View 2 RepliesI have an Acer 7535-5020 that will not boot up. A few times prior to this happening it said that Windows was not shut down properly - this was right after a batch of Windows updates was installed. Now, it will not start at all. I have tried pressing every F button in hopes of it catching the Bios - we had noticed a few times that it was not set to start from the hard drive and changed it but for some reason it was not holding the changes, we think.I have googled and found that many Acer's (different models) seem to run into this problem and for many, it seems that something called flashing the Bios takes care of the issue. I would like to know which Aspire 7535 model BIOS I need to use as well. I think there are 2 different models listed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5552G with win7, I tried all things that was online e.g. New battery, Flashing bios, Fn + esc without battery when trying to start the computer and so on.
Â
It started now and then and worked perfect but when I shut it down again it could take me up to 50 tries to get it started.
Â
The problem was issues with the boot sector on the hard drive!
Â
Finally I made an Win7 repair disc and started from.
Â
I also checked for errors on the hard drive and it repaired some sectors before starting windows.
Â
After that it works like when it was new. The computer was bought January 2011.
I have a little problem with my Acer E1-570.Yesterday I turned it completely off for the first time (I have been using sleep mode before), and when I tried to turn it on again, nothing happens.Power led is on, and HDD led flashes once, but after that it does nothing.I can hear fan spinning for few seconds but after that it's complete silence inside the computer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPurchased in 2009 with free upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro. Has been a great computer up to now. On power up, LED's and fan come on but screen is black. Can not see anything behind screen when shining a torch on it. Has worked twice since fault appeared, once on re-boot and once when pressing DEL key. Replaced battery on motherboard and tried combinations of the two RAM boards. Still not working. Have recovery disks, but they are for the old Vista software.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an ACER Aspire 5542g and i've had a problem with it lately, when I turn it on, the fan starts running, the harddrive turns on, and the CD drive starts up, the power button LED is on, but all that shows up is a black screen. I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely)Â it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen powering up I get the Acer screen for about 10 sec and then black screen. Immediately before this there was a Windows update for the graphics card, if I remember correctly. I have tried hard power down 3 times but on the 4th time I do not get the message "preparing for automatic repair". I am unable to get into Safe Mode.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've now spent many hours of research and troubleshooting to try to fix this issue, both via external sites through google search and here on Acer site.
Â
It is the same issue reported many times: Acer 5552g laptop powers on, but does not boot up -I get blank / black screen, fan sound briefly, then idle, and that's the end of. Also, when I do manage to get it going (booting), it seems a totally random event...
I have an Aspire V5-572P-6454. Â Occasionally I accidentally hit the power button on the side of the computer and it makes my screen go black. Â I can't figure out how to get me screen back, thought it was a lighting issue and tried Fn and the left and right arrows, but that doesn't work. Â Usually end up rebooting and losing what I've been working on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire v3-571gOn trying to boot up my laptop by pushing the power button, the leds light up and the fan starts ( I can hear it spin) and the laptop starts but the screen remains black and does not even light up. The screen remains pitch black without any change at all. After force-shutdown 12 to 13 times, I rebooted my laptop and the screen suddenly started working. This happened once before as well and I didn't think much of it untill it happened again. I don't understand why the screen randomly chose to black out and not respond until after several restarts.
Â
I tried removing the battery, pressing power button for about 30 seconds, rebooting, starting without battery (with power source) and nothing worked. It randomly and unexpectedly started working (just like it had stopped).
Laptop still under warranty. I recently had a motherboard and HDD replacement. I wanted to install Windows myself, but the BIOS was set to UEFI, and I couldn't seem to boot off of a USB drive. So I switched it to Legacy, booted from the pendrive, and installed Windows just fine.
Â
For whatever reason, I went back to try and change the setting to UEFI. Now the laptop switches on, but refuses to boot. I get a black screen, with no logo or any prompt whatsoever to access the BIOS.Â
I read a bit and seems I need to remove the BIOS battery, let the memory clear itself to reset BIOS settings to default, and try again? If it matters, I re-installed Windows 7 64-bit.
My Acer Aspire One 10.1 notebook wont boot. All I get is a black screen with microsoft corporation written under neith a rectangle, where a green bar sliding from left to right should appear, but doesn't. What do I need to do?
Â
I have reinstalled win7 on my c drive using another computer. The hard drive booted on that computer. Which leads me to believe some thing is missing.

When I pull the power cord to switch to battery power while in Windows my lcd goes to black. The only way I get my video back is a hard reset and reboot. Later on I tried this and everything was back to normal. Why is this happening? Is this some weird standby?

if there was a place I could get the motherboard for ACER Acpire 5024. The board is made by BOLSENA?

