Acer Aspire V3 :: Laptop Won't Start - Power Button Does Not Respond
Nov 9, 2014
I currently have a Acer Aspire V3 Laptop that runs on the most current version of Windows 8. Ran perfectly fine last night without any kind of problems. Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.
The model is a HP Pavilion 15-n278sa. My laptop shuts down randomly when it is clearly completely cool, when it has shutdown, the power button will not respond, and the laptop will flash on, and shutdown immediately if it is moved/picked up/tilted, while it is off.The laptop is increasingly getting more unstable and I'm unable to use it...
When I try to start my Inspiron XPS15 L502X DELL laptop by pressing the 'power on' button NOTHING happens.Â
I have tried the methods suggested on the forum site (remove battery-press power button for 40 secs-put battery back -start) but nothing happens. The laptop refuses to start. No lights, no message, just NOTHING.
I have a T530 with an SSD, less than a year old, that appears to be bricked ... when the power button is pushed, there is absolutely no noise (no fan, no beeps) and no indicator lights.  I'm having trouble getting the "what happened" story out of the user but I heard something like "the battery ran out and now it won't start". I suspect some improper behavior like hauling the machine around when it was "sleeping" (not off) but that as they say is another story.  Elsenet I saw the following "one weird tip" to discharge static buildup (*)  * unplug power * take out battery * take out RAM  then a sequence where you pushed the power button 9x and on the 10th time held it for 30 seconds. Then plug power in and try again. No soap (although the ram is internal, not in the expansion slot, so I haven't disassembled the keyboard area to check).  I also unplugged the battery/power and held down the power button for one minute - still no luck  Swapped out power supply and battery - no luck  Only indications of "life" are the little battery icon on the top of the case (e.g. when computer is closed):  - Battery not installed - put power cord in, icon flashes green 3x, stops, but power button does not turn on - Battery installed - put power cord in, icon flashes green 3x, flashes long orange 1x, flashes short green 1x more
Is there something else I can try or is this a "Call IBM/Get this guy a loaner"? Â * laptop appears to be staticy, I have gotten a couple of "snaps" off it, and that doesn't regularly happen
I have a Ferrari 5000 ZC3. It quit working, all was working fine it shut down itself and now it wont start at all, I only have a black screen. All that lit's up is the power button. the Numlock and caps lock led lights up about .5 sec. the hdd light lights up for about 5 seconds. when the power button is pressed again it goes off immediately.  To eliminate a hdd failure I have removed the hdd and powered up without the hard drive installed, no change at all besides that the hdd led doesn't light up.Â
Pushing the start button, the LED-Lights blink for a short time (1second)....., thats all. However, once in a week or in a month, the laptop starts and runs without problems. What can I do ??
I have a Pavilion G6 that won't start at all when the power button is pushed. I've tried it on battery only, and with the power cord plugged in. Yet nothing.  Here is what I see: When the power cord is plugged in, the power LED next to the port is white. I press the power button and it momentarily flashes white (and the F12 LED flashes). Nothing else happens. No other LEDs lite, and the screen remains black.  DIagnostic steps followed:  1. Battery was removed, and unit unplugged. Power button held for 30 seconds, and plugged back in. Nothing.  2. Battery removed and unit plugged into the wall. Power button pushed and nothing.  3. Tried a different power cord, different battery .. nothing  4. Removed the RAM boards, power button pushed .. nothing  5. Removed the hard drive (RAM still uninstalled), power button pushed .. nothing
I own an Acer Aspire v5-572P-6858 laptop. I was using it last night and it worked perfectly fine. I turned it off and set it aside for the next day. Today I woke up and tried to turn on my laptop but nothing happened. Pressing the power button gets no result. The battery is charged as well. What do I do?
I have an ACER Aspire 5542g and i've had a problem with it lately, when I turn it on, the fan starts running, the harddrive turns on, and the CD drive starts up, the power button LED is on, but all that shows up is a black screen. I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely)Â it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.Â
I have an Aspire V5-572P-6454. Â Occasionally I accidentally hit the power button on the side of the computer and it makes my screen go black. Â I can't figure out how to get me screen back, thought it was a lighting issue and tried Fn and the left and right arrows, but that doesn't work. Â Usually end up rebooting and losing what I've been working on.
