It was working fine today until I had to charge it. When it was fully charged, I turned it on and the screen just froze. I tried shutting it down by pressing the power button but it didn't work. Now, the screen's just black but the power button's lit up (meaning it's turned on). What do I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Acer Aspire V3 Laptop that runs on the most current version of Windows 8. Ran perfectly fine last night without any kind of problems. Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.

The problem is that, when i shutdown my laptop, it doesnt shutsdown, it turns off the screen, but not the processor, fan, touchpad, the light and fan movement is ON and it never shuts down. Then I have forcibly press n hold the Power button to shut it down !
It also has a delayed Startup issue! But Restart function just works fine..!
I don't graphics drivers installed on the system - its AMD ATI RADEON 6700M HD - no compatible drivers available !
Is there anywhere I can confirm the maximum recommended temperatures for various components in my laptop?
I'm running CPUID HWMonitor after just having bought a chill pad but I'm not sure if the "max temperature" values are being read from my machine or are just arbitrary.
Also, am I correct that you can't read the fan speed on this model with any kind of diagnostic or monitoring app?
I have a T530 with an SSD, less than a year old, that appears to be bricked ... when the power button is pushed, there is absolutely no noise (no fan, no beeps) and no indicator lights.
I'm having trouble getting the "what happened" story out of the user but I heard something like "the battery ran out and now it won't start". I suspect some improper behavior like hauling the machine around when it was "sleeping" (not off) but that as they say is another story.
Elsenet I saw the following "one weird tip" to discharge static buildup (*)
* unplug power
* take out battery
* take out RAM
then a sequence where you pushed the power button 9x and on the 10th time held it for 30 seconds. Then plug power in and try again. No soap (although the ram is internal, not in the expansion slot, so I haven't disassembled the keyboard area to check).
I also unplugged the battery/power and held down the power button for one minute - still no luck
Swapped out power supply and battery - no luck
Only indications of "life" are the little battery icon on the top of the case (e.g. when computer is closed):
- Battery not installed - put power cord in, icon flashes green 3x, stops, but power button does not turn on
- Battery installed - put power cord in, icon flashes green 3x, flashes long orange 1x, flashes short green 1x more
Is there something else I can try or is this a "Call IBM/Get this guy a loaner"?
* laptop appears to be staticy, I have gotten a couple of "snaps" off it, and that doesn't regularly happen
The laptop won't power on. I've tried it with and without the battery. I've tried it with just the power cord. The light near the power cord lights up. When I press the power button it flashes once there and on the CapsLock key, then goes dark. I've tried removing the battery and power cord, holding down the power button for a minute, then plugging in the power cord. Same result.

Everytime i shut it down, windows shuts down correctly and the screen goes blank, BUT the power led still burns.
Also the power button is still lighted.
I can't switch it on using the power button. I've to unplug power or hold the power button for 4 sec.
Hardware test runs fine, no problems so far at all.
Nothing changed, only updates for windows.
Am using Delll N4050 more than a year, now am facing some shutdown issues.
Computer details: My Laptop shipped with ubundu and I installed windows 7 home premium.
Processor: Intel core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHz
System: 64-bit
Problem: For past one year it was working fine but now am facing shutdown issues. When I shutdown my laptop it's not shutting properly (i.e.) power led keeps glowing and fan keeps running until i long press power button to shut it down. But restart works fine. View 1 Replies View RelatedSo recently my laptop started randomly shutting off while I was gaming, I assumed it was the graphics card so I tried to use the intel hd graphics and disable the amd hd graphics to see if that would solve the issue, however it still happened. One thing I noticed is that now when I disable that graphics card the resolution is odd and the letters won't be as clear, I'm guessing this means it may be a motherboard issue.I moved on to thinking it was overheating due a fan problem, I bought a new thermal module for it and the same thing still happens.
I did the reset procedure (removed the battery and ac, pressed the power button for 60secs) and it still happened. I tried with a new battery and charger, same still happens.Lately it doesn't happen just while gaming, it will randomly shut down and once it does, sometimes it will shut down again and again before it even boots up, after a while it may boot up or may shut down again.It's really random and I cannot find a pattern....
I bought this HP Split X2 about two months ago. When I am working on it, if I move and the screen moves ever so slightly back and forth, it will completely shut down. I have to adjust the screen to a angle where the power button will turn it on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedReally odd issue. My touchpad does not respond at all after I wake the computer from sleep mode. The mouse buttons do not work and the touchpad is completely impossible to get to move. The only solution is to shut down the computer entirely and turn it back on.
Does anyone else have this issue? I've re-installed the mouse drivers and it keeps doing it. There is no way to re-create the problem; it just happens totally randomly (and usually very inconveniently).
I have Hp Pavilion 2000 notebook, on which when i am press f2,f3 for brightness increease or decrease, id does'nt do that. inface all other buttons are performing well, but when i press this, the brighness bar shows on the screen but newither it increases nor decreases.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Pavilion G6 that won't start at all when the power button is pushed. I've tried it on battery only, and with the power cord plugged in. Yet nothing.
Here is what I see: When the power cord is plugged in, the power LED next to the port is white. I press the power button and it momentarily flashes white (and the F12 LED flashes). Nothing else happens. No other LEDs lite, and the screen remains black.
DIagnostic steps followed:
1. Battery was removed, and unit unplugged. Power button held for 30 seconds, and plugged back in. Nothing.
2. Battery removed and unit plugged into the wall. Power button pushed and nothing.
3. Tried a different power cord, different battery .. nothing
4. Removed the RAM boards, power button pushed .. nothing
5. Removed the hard drive (RAM still uninstalled), power button pushed .. nothing
When I try to start my Inspiron XPS15 L502X DELL laptop by pressing the 'power on' button NOTHING happens.

