My Acer Aspire One 10.1 notebook wont boot. All I get is a black screen with microsoft corporation written under neith a rectangle, where a green bar sliding from left to right should appear, but doesn't. What do I need to do?
I have reinstalled win7 on my c drive using another computer. The hard drive booted on that computer. Which leads me to believe some thing is missing.
I have an Aspire 5515 with the black screen of Death. It is running Windows Vista. When you boot up lights come on, fan and HD are on but no screen. I was told to re-flash bios to fix it, so I downloaded Bios from the support site.

Immediately before this there was a Windows update for the graphics card, if I remember correctly. I have tried hard power down 3 times but on the 4th time I do not get the message "preparing for automatic repair". I am unable to get into Safe Mode.

A few times prior to this happening it said that Windows was not shut down properly - this was right after a batch of Windows updates was installed.Now, it will not start at all. I have tried pressing every F button in hopes of it catching the Bios - we had noticed a few times that it was not set to start from the hard drive and changed it but for some reason it was not holding the changes, we think.I have googled and found that many Acer's (different models) seem to run into this problem and for many, it seems that something called flashing the Bios takes care of the issue. I would like to know which Aspire 7535 model BIOS I need to use as well. I think there are 2 different models listed.

It is the same issue reported many times: Acer 5552g laptop powers on, but does not boot up -I get blank / black screen, fan sound briefly, then idle, and that's the end of. Also, when I do manage to get it going (booting), it seems a totally random event...
I have an Acer Aspire 5634WLMi with 2 years. Got a problem on the monitor (15.4-inch LCD CrystalBite).
It slowly started a year ago (at that time still had warranty but underestimated the problem and now it expired). In all the black images(movies, photos) began to appear some green fluorescent dots that looks like they are living (in English I think is called flickering spots, jaggies?!) which then disappear and come back. I did not care at first because both appeared to disappear. Over time there have appeared more, followed by purple dots now. These purple dots are never in black image but sometimes they are the shadow of the black image. But in videos with very dark black only come green dots (always flickering). In all the other colors there is no problem, for example I am writing this in Word and the blue and white of this image is not green. It is however in my opinion a little blurry, I do not know. The letters are black (with a slight green Halo) but it seems that they aren�t standing still and shake a little. The most strange is that on the desktop there is a pattern of green dots on the bottom left and a purple on the upper corner that are often there but sometimes also move around. In fact there was not so long ago a time when I got a perfect image. I began to think that the laptop went to very warm, open a part, cleaned the fan and reduce the processor speed by changing the temperature of the device. After a while it disappeared. But this improvement lasted only 1 day. Then it began all over again. I have also tried to connect the computer to another monitor and had a perfect image, so it seems that it is not the graphics. On the Internet I found many of these reports that the cable that goes from the graphicscard to the monitor is damaged and that a simple substitution leads to full restoration of the notebook. Anyway before attempting to open the laptop (I've been watching some videos of how to do) like to have another opinion from someone who realizes this. I already took him ah repair but wanted 250 euro to replace the monitor with dead pixels (which I think is wrong they are not all dead, and until very squiggly and alternate location). For 250euros rather buy a new though economically not good for me. When the computer has a completely black image is all green. For example when the screensaver comes with the ball moving from one place to another.
I had exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5552G with win7, I tried all things that was online e.g. New battery, Flashing bios, Fn + esc without battery when trying to start the computer and so on.
It started now and then and worked perfect but when I shut it down again it could take me up to 50 tries to get it started.
The problem was issues with the boot sector on the hard drive!
Finally I made an Win7 repair disc and started from.
I also checked for errors on the hard drive and it repaired some sectors before starting windows.
After that it works like when it was new. The computer was bought January 2011.
I have a acer aspire m5-581t only displays a green screen ....

I also tried playing a youtube video which showed up as a green screen. Ive looked around and it says i need to update my graphics driver. I already looked on the acer website for a graphics driver download and i cannot find one.

Everything has been working fine until yesterday whe I booted up, the screen rotated a solid green/blue/red for a few seconds then went black (backlight still on) and there it stayed, have re-booted a few times and each go, it goes straight to the black screen, I have plugged it into my TV via the HDMI which works fine can see everything and use as normal.

