View 1 RepliesI just bought an Acer Aspire D255E with a cracked display. I tested it and it worked fine. Replaced the display with a brand new one, and the result is that it comes on, displays the opening screen, briefly flashes what looks like the screen you get when you shut down abnormally, then powers down. It will also power down in about the same time if I F2 into the BIOS.

I have reinstalled win7 on my c drive using another computer. The hard drive booted on that computer. Which leads me to believe some thing is missing.
Got a new E5-571P-55TL yesterday and going through the setup process I got all the way to where it says downloading apps. It displayed a message that it was processing or I forget what it said exactly. Then the words went away after about an hour. I remember reading that it said it may do this, may have a blank screen and not to turn it off. I left it on all night and still have just a green screen this morning. I know my wifi is not the fastest and figured that's what it was. Came to work today and left it sitting on the counter, still on.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been working on this issue on my own for about a week now. I'm not entirely sure how to start explaining, so I'll just do a rundown of the noticable issues.
Hovering over the speaker icon gives me the text, "No speakers or headphones are plugged in." I use the internal speakers, and I always have my headphones plugged in. Audio playback troubleshooting doesnt give me anything (though at one point during my progress, it said that my audio device was disabled.)
Device management has been confusing at best. I can't seem to get the Realtek W8.1 drivers to properly download, even after finding the Acer-support driver.
I have an Aspire M5-581T. In March of 2014, the battery suddenly stopped working. It would not charge, the unit would not boot from the battery, and if I unplugged the computer from the AC outlet it shut down completely.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an acer M3 581T which I bought about a year ago. Now, windows crashed and said there was a file missing. I am no longer able to boot up the system, I've tried the erecovery (alt f10) but it just proceeds and says it's not able to boot. I have no recovery cd/usb at hand. It is of my understanding that this ultrabook has two harddrives. One SSD on which the operating system is installed and one HDD with the other files on.What do I do to make it work again? I do not care if all my files are lost.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue extending my display via an external monitor (Samsung 23inch). I’m using a 5750G with GT 540M and Intel HD 3000 that uses Nvidia Optimus technology. It's the i7 2360QM version. So it's a second gen HD 3000 I believe.
I can't seem to run 2 displays at once.. like if I connect an external monitor via the VGA or the HDMI.. I can use that monitor on it's own (while the laptop screen is disabled) just fine.. but the moment I try to duplicate displays or extend my desktop across two monitors.. the intel driver crashes...
The Intel driver keeps crashing and recovering every 2 seconds until the whole PC blue screens. (VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE - igdkmd64.sys) This is when windows is trying to run both monitors at once. If I quickly press Win+P and set it to a single display, it’s fine.
I can output to the external monitor (show desktop only on 2), via both VGA and HDMI and the laptop screen is off. This works fine, even at 1080p.
I can also output to the laptop screen only (show desktop only on 1), and the external monitor is off.
If I choose "duplicate", only the laptop screen works... But it drops down to a low res (1024x768)... However, in the Multiple Displays setting dropdown... “Duplicate” is no longer selected... and it’s now set to “Show desktop only on 1”. If I try change to duplicate again… both monitors go blank.
If I try to extend these displays, the laptop screen stays on... the external monitor goes blank, and the laptop screen immediately starts to flick off and on... as the driver crashes and restarts. I see the little dialog box in the notification area saying “The display driver has stopped responding and has recovered.” While specifying the Intel driver.
So here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Windows 8.1 fully updated, with the latest Intel Drivers and NVidia Drivers.
Windows 7 x64 SP1 with latest Intel and NVidia drivers... as well as the old drivers that are listed on the Acer site. Each time I completely uninstalled and deleted the old drivers before installing new ones.
I’ve tried these Intel drivers:
8.15.10.2342 (Acer site)
8.15.10.2622 - 15.22.54.64.2622
9.17.10.3347 - 15.28.20.64.3347
9.17.10.3517 - 15.28.22.64.3517 (latest)
I updated the BIOS (1.21). I also went into the BIOS and changed the GPU setting from ‘Switchable” to “Integrated” which basically disabled the GT 540m, so windows doesn't even load the nvidia control panel etc.. Even with just the Intel graphics enabled... same issue.