Having an issue with my HPÂ G62 laptop. The computer will power on, but the screen does not turn on, but the power on button light is blinking. The indicator light next to the charging port is red, as is the light next to the wireless button.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 week old Inspiron 7535 and I am having issue with the monitor. I have the latest BIOS (7535A10) and latest Intel HD 4400 drivers installed.
Firstly, I had the "flickering and automatic dimming/brightening of screen" issue that is widely spoken about with this laptop.
I resolved that issue by doing the following:
Open Intel HD Graphics Control Panel
Select Power
Clicked downward arrow in top left of window and select On Battery
Disabled Panel-Refresh
Disabled Extended Battery Life for Gaming
Disabled Power Saving Technology
Apply
Okay, that was that fixed...
However, I am seeing another issue that I am beginning to believe is the display hardware itself.
There are horizontal waves/ripples moving downwards (on 60hz) that are only visible on darker backgrounds when the brightness is not set to maximum or minimum.
I have tried the following to no avail:
Ran Dell's diagnostic software, all passed
Held "D" when booting, solid colors looked fine because it displays them on full brightness (This issue only occurs between minimum and maximum brightness).
Uninstalled Intel HD Graphics 4400 software and re-installed with latest version. Still present.
Version: 10.18.10.2960
Checked if the ripples/waves were still present when in BIOS. They are.
Re-installed BIOS from DELL's downloaded driver. Still present.
Changed from 60hz to 40hz. Still present (Although horizontal waves/ripples seemed to move upwards instead).
I am running out of options here. I have heard that this could be caused by a loose connection of the monitor to the motherboard, however, if I open up the laptop to check this conncetion, will that void the warrenty?
For initial flickering issues I resolved above (Definite software issue), try opening paint and filling the screen with the dark-grey color, that is the best way to see these horizontal ripples/waves. (They are a little more visible on 60Hz)?
Bought a HP 255 G2 (windows 8.1) to be used with Linux Mint.I know that I have to enable Legacy mode in the BIOS and disable the secure boot. I forgot the last part (disable the secure boot). Now I cannot do anything with the laptop, it is not responding to ESC or F10 to get into the BIOS to correct my mistake.I also have created an USB stick with the BIOS flash, but it won't boot from the USB stick to reflash the BIOS.Have it picked up by HP for repair?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe screen on my wife's presario notebook suddenly went black on sunday. She was surfing on the net when that happened. The screen wasn't completely black, it was kinda gray-ish like the LCD light was still on. The power LED was also still on. She turned the notebook off and back on and the screen stayed pitch black. The power LED comes on, the fan is running and also the DVD drive starts running but neither do I see a picture nor does the HDD LED flicker.
I tried different things like unhooking the power, uninstalling the battery but nothing helped. However after a couple of restarts I was able to make it show the 'Compaq' logo twice. Each time the HDD LED flickered a couple of times and then the screen was gray again.
On the Compaq website they suggest to re-set the RAM module(s). Does that sound like a possible solution to anybody? My wife is going to check if the notebook is still under warranty (She bought it in August last year) before I try to mess with the RAM.
I have a Inspiron 5720, when I power on all I get is a black screen with a repeating 7 beeps... What the problem is?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up my laptop the Windows splash screen loads but with vertical lines then the screen shows random fuzzy lines and colours and then the screen goes completely black and nothing happens.
At first I restarted and ran in Safe Mode and ran CCleaner which after restarting worked for a short period but then would suddenly go to a black screen and one occasion went to a blue screen with the following message
*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted *** .....
My R51 was working perfectly and has been maintained over the 8 years it has been with me. I wanted to upgrade my RAM and downloaded the BIOS update and chipset drivers updates.
After powering down I pulled the old 256MB RAM sets from under the keyboard and bottom of machine. I then inserted the single 2GB RAM into the slot under the keyboard and reassembled it.
Black screen/ no boot
Took out the 2GB replaced the 256MB sets and it worked fine for a few hours as I searched out reasons why the 2GB would not work. 'Suddenly the screen goes black and the system shut down.
It will power up (battery light/ status light green) but screen is black and it will not boot. Fan is running and battery charges. I tried hitting F12 and F8 but nothing.

I have a recall plug LS 15-(need Rreplacement) could this be the problem?
Is their damage to the motherboad ?
I recently ordered an Aspire 7535-5020 with an Athlon 64 X2 cpu in it and when looking for more information about it I stumbled upon another forum where some people were talking about Windows 7 reporting that the cpu was actually a Turion. Anyone know anything about this?
Even looking at Acer's website it says this model has an Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core in it. Would this be a Windows bug reporting the wrong thing, or the actual hardware is built using different components than what is marketed and sold?
I would like to hear others thoughts before I actually open the box when it gets here.

i'm having a issue with my santa rosa mbp. I left for dinner and left my notebook on. Naturally the machine went to sleep. After i came back the machine would not boot up, the screen doesn't even turn on. The light on the latch release remains on. When i try a hard reboot, i'm having the same issue. Black screen, doesn't even get to the grey screen with the apple logo. I've tried going on 1 dimm or ram to see if it's a issue with the ram and still doesn't fix it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an acer aspire 7535 - 5415. Specifications can be found here:
It came preinstalled with Windows 7 but I formatted it and installed Windows XP for which drivers are available on acer's website.
Now I am having problems finding drivers for the wireless device and ethernet on it. I have tried the various drivers available online including acer's website but none of them seem to work so I think I am doing something wrong. I just run the installer for the drivers but that doesnt make any difference. Currently in device manager, two devices show up with a question mark along them:
1. Ethernet Controller
2. Network Controller
Installing different drivers makes no difference, including the ones posted on acer's website. So I dont know if I am doing something wrong or if the drivers are faulty. Can someone point me to the proper drivers or the proper procedure for installing the network controllers I need.
When i press the power button laptop seems to be powering up and running but the screen is black. The LEDs for power and disk are on and i can enable the keyboard back light. If i try to turn the laptop on again and again then after some time it boots up ok and then works without any problems, at least until i turn it off. I tried to connect an external monitor but it didn't get any signal.
I'm not sure if it is connected but i think it starded after i did the system recovery. I use Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.
