the HP Support Assistant, and ran the Battery Test, The result was: Status: "Calibrate" and Current State: "Unknown".
Problem is that part of the "Calibrate" procedure is to allow the Battery to charge-up (to 99 to 100% charge), but I am unable to accomplish that, since the battery is not charging - the charge remains at 0 %, and never seems to charge.
Battery will no longer take a charge. I can use a different adaptor and I have the same problem. I can take the battery out and re-charge it in my Presario v5000 without any problem using same power brick. ergo no battery or power brick problems.
HP will only run on battery power. When power is plugged in green lite flashes and battery icon says it is charging, but it is not.
It will not run on AC.
I bought this HP Pavilion DV6-1160en laptop about 4 months ago and it was working wonderfully until recently. The problems started a few weeks back when I was playing NBA 2k9 and the screen started going dim and back to fully lit and back to dim every 20-30 seconds...
I rebooted as I expected it to keep doing that even with the game off.. and when it came back on it worked just fine. There are no problems with it until I start playing a game (any game, not just nba).
When playing I kept an eye on the light next to the charger connector and that was blinking along with the screen... so when I got annoyed I just changed the battery settings to keep the screen fully lit while on battery.. until a few days back the laptop went to hybernate in the middle of me playing a game because the battery died (although the charger was plugged in and the light on). The battery charges to 100%, holds a solid hour and a half, HP battery check rates it at 'good'..
I have a Pavilion dv6345us that I got back in June 2007 and I like the notebook but one of the main problems is that it keeps messing up the batteries.
The battery it came with ended up dying completely (doesn't hold a charge) within a year or so. Then I bought a 12-cell battery off eBay (generic brand) last summer/fall and now that battery too is almost completely dead.
I don't know if its a problem with the laptop or the battery so I don't know what to do. One thing I do notice is that the computer heats up a lot frequently so maybe that is the reason for the battery wear?
Only thing I have done to the computer is upgrade to 2GB RAM from the 1GB RAM it came with, a month after I bought it.
When the battery is very low like say 10%, no warning comes up saying that the battery is running low, instead my laptop chips out and it doesnt hibernate or sleep so whatever i do that isn't saved is lost so these days when the battery is low i plug it in and i can continue working. my laptop is a hp pavillion g6 2237nr and it got a pretty bad fall about a year ago but it was working fine up to now.Ialso want to know, if i do have to replace my hardrive will my intel core i3 processor go with it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy HP Pavilion dv9700 laptop died suddenly while I was using it, and I have been unable to get it to power on since. I've tried everything I can think of to bring it back to life. With the battery seated, whether or not the laptop is connected to AC power, pressing the power button causes the Battery LED (lightning bolt) to blink 3 times, and then nothing. Pressing either of the QuickPlay buttons (which would normally power it up) causes the same 3-blink result.If the laptop is connected to AC power, the ring around the power connector lights up. This is the only other response the machine shows to any action.
I've tried a Hard Reset (removing AC and battery, then holding the power button for 30+ seconds), unfortunately nothing changed. I've also reseated the hard drives and memory modules, and tried booting with each of the memory modules alone, in turn. No change. Thinking the problem might be a faulty power adapter (as reported by another dv9700 owner with this problem), I purchased a brand new "HP NOTEBOOK 90W SMART AC ADAPTER" (p/n KG298AA#ABA) and tried using it to power the laptop. my Laptop computer switches off unexpectecdly (without warning) when on battery, at times without getting to Low Battery Level or the Critical Level. when i do HP Battery Check with HP Support Assistant on my laptop, the result i get is my Battery is good.
Another issue i am having is that my Laptop doesnt go to sleep after some minutes of idleness as it was set to do on battery or plugged in to power. any information i can get on resolving these issues.

Suddenly, I have begun to receive a message on Start Up from HP Battery Alert. The message tells me that the level of the battery is critically low and that I may have to replace it. There is a web address offered to find out more - www2.hp.com/techcenter/startup/ (that address led me to this forum)
The battery charge monitor in the far right of the status bar tells me that there is no charge in the battery so that I can't use it without the mains lead. It also tells me that it is not charging, even though the mains lead is connected.
I receive the internal battery error on my HP Pavillion dv4 (dv4-1540us). What does this mean and what do I need to do?

If i plug the AC adapter, i get some computer activity (fan, dvd drive noise and HD drive spins) for about 5 seconds and then shuts down.
Once i plug the battery (which is dying, needing a replacement), the laptop boots fine.
So, my question is: is this a motherboard or an AC adapter issue?
The AC adapter seems ok, though. But if i'm considering to buy a spare battery, i must make sure that i don't need a new AC adapter as well.
I own a HP Pavilion G series laptop and have windows 8.1 running on it. Windows just made me finish an update after which it is not detecing my battery anymore. At first, it said: "Plugged in but not charging". Hence, I shutdown the computer, removed the battery and plugged it back in. Now it just says: "No battery is detected".
I should mention that I am not using the original battery that came with the laptop. It is an extended battery which was working fine until the update.
