HP Pavilion G6-1b59wm :: Won't Start When Power Button Pushed
Oct 7, 2014
I have a Pavilion G6 that won't start at all when the power button is pushed. I've tried it on battery only, and with the power cord plugged in. Yet nothing.
Here is what I see: When the power cord is plugged in, the power LED next to the port is white. I press the power button and it momentarily flashes white (and the F12 LED flashes). Nothing else happens. No other LEDs lite, and the screen remains black.
DIagnostic steps followed:
1. Battery was removed, and unit unplugged. Power button held for 30 seconds, and plugged back in. Nothing.
2. Battery removed and unit plugged into the wall. Power button pushed and nothing.
3. Tried a different power cord, different battery .. nothing
4. Removed the RAM boards, power button pushed .. nothing
5. Removed the hard drive (RAM still uninstalled), power button pushed .. nothing
I have a Ferrari 5000 ZC3. It quit working, all was working fine it shut down itself and now it wont start at all, I only have a black screen. All that lit's up is the power button. the Numlock and caps lock led lights up about .5 sec. the hdd light lights up for about 5 seconds. when the power button is pressed again it goes off immediately.
To eliminate a hdd failure I have removed the hdd and powered up without the hard drive installed, no change at all besides that the hdd led doesn't light up.
I currently have a Acer Aspire V3 Laptop that runs on the most current version of Windows 8. Ran perfectly fine last night without any kind of problems. Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.
When I try to start my Inspiron XPS15 L502X DELL laptop by pressing the 'power on' button NOTHING happens.
I have tried the methods suggested on the forum site (remove battery-press power button for 40 secs-put battery back -start) but nothing happens. The laptop refuses to start. No lights, no message, just NOTHING.
I have a dell Inspiron and when i press the power button, my laptop sounds a high pitched beeping noice 8 times in a sequence with the screen black and doesn't turn on....what should i do...
I just bought my HP Pavilion 360 less than a month ago and it's only been used for schoolwork and research. No virus or threats were detected. It was working fine today until I had to charge it. When it was fully charged, I turned it on and the screen just froze. I tried shutting it down by pressing the power button but it didn't work. Now, the screen's just black but the power button's lit up (meaning it's turned on). What do I do?
My laptop wont turn on, whenever I press the power button all the lights light up for about a second, I here the fans turn on and then it shuts off. When I plug the charger in the the charger light blinks, but thats it.
The model is a HP Pavilion 15-n278sa. My laptop shuts down randomly when it is clearly completely cool, when it has shutdown, the power button will not respond, and the laptop will flash on, and shutdown immediately if it is moved/picked up/tilted, while it is off.The laptop is increasingly getting more unstable and I'm unable to use it...
I have a major problem with my hp pavilion dv6-3143sa laptop.
I put it to a shop and they told me it was a motherboard/cpu problem and they couldn't source parts. I managed to get the parts. I put the motherboard first, but didn't work. I then added the cpu and put on thermal paste, but still didn't work.
My laptop will power on but I'm still getting a blinking light on the caps lock button and a black screen.
I'm having this extremely annoying problem with my HP Pavilion dv6-model1334us. Everytime I try to start up my laptop it always shows the menu screen saying Launch Start Up Repair or Start Windows Normally. I've tried to do a system restore multiple times, but the screen just stops on a blue screen. No it isn't the Blue Screen of Death, but it does attempt to start but fails and stands on the screen until it automatically or manually shuts down.
Basically I bought a Dell Inspirion 1525 with Vista, Downgraded to XP, had to change the Hard drive to IDA for the system to recognise XP. Been running fine then I pressed the MD button by mistake thinking it was the power button, it gets as far as 'Building you MD files' then says ''DMD cannot access your hard drive. This maybe because you have enabled Microsoft Bit Locker (Drive Encryption)'' etc etc. Now i'm hoping that means it hasn't wiped my HD cos i've read a load of people who've had problems with that button wiping everything out but i think it can't recognise my HD cos I switched it to IDA.