i have a dell inspiron b130 and every once in a while the thing just shuts off lke the bat has been takin out, no shutdown process or nothin. i know the battery is shot, i was just wondering if its the cord or the ac jack on the computer itself? i can mess with the cord by the computer and i can get it to work. but also the cord has been chewed on near in the middle between the ac plug and the power brick....

I have tried hard resetting it by taking out the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds.
The button power button, f12 key, and cd button keeps blinking unless i take the battery out.
The ac adapter is working and I think the battery is ok because the led is blinking while i have no ac connected.
My laptop has started to shutdown randomly.
Battery is fine and power is plugged in. No Blue screen. No warning.
After replacing the fan, I have a power up issue with the laptop. Basically, the laptop will only power on with the power cable disconnected at the motherboard. It was by mistake that after the fan was replaced and everything was put back together, that I noticed that the battery was not charging.
I then reopened the machine and reconnected the power cable to the motherboard and nothing - no power.
When plugging in the power source with the battery in place, the LED adjacent to the power socket lights up WHITE then stays ORANGE and will not power up. No other lights, no fan noise, nothing.
If I remove the battery, the LED adjacent to the power socket lights up WHITE and stays white however will not power up either. Same agin, no other LEDs, not fan noise, nothing.
I have now opened the machine back up and disconnected the power from the motherboard. Put it all back together and the laptop powers up as normal with the battery and it works fine. (Well until the battery runs out anyway).
My notebook (pavilion g4) asks for an administration or power on password (which I don't remember). After trying several times it shows this message:
System Disabled: 81203610
Laptop was working fine up until yesterday. Then this happened...
1. Pressed the power button to turn on the laptop
2.the fans run and the computer makes its usual whirring noises as it would normally do whilst booting up.
3.the screen however remains completely inactive. As if the laptop is off.
4. I turned it off and on again several times. Once it came on and worked as normal, I could access all files and backup everything.
5. This morning I turned it back on and it has done the same thing. Makes the sounds as normal but screen is inactive.
I have turned off and on again and connected an HDMI cable to an external screen but there is no signal.
My HP laptop wont load after login... Turns on fine, once I log in it just shows a black screen with cursor....

I put it to a shop and they told me it was a motherboard/cpu problem and they couldn't source parts. I managed to get the parts. I put the motherboard first, but didn't work. I then added the cpu and put on thermal paste, but still didn't work.
My laptop will power on but I'm still getting a blinking light on the caps lock button and a black screen.
Everytime I go onto the internet, try to download something, try to open a new tab my Laptop will freeze, and usually it will not let me open the task manager when I press CTRL + ALT + DEL. I have run virus scans with Norton (I am still in my free 90 day trial) and no threats have been found, I have done disc defragmenter, I have scanned the computer for errors, I have performed disc clean ups and why it is still freezing. I have also changed my Internet browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox and I still seem to have the same problems.why it keeps freezing.
