View 8 RepliesI currently have a Acer Aspire V3 Laptop that runs on the most current version of Windows 8. Ran perfectly fine last night without any kind of problems. Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.

Today I woke up and tried to turn on my laptop but nothing happened. Pressing the power button gets no result. The battery is charged as well. What do I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an ACER Aspire 5542g and i've had a problem with it lately, when I turn it on, the fan starts running, the harddrive turns on, and the CD drive starts up, the power button LED is on, but all that shows up is a black screen. I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely) it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire V5-572P-6454. Occasionally I accidentally hit the power button on the side of the computer and it makes my screen go black. I can't figure out how to get me screen back, thought it was a lighting issue and tried Fn and the left and right arrows, but that doesn't work. Usually end up rebooting and losing what I've been working on.

push power button blue light comes on and goes off nothing
I recently formatted my Acer Aspire 5935G and downloaded and installed all drivers from the Acer website. I currently am experiencing the following probs:
1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
- Both video cards are installed
Current OS - Vista Ultimate x86 SP1
I have a Ferrari 5000 ZC3. It quit working, all was working fine it shut down itself and now it wont start at all, I only have a black screen. All that lit's up is the power button. the Numlock and caps lock led lights up about .5 sec. the hdd light lights up for about 5 seconds. when the power button is pressed again it goes off immediately.
To eliminate a hdd failure I have removed the hdd and powered up without the hard drive installed, no change at all besides that the hdd led doesn't light up.
I have an Aspire 6930 that suddenly died and will not power on. The LED power button was dark and unresponsive. I performed a power reset and the blue light on the power button came back on until I pressed the button to try to restart the laptop. When I did that, the blue LED immediately went dark and stayed that way until I did another power reset. It never gets to the point of anything powering on. Is it a problem with the battery or it the laptop toast?
This is a real bummer since I just replaced the hard drive a few weeks ago and replaced Windows Vista with Linux Mint (which btw is blazing fast compared to Vista).
Acer 5253 - Will not power on, battery or on AC power. Have tried all the suggested solutions but none have worked. Is it possible to get maintenace instructions (disassembly, where certain items are located, etc)?

I do have one gripe (OK, more than one, but this is the one that niggles most often).
Is there a way to assign Mute to the P button?
Yes, I know I can click on the speaker icon in the tray or press Fn+F8, but there really needs to be a one-button solution for when the phone rings or someone walks in unexpectedly.
I have a Acer Aspire 5590 and where my mouse pad is the left button ( left click ) is broken like it moves and doesn't click properly. I was wondering if you guys know how I could fix this or get a new button?

I can adjust the volume of the notebook, but I can't however adjust the brightness of the screen. There is no brightness setting in my notebook whatsoever! Am I missing the brightness driver? what is the name of the brightness driver? Or is it something else. Taking into account that I have decrease/increase brightness symbols on the left/right buttons respectively.

I was wondering if the LED power button on the right side of the laptop could be user modified to change to, let's say blue. Is that possible?

i restarted, and then it would not turn on.
I hit the power button, took off the battery, tried every thing i could think of... (including holding the power button, cause who knows,)
so... i decided to give dell a call...
Despite my lack of service tag or warranty, i was instructed to hold "Power + FN + Esc"
This booted to dell diagnostic mode...from here, i was instructed to cancel right away, then try to boot normally, which worked.
I have had my TZ for a year and 2 weeks ago the power button wont switch the laptop on, when i push it just wont turn on. (nothing to do with the battery). i sent the laptop to sony and they told me it would cost $900 to fix, so i said no way im going to pay that much. so i am now stuck with the TZ, is there an alternate way to put the laptop on?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe power button on my XPS 13 has been slowly becoming less and less responsive when the machine is powered off and has now (After ~a year and a half) reached the point where it will no longer power on at all.
What makes this more confusing is that the button seems to work normally whenever the machine is on.
My laptop shutsdown fine but the power button stays on. If I hold the button for a few seconds it will turn off but then I sometimes get an error message when I restart the laptop!
View 2 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I noticed that when I pressed the power button to turn on the computer, there was a delay of about five seconds before the computer reacted..
That was weird, I thought, but nothing unbearable. Today when I started up my computer, not only was there a delay, but when it did start up I got the BSOD.
It was only there for a few seconds so I couldn't read much of what it said.............................................
I keep my laptop connected to external monitor and turned on 24/7 in the room where I sleep. But at night,
when the room is dark and I'm ready to sleep, I have the power button of the FW emitting this fairly bright green light and it bothers me
I know that in the power options you can change what pressing the power button does, but "lock" isn't an option. Before I upgraded to Windows7, I discovered how to set this but I can't figure out how to do it anymore.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy daughter was using her laptop (19 months old Inspiron 15R N5010) a couple days ago when all of a sudden, all but the bottom of her screen went black, the bottom was all garbled. Then a weird shrieking noise came out of the laptop and everything powered off (it was on battery). So she plugs in the ac power cord, thinking her battery was dead. Computer started to power on, fans & hard-drive spinning, but no screen at all, all black. After a couple minutes, the same weird shrieking sound and everything off again, but that time, a burnt smell came out of the fan exhaust.
Now, with our without ac power, the only thing that "works" on the laptop is the power button LED, everything else is silent. No fan, no hard-drive, no dvd player spinning. It's out of warranty, unfortunately, and hse needs it for class. I've fixed laptop before, actually on 2 occasions I replaced motherboards on other brand laptops without any issues... but while looking at the inside of the N5010, there are 2 boards inside, the mother board, and the power/ac/wan board...
My laptop, an Inspiron 15R, will not turn on. When I press power button, it beeps 3 times. Owner manuel says 3 beep codes mean possible system board failure - chipset error. As luck would have it my warranty went out in December. Does this mean the hard drive on my computer has crashed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my Lenovo Y40 on the Lenovo Web site a couple months ago and recently, to turn on, I have to press the power button twice. When I press just once, the Lenovo`s logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds everything turns off. On the second trying, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.
In addition, rarely the laptop stucks on the lenovo`s logo screen, being necessary to hold on the power to reset it.
