I have an Aspire V5-572P-6454. Occasionally I accidentally hit the power button on the side of the computer and it makes my screen go black. I can't figure out how to get me screen back, thought it was a lighting issue and tried Fn and the left and right arrows, but that doesn't work. Usually end up rebooting and losing what I've been working on.

I have an ACER Aspire 5542g and i've had a problem with it lately, when I turn it on, the fan starts running, the harddrive turns on, and the CD drive starts up, the power button LED is on, but all that shows up is a black screen. I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely) it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedPurchased in 2009 with free upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro. Has been a great computer up to now. On power up, LED's and fan come on but screen is black. Can not see anything behind screen when shining a torch on it. Has worked twice since fault appeared, once on re-boot and once when pressing DEL key. Replaced battery on motherboard and tried combinations of the two RAM boards. Still not working. Have recovery disks, but they are for the old Vista software.

I put it to a shop and they told me it was a motherboard/cpu problem and they couldn't source parts. I managed to get the parts. I put the motherboard first, but didn't work. I then added the cpu and put on thermal paste, but still didn't work.
My laptop will power on but I'm still getting a blinking light on the caps lock button and a black screen.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire v3-571gOn trying to boot up my laptop by pushing the power button, the leds light up and the fan starts ( I can hear it spin) and the laptop starts but the screen remains black and does not even light up. The screen remains pitch black without any change at all.After force-shutdown 12 to 13 times, I rebooted my laptop and the screen suddenly started working.This happened once before as well and I didn't think much of it untill it happened again. I don't understand why the screen randomly chose to black out and not respond until after several restarts.
I tried removing the battery, pressing power button for about 30 seconds, rebooting, starting without battery (with power source) and nothing worked. It randomly and unexpectedly started working (just like it had stopped).
When I try to open a laptop. It start producing beep sounds, like four times then an interval than again four beep sound.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5552G with win7, I tried all things that was online e.g. New battery, Flashing bios, Fn + esc without battery when trying to start the computer and so on.
It started now and then and worked perfect but when I shut it down again it could take me up to 50 tries to get it started.
The problem was issues with the boot sector on the hard drive!
Finally I made an Win7 repair disc and started from.
I also checked for errors on the hard drive and it repaired some sectors before starting windows.
After that it works like when it was new. The computer was bought January 2011.

is your power button on the top right sort of recessed into the body and harder to push without using a fingernail (i have larger hands)?

Went to get on it this morning and the power button won't respond. When it is plugged in, the LED light shows that it's charging, but when I try to turn it on, the power button doesn't respond. Every few presses, the power button lights up for a split second, then turns off. The screen never responds to the power button being on for a split second.

When i press the power button on, the display remains black though the fan and dvd writer works . this is followed by 7 beeps . The First beep is loud and remaining 6 are short beeps. 1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
- Both video cards are installed

When I pull the power cord to switch to battery power while in Windows my lcd goes to black. The only way I get my video back is a hard reset and reboot. Later on I tried this and everything was back to normal. Why is this happening? Is this some weird standby?

Basically the Fn Button, Left, Right, Up, Down buttons are all working fine. I can adjust the volume of the notebook, but I can't however adjust the brightness of the screen. There is no brightness setting in my notebook whatsoever! Am I missing the brightness driver? what is the name of the brightness driver? Or is it something else. Taking into account that I have decrease/increase brightness symbols on the left/right buttons respectively.

The only way of solving this problem is to take out the power lead and the battery and start it up again. I dont want to have to do this everytime i start up my laptop.
This first happened after my laptop crashed (Frozen screen bussing through speakers) there was a lot running at the time, virus updates, windows updates etc.
just got my replacment 1810tz. last book had some trouble with the keyboard. now the brand new just wont boot up. has some fan blowing and once harddisc access and then nothing. i already tried Fn + F5/F6 keys, no result. also attached via hdmi to monitor - but not any flickering. even let it lay there for some hours wiithout batterypack attached. no result.
how to remove the bios battery, maybe this could solve it...?
I've been experiencing a few issues recently with my Acer Aspire V5 so I did a return to factory settings (Full wipe).
I've come home today and the screen keeps on going black even though the computer isn't asleep. I move the mouse, and I see the desktop again, but then after less than a second, it goes black again.
