When I try to start my Inspiron XPS15 L502X DELL laptop by pressing the 'power on' button NOTHING happens.
I have tried the methods suggested on the forum site (remove battery-press power button for 40 secs-put battery back -start) but nothing happens. The laptop refuses to start. No lights, no message, just NOTHING.
My laptop (XPS L502X) doesn't turn on anymore.
I used to run it on the AC adapter anyway since my battery malfunctioned long time back.It was working fine until one day out of nowhere it refused to start up.Then after a day I tried again and it did turn on. Used it for a few hours and then shut it down. And again when I tried to start it, it didn't. Also, I once closed the lid when it was on and it lost the power as opposed to shutting down. What could be the problem?
I currently have a Acer Aspire V3 Laptop that runs on the most current version of Windows 8. Ran perfectly fine last night without any kind of problems. Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Dell 17r will not start and emits a constant, steady beeping. It is not the usual bright beep code, but more of a subdued, muffled beep. It is constant and never stops. There is no code.
I have tried all the other listed fixes or testing that has been posted in about 50 other threads. Powering off, pulling the battery, discharging the extra power, swapping memory around, etc etc.
The problem is slightly intermittent as it will sometimes boot normally. Diagnostics revealed nothing and reports everything is fine.
It doesn't appear heat related either as it can happen when dead cold after sitting for 3 days or after it has been working for an hour in diag mode.
Tried to boot up my inspiron, and all I got was a black screen, and a loud clicking sound. I have win 8 installed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy two-year old laptop (Inspiron N7110 Windows 7 64 bit home) s refusing to wake from sleep. The power button just glows steadily and nothing happens at all happens when I press it to try to wake it. I have to hold the power button down to shut it right off, then restart.
I did a number of updates before this happened, including:
-update Firefox
-update Garmin Lifetime Updater
-update Intel My WIFI to Intel Dashboard
-update drivers for Bamboo pen tablet
-update Norton antivirus software
-sign into Dell PC Checkup on Dell Support Centre and downloaded and installed all their recommended updates.
I did another Dell PC Checkup just now and everything passed.
I have checked the power saving schemes and tried switching to different ones (I use the Dell settings). No Success.
I tried playing with the 'choosing what the power buttons do' options in the power saving schemes - no success.
I own an Acer Aspire v5-572P-6858 laptop. I was using it last night and it worked perfectly fine. I turned it off and set it aside for the next day. Today I woke up and tried to turn on my laptop but nothing happened. Pressing the power button gets no result. The battery is charged as well. What do I do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy T420 takes about 20 seconds from pushing the power on button to the Lenovo POST screen. After that boot takes about 30 seconds to Desktop. What bothers me is this long wait until I see the POST screen. It doesn't seem normal to me.
My System is setup with Windows 7 64bit booting from UEFI on a mSATA Crucial M500 SSD. It has 16GB of Ram and a i7 CPU. I have the newest BIOS (1.46) installed.
Why it takes this long to reach the POST screen?
I got a X230 with 4GB 1Rx8 PC3-12800S-11-12-B4 memory installed. I tried to upgrade it with two Kingston KVR1066D3S7/4G 1.5V memory sticks.
Unfortunately after installing new memory sticks (combinations don't matter) my laptop doesn't power on. After pressing the button there's just a flash and BIOS doesn't boot.
Everything is back to normal after restoring the previous RAM configuration.
Is there something wrong with my memory sticks or is it some kind of bior issue or maybe something else?
My dell xps L502x turned off suddenly and now wont start at all. On pressing the power button, its light blinks once so does the light of the CD rom blinks just once thats it, no display, no keyboard lights, just the blinking of the power button and cd rom! is it about the hard disk or my motherboard or the memory modules, or the graphic card???
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Pavilion G6 that won't start at all when the power button is pushed. I've tried it on battery only, and with the power cord plugged in. Yet nothing.
Here is what I see: When the power cord is plugged in, the power LED next to the port is white. I press the power button and it momentarily flashes white (and the F12 LED flashes). Nothing else happens. No other LEDs lite, and the screen remains black.
DIagnostic steps followed:
1. Battery was removed, and unit unplugged. Power button held for 30 seconds, and plugged back in. Nothing.
2. Battery removed and unit plugged into the wall. Power button pushed and nothing.
3. Tried a different power cord, different battery .. nothing
4. Removed the RAM boards, power button pushed .. nothing
5. Removed the hard drive (RAM still uninstalled), power button pushed .. nothing
I have a Ferrari 5000 ZC3. It quit working, all was working fine it shut down itself and now it wont start at all, I only have a black screen. All that lit's up is the power button. the Numlock and caps lock led lights up about .5 sec. the hdd light lights up for about 5 seconds. when the power button is pressed again it goes off immediately.
To eliminate a hdd failure I have removed the hdd and powered up without the hard drive installed, no change at all besides that the hdd led doesn't light up.
When I try to open a laptop. It start producing beep sounds, like four times then an interval than again four beep sound.

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error message,
and Stop Code: 0x00000050.
Then I did 'system restore', it didn't work.
I tried 'chkdsk' it didn't work
I tried 'System Repair', it didn't work either
I took out the RAMs and re-seated them, it didn't work,
Now its even worse, the PC won't even come on at all.
I just bought my HP Pavilion 360 less than a month ago and it's only been used for schoolwork and research. No virus or threats were detected. It was working fine today until I had to charge it. When it was fully charged, I turned it on and the screen just froze. I tried shutting it down by pressing the power button but it didn't work. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem on my Acer 1810tz - when I press a Function button, such as Fn + F8 = mute/unmute sound, there is a very long delay of up to 3 seconds between pressing the button and seeing the speaker symbol show up on screen.
Acer's Launch Manager program is what displays the on-screen symbols. I have installed the latest version from the Acer website (it is a fresh install of Win7 64bit) found here, version 3.0.02.
When I purchased the laptop the symbols appeared straight away but now, after a fresh install, there is a long delay. All I have installed is chipset/graphics drivers and touchpad drivers.
My laptop wont turn on, whenever I press the power button all the lights light up for about a second, I here the fans turn on and then it shuts off. When I plug the charger in the the charger light blinks, but thats it.