It displayed a message that it was processing or I forget what it said exactly. Then the words went away after about an hour. I remember reading that it said it may do this, may have a blank screen and not to turn it off. I left it on all night and still have just a green screen this morning. I know my wifi is not the fastest and figured that's what it was. Came to work today and left it sitting on the counter, still on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook. It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while. What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen. The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable.
I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening. However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes.
To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input). However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset). This generally resolves the issue for a while.
I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occasion.
should be receiving new key board soon.

The only way of solving this problem is to take out the power lead and the battery and start it up again. I dont want to have to do this everytime i start up my laptop.
This first happened after my laptop crashed (Frozen screen bussing through speakers) there was a lot running at the time, virus updates, windows updates etc.
just got my replacment 1810tz. last book had some trouble with the keyboard. now the brand new just wont boot up. has some fan blowing and once harddisc access and then nothing. i already tried Fn + F5/F6 keys, no result. also attached via hdmi to monitor - but not any flickering. even let it lay there for some hours wiithout batterypack attached. no result.

My aspire s3 screen suddenly goes black. When I connect it to HDMI I can see the display on the HDMI device. When I disconnect HDMI the screen display comes back but again goes black after some time. It is a hardware problem or some settings to be done. This display problem happens when I restart or power on the note book.

I have had my Hp dv7 notebook for a few months now and have had no problems. But all of a sudden, I turn on the computer and see nothng but a blank, black screen. I do not know if I changed the display settings or what, but I cannot see anything. I know the computer is functioning because the fan turns on and the keyboard lights work. When I connected my laptop to an external monitor, I was able to see that my computer was on and fully functional. In fact, I am using it right now on an external monitor to type this message.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled (with no installation nor recovery disks delivered).
I accidently hit the arcade button on the cinedash panel, instead of the power button. The computer started directly up into arcade deluxe, after a short install. Nice feature
I thought, and choose to exit arcade through the exit feature. Then I noticed that the computer prepared to hibernate, but instead it shut off after it finished.
After turning the computer on, a small complaint about improper closing the computer popped up, and I choose to start windows normally. Now the boot loader ran, and when I expected the logon screen, instead I met a black screen with a working mouse cursor. I eventually had to force power down, since crtl alt delete didn't work.
Since then, all boot options, safe mode etc leads to the same black screen.
Vista looks like it's going to boot normally then goes to a black screen with a working mouse pointer. The hard disk light just pulses every couple seconds.
I tried extracting the battery but it doesn't work.
I tried to alt+f10 - Vista Recovery page, so it gives me menu called "Edit Boot Options". There is the path to winload.exe and this:
"Partition: 2
Hard Disk: b8f0ffa4
[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN
]"
That's all what I have when I press ALT + F10.
I could type "Enter" = nothing happened
"Esc" = shutdown the system
"F8" = go to recovery page.
Hit f8:
Goes to a "Vista system recovery" or something like that, i'm not quite sure what its name was. Anyway it had about 6 options, including "Get windows to check for and correct the faults on your disk" in a little bit more high tech talk. And "Restore to a earlier point". Since the "Checking and correct faults" said it was recommended, i thought i'd go for that.
It ran its tool, told me to click the restart button. Runs it again, tells me to restart again.
And now it enters its final state - Its virtually dead :|. If i turn it on, it will go to the black screen, that talks about an improper shutdown, with the options for Safe Mode, Safe mode with networking.. etc. Any of these 4 options all result in the same black screen displaying only the mouse cursor.
I was not trying to install or upgrade nothing, was not trying to change form vista to xp or so.
I have not deleted any hidden partition (as far as I know...)
I have a Acer Aspire 6920 with Vista and my screen goes black after i log in I can get to Task manager to open programs and internet sites.

Purchased in 2009 with free upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro. Has been a great computer up to now. On power up, LED's and fan come on but screen is black. Can not see anything behind screen when shining a torch on it. Has worked twice since fault appeared, once on re-boot and once when pressing DEL key. Replaced battery on motherboard and tried combinations of the two RAM boards. Still not working. Have recovery disks, but they are for the old Vista software.
