View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavillion dv 6500. I am having a similar battery issue that has been discussed in other posts. The original battery "died" a couple of Months ago, and I purchased a new one from HP.
Now the icon in the System Tray shows "0 % available (Plugged in, not charging)". I installed the HP Support Assistant, and ran the Battery Test, The result was: Status: "Calibrate" and Current State: "Unknown".
Problem is that part of the "Calibrate" procedure is to allow the Battery to charge-up (to 99 to 100% charge), but I am unable to accomplish that, since the battery is not charging - the charge remains at 0 %, and never seems to charge.
Battery will no longer take a charge. I can use a different adaptor and I have the same problem. I can take the battery out and re-charge it in my Presario v5000 without any problem using same power brick. ergo no battery or power brick problems.
HP will only run on battery power. When power is plugged in green lite flashes and battery icon says it is charging, but it is not.
It will not run on AC.
I bought this HP Pavilion DV6-1160en laptop about 4 months ago and it was working wonderfully until recently. The problems started a few weeks back when I was playing NBA 2k9 and the screen started going dim and back to fully lit and back to dim every 20-30 seconds...
I rebooted as I expected it to keep doing that even with the game off.. and when it came back on it worked just fine. There are no problems with it until I start playing a game (any game, not just nba).
When playing I kept an eye on the light next to the charger connector and that was blinking along with the screen... so when I got annoyed I just changed the battery settings to keep the screen fully lit while on battery.. until a few days back the laptop went to hybernate in the middle of me playing a game because the battery died (although the charger was plugged in and the light on). The battery charges to 100%, holds a solid hour and a half, HP battery check rates it at 'good'..
I have a Pavilion dv6-1050us and prior to updating the bios as recommended by HP my charger would show both in the taskbar as the battery was charging and it was plugged in as well as on the led on the front left of the notebook. Since the update of the bios the charging icon in the taskbar no longer shows and the led light that shows the battery is charging no longer lights up. I know there is power going to the battery because the battery shows 100% remaining and will only discharge after I unplug the power supply. Is there a way to restore the bios to the previous verion even though the bios was flashed by the program HP uses? My antivirus program will not do it's weekly scan when the system thinks it's running on battery power. I must manually start the scan myself.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an older Inspiron 6400 (looks like the 1505) that isn't charging the battery. The bios indicates that the battery is charging, and that it is performing normally. There isn't a red flashing battery indicator, but when the laptop is powered on there isn't any "green light" indication of the battery, either. The AC adapter performs normally ( Charger is a PA10 (90watt) and it works fine on my D800, and charges that battery normally).
What I don't understand is why the BIOS indicates the battery is charging and that the battery is performing normally. However, when I have the system up and running there isn't a green battery indicator light on the button strip. Let me clarify that statement. During the initial boot phase of start-up there is the green indicator light on the button strip, but as the OS finishes loading this light goes out and the battery doesn't charge.
Could this be caused by a faulty Bios update, or is it something with the battery charging circuit of the motherboard? The laptop operates normally when using the AC adapter, just no indication of the battery charging when the OS is fully loaded. OS is Windows XP Pro (SP3).
My Laptop is 1 year and 5 months old. There are 2 problems I am facing with my battery:
1) When it is charging, at around 86% level, it stops charging and I see an orange light blinking at the battery icon and it continues to blink unless I turn the power off and allow the battery to discharge for a while.
2) at around 45% to 50% level, the battery level suddenly drops to 7% level and then I have to charge again.
Because of these issues I now use my laptop as a desktop. It is always plugged in and I use the option of "Stop Charging" in the windows power settings. how to solve the problem.
I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.
I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1183cl that has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and I have some issues.I have four errors showing up in my device manager, three Base System Device and one Unknown Device, and I don't know what they are or where to get the drivers (since I don't know what they are). Additionally, the battery will not charge (there does not appear to be anything wrong with it physically). I am wondering if the below errors are related to the battery issue. Below are the hardware IDs for each error entry.
Base System Device (PCI bus 6, device 0, function 1):

Whenever I am charging my laptop and using it, the screen lights up to the highest brightness (I keep it pretty low most of the time). This often leads to my mouse freezing, and then I have to shut off my laptop completely. I'm using a HP 2000 Notebook PC, with Windows 8.1 64-bit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy envy 15 1060ea notebook recently turned itself off when i was 1-0 up against Real Madrid on Football Manager with Hearts (true!) and will not power back up.
I performed a hard reset, now when I press the power button the charging light next to the AC power input blinks 3 times (which according to HP customer support webpages indicates a problem with the RAM)...
SO...I opened her up and replaced both RAM modules with brand new ones, done another hard reset and IM STILL GETTING 3 BLINKING LIGHTS and no start u.
i am using acer aspire 5600 xp/vista and LION battery.
my battery had memory effect once and could work for like 15-20 min.but its indicator worked fine at that time.
but now memory effect is gone and i am now facing a new problem.
At full charging, system shows that battery is not connected even it is connected.even if i unplug the AC supply still it thinks that notebook is running from AC supply.During this period i cant use my laptop keyboard and touchpad.I Can use only externally connected keyboard and mouse.