I have a acer aspire 5520 with the following problem: when I start him take fan rotate the battery light comes on, but also nothing. He continues then just restart and should I remove the battery to stop this.
Have this laptop a couple of months for sons schoolwork. Now it wont stay on unless power cord in. When its on, verything goes fine, it battery icon says its at 98%avaliable (plugged in, not charging). As soon as cord is out, it dies completely no power even when start button pushed.
I have a dell Inspiron and when i press the power button, my laptop sounds a high pitched beeping noice 8 times in a sequence with the screen black and doesn't turn on....what should i do...
I recently formatted my Acer Aspire 5935G and downloaded and installed all drivers from the Acer website. I currently am experiencing the following probs:
1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
I just bought my HP Pavilion 360 less than a month ago and it's only been used for schoolwork and research. No virus or threats were detected. It was working fine today until I had to charge it. When it was fully charged, I turned it on and the screen just froze. I tried shutting it down by pressing the power button but it didn't work. Now, the screen's just black but the power button's lit up (meaning it's turned on). What do I do?
Acer E5-471..... When I attempt to start my laptop it goes to the Acer logo screen and will not boot Windows 8. Only black screen and mouse pointer appear. How can i fix it?
When I am working on my laptop off battery power and I shut the monitor without shutting the pc down, at times it seems like the pc is in sleep mode but will not respond. I have to (I guess you would call it hard start it), reboot it to get it working again. Usually the screen is black when I reopen my laptop. Today, browser was barely visible. What is going on with my pc?
I'm having major trouble with my laptop (an Acer Aspire 3660) which is about 2 years old now. I don't know if there is a problem with the internal power socket or something else, but sometimes when it is plugged it just won't run off the mains or charge the battery. Sometimes I can get it to charge up, seemingly by rotating the power cord cable but at other times it will randomly go to battery even though absolutely nothing has moved, and sometimes it will go to battery power with the slightest little nudge. I don't think this could be related to the battery as the battery seems to work fine (although it does drain quickly I guess it's pretty old in laptop terms). Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions? I bought a new power cable (completely new including power pack and the plug end) but the problem still happens.
My laptop wont turn on, whenever I press the power button all the lights light up for about a second, I here the fans turn on and then it shuts off. When I plug the charger in the the charger light blinks, but thats it.
I have tried creating a recovery disk using the ‘Acer Empowering Technology’ but every time i click on the “create factory default disc” button, the “Acer eRecovering Management” freezes and i get an error message saying : Acer Empowering Technology Framework launcher has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows is collecting more information about the problem.
Another thing, i know how to unhide the 'PQSERVICE' partition, but i'm wondering if it's possible to create these discs directly from the partition without the need for the faulty 'eRecovery Management'. If yes, how?
My keyboard has started being erratic and not responding when some keys are pressed. I use the notebook mostly as a docking station, with a larger monitor and separate keyboard, so it's not an issue of the keys being misused or over-used. It's not related (as far as I can determine) to caps lock or any interference with USBs. It happens when I'm booting up as well as when I'm typing in a document and with nothing attached to the computer other than the power cable.
My battery on my acer draws power at times when my laptop is plugged in  it will work ok then the on and off button will start to blink  It will go into  hibernation when plugged in when the battery gets to  low....
Looking for a Boot Disk or Start up disk for an Aspire 4720Z or a place to download one. She has been doing finals etc for the past week without it at college.
I am not very good with PCs although I have changed the Power supply to my PC in the past!I have a Dell XPS15 Laptop (Specs included at the bottom). Will adding memory or changing the Graphics card work at all? Can I add any memory at all to make it work faster?

How to clear everything off of my Acer laptop and completley start over? I have a stupid Acer laptop, and it's been running very slow latley. I removed almost all of the programs that I had downloaded, and it's still being slow.
I want to reboot the entire thing and start off brand new.
I tried reading the manuel and I don't see anything in it about rebooting the system.