1. Pressed the power button to turn on the laptop
2.the fans run and the computer makes its usual whirring noises as it would normally do whilst booting up.
3.the screen however remains completely inactive. As if the laptop is off.
4. I turned it off and on again several times. Once it came on and worked as normal, I could access all files and backup everything.
5. This morning I turned it back on and it has done the same thing. Makes the sounds as normal but screen is inactive.
I have turned off and on again and connected an HDMI cable to an external screen but there is no signal.
The model is a HP Pavilion 15-n278sa. My laptop shuts down randomly when it is clearly completely cool, when it has shutdown, the power button will not respond, and the laptop will flash on, and shutdown immediately if it is moved/picked up/tilted, while it is off.The laptop is increasingly getting more unstable and I'm unable to use it...

Here exactly what happened:
(1) While working, he turned off (I thought loss of power, but the external HDD worked, so that wasn't it).
(2) I pressed Power, the white ACER screen came up, I pressed F2 to check the setup and was hoping that it was just a short clinch with minimal loss of data in windows, but... a few seconds later, the screen turned black..
(3) I pressed power again to turn it off, again to turn it on and this time, black already, no ACER white-screen at all...
(4) What happens if I press power now, is always the same > the fan starts, the DVD-Drive makes short sound + HDD starts (as it all should usually) -> but then after3 seconds or so, without beep, the fan turns off, the HDD keeps turning, but nothing else happens anymore - all black like dead
Dell Inspiron 17R laptop, close to 2 years old.
For a couple of months, the laptop refuses to boot when turning it on. Screens stays completely black, never reaches the Dell-logo. The power-LED burns normally, CPU lights up for a few seconds, then dies out. I hear the fans starting and I think the hard disk starts as well.
The speakers start making an intermittent beeping sound, short beep every +- 3 seconds.
At this point, I have to interrupt the proces, and restart. Occasionally, the computer does start normally (around 10-30 times trying). In the beginning, this took only a few times trying, but it's getting worse.
When the computer comes back from sleep, it doesn't have any problems, only when it's (re)started, or coming from hibernation (deep sleep).
My laptop doesnt want to turn on at all while pressing the power switch. When this problem occured, i dont know how the laptop automatically powered on without me touching it. THe second time it turned on, i tried to pressed the power button, the laptop didnt go to sleep mode, which is supposed to happen normally. I tried holding the switch for more than 10 seconds, it didnt powered off. When i hit restart from the charm bar, the laptop shuts down and turns back on without problem.. But then i hit the shutdown, it turned off... But, i cant get it back on, i even tried holding it for a minute. I even took the battery out, tried it with the AC, but no luck..

Every time I turn on the laptop, I have to flip the screen open press the switch and then close the lid just to turn it on. View 15 Replies View RelatedI bought this laptop on 16 December, and got on with transferring apps and files from my old desktop PC. All OK until last Sunday, when I left the laptop doing a Win 8.1 update overnight. Next morning, it was requesting a reboot, but then, after the initial HP logo, the screen goes blank for some minutes. Then the Win 8 screen appears with a message:
"LogonUI.exe - Application Error. The instruction at 0x00b1645a referenced memory at 0x00000008. The memory could not be written."
When I click on OK, the screen goes blank then flashes. The message re-appears, with the same result. I have tried to boot the machine from a CD and a USB pen drive, after changing the boot sequence in the BIOS/UEFI screen, but with the same result. What should I do?
I am facing a strange problem with my Inspiron 6400, a tick sound is heard from the laptop internal speakers everytime I press a key on keyboard OR even if I press a multimedia key provided at the front of the laptop. This has never happened before and I am unable to fix it.
The sound starts coming as soon as the system boots up. I have both Vista and XP installed so I get an option to select the OS I want to choose on startup. I hear the sound on pressing any key of keyboard even at this stage before selecting the OS. This confirms that it has nothing to do with the OS but is something wrong at the hardware level or BIOS, which I want to find out and need your help.
Two days back there was a Blue screen with some error (which I couldn't recall) and the problem started after that. It asked me to shutdown the machine to prevent further damage. I forcefully shut it down and then it wouldn't boot until I pressed the ESC key several times. However after that, the system is booting up normally but the sound keeps coming. How annoying it is.
I tried muting the internal PC speakers from Vista/XP but to no avail.
So I've been having some trouble for a while with this thing, when it goes into standby or is starting up often it will do this thing where no lights come on at all, including the power button, all I hear is the fan whirl at top speed. That's it.
Sometimes if I let it sit for a day and try it again, it boots no problem. Sometimes I have to remove the battery, press Fn for a while, and then unplug power and it will boot. Sometimes removing the Flee power by holding down the power button after everything, ac adapter and battery, are removed. But this time nothing is working.
This thing is not even two years old, and I am getting further and further discouraged by the Dell brand. I have always had great sucess with my work computer's being Dell so thought I would go that route for my personal. But alas I've read numerous things with this type of laptop having fan/video issues though nothing sounds like my problem.
All it does is spin it's fan when the power button is pressed. It got into this state when the screen was closed and it was forced into standby. It would not come out of standby, and would not shutdown by holding the power button. Had to removed battery and ac to get it to shut down. It has yet to come back.