Anyways whenever I press the power button now it keeps loading MD and doing the same cycle and I can't load XP at all, tried loading it in safe mode and it crashes. PLEASE HELP ME!!! I can't get windows on at all and I really don't care about MD, infact when I can access windows again i'll be researching how to deactivate the MD button so this doesn't happen again unless someone can provide that info aswell
When i push the start button, it seems as if the process has started... the screen gets a tiny bit brighter but It hangs until i push it again. THEN it starts right up
I purchased a new Dell XPS 11 9P33 a few days ago and the Windows logo button located on the touch screen is randomly vibrating and switching to the Windows start menu in Windows 8.1. The Windows button will randomly vibrate and switch to the start menu even when no one is touching the laptop. It seems to start slow at first happening once every few minutes then it gets worse so that the Windows button is switching to the start menu rapidly several times in a row making the laptop unusable.
Rebooting the laptop doesn't seem to work, the issue comes right back in a few minutes. This happens when viewing the BIOS without being logged into Windows so it appears to be a hardware issue. The local computer store had another Dell XPS 11 in stock so I exchanged it for the other one but now the new XPS 11 has the exact same issue that the first XPS 11 had. It has BIOS version A00 installed which appears to be the latest BIOS version. It's a great laptop otherwise and I would love to keep it, is there any possibility this will be fixed in an upcoming BIOS update?
what's the problem with my laptop? It's dell insiron 15 m5010. when I press the start botton nothing shows and it beeps 7 times, stops 2 seconds and beeps again?
Pushing the start button, the LED-Lights blink for a short time (1second)....., thats all. However, once in a week or in a month, the laptop starts and runs without problems. What can I do ??
my studio 1555 is around 3 weeks old and I already have a problem..the power button turns on only after 3-4 attempts of pressing it...sometimes more...sometimes less....
I have had my TZ for a year and 2 weeks ago the power button wont switch the laptop on, when i push it just wont turn on. (nothing to do with the battery). i sent the laptop to sony and they told me it would cost $900 to fix, so i said no way im going to pay that much. so i am now stuck with the TZ, is there an alternate way to put the laptop on?
I found an antique Powerbook 520C at my uncle's place. I got it to start by randomly pressing button's as none of them sports the universal power swith symbol but it shut down on me... Can anyone tell me where is the power switch on that thing?
The power button on my XPS 13 has been slowly becoming less and less responsive when the machine is powered off and has now (After ~a year and a half) reached the point where it will no longer power on at all.
What makes this more confusing is that the button seems to work normally whenever the machine is on.
My laptop shutsdown fine but the power button stays on. If I hold the button for a few seconds it will turn off but then I sometimes get an error message when I restart the laptop!
A few days ago I noticed that when I pressed the power button to turn on the computer, there was a delay of about five seconds before the computer reacted..
That was weird, I thought, but nothing unbearable. Today when I started up my computer, not only was there a delay, but when it did start up I got the BSOD.
It was only there for a few seconds so I couldn't read much of what it said.............................................
I know that in the power options you can change what pressing the power button does, but "lock" isn't an option. Before I upgraded to Windows7, I discovered how to set this but I can't figure out how to do it anymore.
My daughter was using her laptop (19 months old Inspiron 15R N5010) a couple days ago when all of a sudden, all but the bottom of her screen went black, the bottom was all garbled. Then a weird shrieking noise came out of the laptop and everything powered off (it was on battery). So she plugs in the ac power cord, thinking her battery was dead. Computer started to power on, fans & hard-drive spinning, but no screen at all, all black. After a couple minutes, the same weird shrieking sound and everything off again, but that time, a burnt smell came out of the fan exhaust.
Now, with our without ac power, the only thing that "works" on the laptop is the power button LED, everything else is silent. No fan, no hard-drive, no dvd player spinning. It's out of warranty, unfortunately, and hse needs it for class. I've fixed laptop before, actually on 2 occasions I replaced motherboards on other brand laptops without any issues... but while looking at the inside of the N5010, there are 2 boards inside, the mother board, and the power/ac/wan board...
My laptop, an Inspiron 15R, will not turn on. When I press power button, it beeps 3 times. Owner manuel says 3 beep codes mean possible system board failure - chipset error. As luck would have it my warranty went out in December. Does this mean the hard drive on my computer has crashed?
