I have a Acer Aspire 5590 and where my mouse pad is the left button ( left click ) is broken like it moves and doesn't click properly. I was wondering if you guys know how I could fix this or get a new button?

Hey guys I have a Acer Aspire 5590. I installed empowering technology, then I installed enet, eperformance, and esettings for it, I tried installing epower management but it says I need net frame 1.1 but yet I installed 2.0 then 3.5 yesterday.. and it still doesn't work. I formatted the laptop yesterday, but when it was not formatted it had all the acer programs on it, such as the one where it controls the battery performance, so I could change the screen brightness, how fast the laptop goes and what the settings are when it's running on battery. What is that program called, could somebody send me a link so that I have all the acer programs that come with acer laptops? I have Windows XP
View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay so my first question is this: Right now my wireless light is on showing that it's wireless, but if I close my laptop, or if it goes to sleep, and then I go back onto my laptop the wireless stops working and the light is off and it won't go on when I move the switch. I have a Aspire 5590
My second question is: I've hooked up a second monitor to my laptop I checked the settings and it works like this, if I move my mouse to the right and keep going, my mouse appears on the second screen. How can I make it so that the start menu and everything goes from the first to the second screen that way I can close my laptop, cause if I close my laptop screen it disables the second screen also/
The right click button does not work on the mouse pad, as well as on a usb mouse. I have used Acer factory recover disks to restore it to out of the box condition. Same issue. If you use control panel to switch buttons then the only thing that happens is the cursor moves no click at all. Also after a period of time letting the computer warm up suddenly the cursor is working but even the left click will not function it will highlight the icon but not allow you to click it. I am wondering is the only solution to replace the motherboard since it appears to be a heat aggravated problem. And before I forget, yes I have replaced the drivers a couple of times clean install as well

(nothing to do with the battery). i sent the laptop to sony and they told me it would cost $900 to fix, so i said no way im going to pay that much. so i am now stuck with the TZ, is there an alternate way to put the laptop on?

I am pretty sure the HDD is stuffed. The notebook tries to start and gives me different error messages each time basically to contact the hardware manufacturer. The HDD also seems to make a click or clunk noice every so often as if it is having trouble reading.
Anyway main question. If I replace the HDD how do I get this notebook working again... no recovery CD's or anything?
I have an Aspire 7738G and I have a few questions.
My subwoofer seems to be broken, sometimes it sounds as it should but sometimes it sounds like a broken speaker. Have anyone else experienced this? Is there a easy fix or do I need to hand it in for repair?
When it was new 2 months ago I began with creating two partitions on the windows drive (it has 2 harddrives) because I don't like it when the windows partition is on 500 gb, then everything got screwed and nothing worked (I so hate the MS partitioning tool).
Because of this I lost the backup partition and the genuin OS. I have ordered the windows seven upgrade but I wonder, can I do a clean install without having a genuin os on the pc, with the upgrade kit?
Is there anyway I get a new backup partition?
I do have a serial on the back of the laptop for vista, is there anywhere I can get the oem dvd for vista for this laptop and install it with my serial?
Right now I have windows 7 RC and the volume touch slider does not work. I can't find any drivers for it on the acer driver site. IS it broken or what is wrong?
My touchpad broke days after I got the laptop, I go to Acers site for drivers and then when I download them I get told they have errors. I cant click or scroll with the buttins either, it is utterly useless and I am having to use a terrible USB ball mouse.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy husband dropped his Aspire 3680-2682 the other day and the screen went wonky. I booted it off a VGA monitor and it seems to be fine running from there, BUT I could not get it to boot to VGA except in safe mode, and when I choose to boot in regular mode it goes to the LCD screen and doesn't allow switching the display to the external monitor.
This is the only thing that concerns me that it might not be just the screen that sustained damage.
I was eventually able to get th bezel off (it doesn't come 100% off on this model but doesn't need to) and remove the lcd panel for inspection. The thin board taped to the back of the panel doesn't seem to be visibly broken or strained and the connectors to it were taped so firmly in place they didn't budge on impact. The small board that rests at the bottom of the top case under the bezel (the inverter?) can't be inspected well and I don't want to damage it by trying. In any case nothing appears damaged to the naked eye on or around the screen.
The first pic is how the screen looks when booted; it also (visibly) flickers and redraws continuously. The second shows that applying pressure allows a clearer view of the console and stops the flickering.