While notebook is using the laptop battery(Ac Unplugged),after sometime it detects the battery and the indicator shows 7% of battery time. Then my notebook keyboard and touchpad starts to work and then this percentage decreases to 0%. The time between shift of percentage is approx 10 min . Even On 0% the battery works fine and works for like 15 min. Overall Battery can work for like 1 hr 30 min approx(Low Performance).
My main problem is i cant use my laptop keyboard and touchpad while the battery is fully charged. i have to drain my battery in order to use keyboard and touchpad.
My E1705 battery refuses to charge. I had a bum power adapter which I had replaced. Got the new one today and it still won't charge my battery.
What occurs is that I plug in the power and the battery icon in Win7 indicates it is charging. The charging animation in Win7 continues until your battery is charged. But in my case after about 30sec the animation stops, and show a quarter charge and never fully charges.
This indicates a faulty battery I'm assuming? It wouldn't be the power port would it?
We purchased my wife's Sony SZ680NWC back in May 2008. Used it mostly tethered to the wall for 10 months. We then used it on and off with battery until early June 2009 and packed it away.
Yesterday, I turned it on with the battery in and tethered to the wall so I could back up some data.
The battery light was blinking and Windows XP shows that it was charging. It remained at 0% for hours. I turned it off and left it plugged in so the battery could charge. I woke up this morning and found that after 10 hours, the battery light was still blinking. Turning it on, I found it was still at 0%! There's no power to even run for 1 second unplugged!
I've unplugged the battery and power adapter. Held the power button and put the battery and power adapter back in. Still doesn't charge.
I'm stumped. It indicated that it's charging so I assume the charger and battery connectors are ok. Can't imagine how a battery can go south while in 6 months of storage.
The battery is the stock battery I got with the system, a VGP-BPL9 6 cell Sony extended battery.
Not sure if it's the same problem as adamcirillo (without a solution in the end) or this one from danS_GER (though his did not blink to indicate charging status, mine does).
I got myself the Dell XPS13 about 2 months back. I noticed that the battery does not charge beyond 91%. How do I fix this issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a two years old XPS M1730. A couple of months ago, the battery stopped charging even when plugged in. The battery light flashes red the whole time.
I have been told this may be a charger issue - do you guys agree? I'm out of warranty, so could do with the cheapest options first
My battery is not charging on my M1330. It's about 15 months old.
I've replaced the brick with no change.
In my replacement 1640, i have noticed there is an option to turn off battery charging.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just recently bought a 12-Cell battery for my DV2730.
My original 6-Cell battery fails to charge anymore so my laptop would not power up just on battery power.
I'd like to know more on how to take better care for my new battery, and so my question is; does HP laptop, cuts off charging when battery is already full? Because i noticed that the "charge/lightning LED" does not stay ON anymore when battery is full. Is this a correct indicator? Or should i remove my battery when running on external power?
I made an impulse buy while i was there a new HDX9494NR . Anyway ive come back to Ireland to discover that the battery refuses to charge .
Ive installed 7 on it to see if an os change would help but its the same as the factory os .
Im not sure if this is just a simple dud battery or a problem with the laptop .
i have a pavilion 2400 which i had sent in a week ago because there was no video. i guess they changed the motherboard, but they fixed that issue.
however, ever since getting the laptop back, the battery doesn't fully charge. only goes up to 66%.
i have my computer (win 7) set to high performance. I also keep it plugged it but it hasnt been charging my battery, its down to 35%. Does it have some sort of a cycle function where it waits until the battery is drained and then charges it back up? I dont want it to do this because when i need to use it on the go i would like a full battery.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got an HP Compaq nw8240 and when I move the mouse over the battery icon it says Plugged In, Not Charging. It only shows a 40% charge too, and if I unplug the AC adapter the battery will drain and then recharge back to 40% again.
I'm running the latest version of Windows 7 also.
I've also tried updating the BIOS but when I download the file from HP's support site it and run it all it does is restart my computer and nothing changes.
I just brought my friends Laptop home today, a HP dv9500. I happen to have the same one. Her's would not start i notice that when you plug the power adapter in the blue ring lights up, although the battery is not being charged. If i swap batteries it will run until that battery is dead. If i remove the battery while plugged in it will not start.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi bought my dell xps L502X last june but recently my battery is giving me problems. sometimes when i connect my charger i get the following pop up. The AC power adapter type cannot be determined.Your system will operate slower and battery will not charge.
Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation.Connect a Dell 130W AC adapter or higher.I've never used the battery badly. I always charge it to a 100% and then disconnect the charger and use the charge down to 7% until it asks me to plug in the charger. I keep disconnecting and reconnecting the charger or trying switching on and off the switch until it starts detecting my charger. I updated my bios to the latest version but nothing works. My laptop is still in the warranty till 22-05-2013.
I clicked on some smart charging options to extend battery life, and since then my battery isn't charging anymore. i can't find any options in dell battery meter to enable charging...