I have found a replacement screen online for 50.00 and feel comfortable enough trying to replace it rather than spend the cost of a new laptop on sending it for repairs.
However, if it's not just the screen I don't want to throw more money at this.
In your experienced opinions, does it look like the damage is typical of a broken LCD screen and not something in the motherboard? (no clue on how to get a closer look at that stuff. took every screw out of it last night and couldn't get the bottom case to reveal its secrets.)
it is a Acer Aspire 3680, the other day the clips that holds one stick of memory in broke, does anyone know how I could fix this, was thinking of gluing the clips back on or using electrical tape to hold memory in place,
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo t420s with dualboot win7 and Ubuntu. I never had any problems until now and could switch on/off my wireless and bluetooth connections via the Hardware Switch (right bottom left of the notebook) or via FN + F5.
However, without any specific reason the wireless and bluetooth was switched off and the the system tells me that I have to switch on WIFI via the Wireless Radio Switch. However, although I can move it, it doesn't make any difference for the Switch.
I tried to reset the BIOS to Default and changed the network settings, and also rebooted several times. I won't work with any of the two systems.
Aspire S3. The PC is perfectly fine, except the fact the the screen is broken. It already broke twice (just by opening...), so we are not spending money on a third one.So, what I want to do is to connect it to an external monitor through HDMI (and possibly remove the broken screen, since it has no use). I can do it in Windows, but not outside Windows (BIOS) and I'd like install Windows 8.1 or 10. So my question is: can I force output from boot into HDMI? If so how, if not, what alternatives do I have to install a new version of Windows without spending a small fortune?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Acer E5-571-5552 recently, it came with Windows 8.1 64bit. One of the ways I use my laptop often is in "docked mode", basically connect it to external monitor via HDMI, and external USB mouse & keyboard. I set the windows power options for "close lid" to do nothing, then it works fine like a desktop. This works fine with all other laptops I've used in the past (Lenovo, HP, Toshiba...etc). But this new Acer has trouble waking from sleep, the USB keyboard & mouse only light up, but doesn't wake up the fan/drive/monitor. I have to open the lid and press a key on the laptop (USB keyboard/mouse still doesn't).
I've opened case 3601882U and chatted with 2 agents, one had me update to latest BIOS 1.11 which didn't resolve it. The other tried to insist it was a limited feature, that the Acers had to have lid open to wake up the computer from sleep. I think this is a broken feature. Is this true for all Acers, or just this windows 8.1 model?
I have an Acer Aspire 5740G running Win 7. I am really rather pleased with after my HP Pavilion.
I do have one gripe (OK, more than one, but this is the one that niggles most often).
Is there a way to assign Mute to the P button?
Yes, I know I can click on the speaker icon in the tray or press Fn+F8, but there really needs to be a one-button solution for when the phone rings or someone walks in unexpectedly.
The mouse part of it works perfectly, as does the right clicker - but the left one is completely useless, which isn't good as that's the most important one.
I noticed this a few weeks ago that it was no longer as 'secure' as the right one, i.e. is seemed to be giving way on one side of the left clicker, and was moving about a bit in it's place. Now it's gotten progressively worse and no longer is able to click even, so it doesn't work and I have had to plug in an optical mouse to the usb port.
I lifted the little mouse clicker slot up with a knife to see what is wrong but all that seems to be the problem is that it is incredibly loose and no longer sits straight in its positioning. Underneath both clickers there is a small button attached to the mainboard and obviously the clicker needs to touch this to perform its' actions. But the left one doesn't seem to be reaching..
So basically I want to know is it likely that Acer would repair this for me? The laptop is still under warranty.
I guess the only long-term solution is an entire new mousepad, which would be expensive.
And that'd suck because 3/4 of it works perfectly and it's just this one button.
My acer loaded in xp as normal but my keypad and mousepad were unresponsive so i did a clean install with xp(not acer recovery) that ran through to when you do user input and froze again now i have a new hd and the same thing is happening except when i load into safe mode then everything is fine,

Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.

I can adjust the volume of the notebook, but I can't however adjust the brightness of the screen. There is no brightness setting in my notebook whatsoever! Am I missing the brightness driver? what is the name of the brightness driver? Or is it something else. Taking into account that I have decrease/increase brightness symbols on the left/right buttons respectively.

I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely) it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.

1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