I’ve tried adjusting power management settings to ensure that power is always at max.
I know it’s not an issue with the external monitor or cables, as they all work fine when the laptop screen is not running... Also, I tested with a Samsung LCD TV with the same issue. The monitor and cables work fine with my PC and other Laptop.
So for some reason, the Intel driver does not want to let 2 screens display at once. And the way the Optimus technology works, I don’t think I can bypass the Intel GPU and use the NVidia one alone.
I tested Win 8.1 with all latest drivers.. and win 7 with a few combinations.. like both the older intel driver + old nvida driver (the ones listed on the Acer site for this laptop).. then I tried new nvidia + a few old intel drivers one at a time.. but the issue remains..
Acer Aspire One won't start. Push switch get green led for three seconds then nothing ....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5634WLMi with 2 years. Got a problem on the monitor (15.4-inch LCD CrystalBite).
It slowly started a year ago (at that time still had warranty but underestimated the problem and now it expired). In all the black images(movies, photos) began to appear some green fluorescent dots that looks like they are living (in English I think is called flickering spots, jaggies?!) which then disappear and come back. I did not care at first because both appeared to disappear. Over time there have appeared more, followed by purple dots now. These purple dots are never in black image but sometimes they are the shadow of the black image. But in videos with very dark black only come green dots (always flickering). In all the other colors there is no problem, for example I am writing this in Word and the blue and white of this image is not green. It is however in my opinion a little blurry, I do not know. The letters are black (with a slight green Halo) but it seems that they arent standing still and shake a little. The most strange is that on the desktop there is a pattern of green dots on the bottom left and a purple on the upper corner that are often there but sometimes also move around. In fact there was not so long ago a time when I got a perfect image. I began to think that the laptop went to very warm, open a part, cleaned the fan and reduce the processor speed by changing the temperature of the device. After a while it disappeared. But this improvement lasted only 1 day. Then it began all over again. I have also tried to connect the computer to another monitor and had a perfect image, so it seems that it is not the graphics. On the Internet I found many of these reports that the cable that goes from the graphicscard to the monitor is damaged and that a simple substitution leads to full restoration of the notebook. Anyway before attempting to open the laptop (I've been watching some videos of how to do) like to have another opinion from someone who realizes this. I already took him ah repair but wanted 250 euro to replace the monitor with dead pixels (which I think is wrong they are not all dead, and until very squiggly and alternate location). For 250euros rather buy a new though economically not good for me. When the computer has a completely black image is all green. For example when the screensaver comes with the ball moving from one place to another.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 7740-6656 that shows no signs of life. I have tried removing and replacing the battery as well as trying different locations to plug into power. I have even tried removing battery and power supply and holding start buttom 30 seconds. Except for a green light on the power supply cord, still no signs of life. What if any are my options?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had the M5-581T for 1yr and has worked fine. Now I have followed the directions for the suggested 8.1 upgrade.
Now I've been noticing intermittant events where I close the lip and the system goes to sleep. But when I choose to open the lid and wake back up the system actually turns on from a fresh boot thus losing anything I had open when the lid was closed to sleep. This seems to happen most when the unit is not plugged in but not all the time.
Also the unit will sometimes wake back up but not have any WIFI access and state that the WIFI is turned off w/o the option to turn it back on. This is only fixed by closing all and restarting.
What BIOS/Drivers need to be installed to fix this or is there a Battery issue?
I have a XPS M1530 that has seen very little use but unfortunately won't boot now. It is stuck on the bios screen that displays the dell logo - the progress bar on this page only displays about 15% complete and will not progress any further under any circumstances. I have performed the diagnostic boot option of holding down the <FN> key before power on and this displays just the caps lock flashing rapidly - the flashing does not halt. The other diagnostic lights (scroll and num lock) remain unlit except at the initial boot they flash once as per normal.
As dell has not published the diagnostic codes. The laptop is "as new" if a few years old now and I would like to keep it for sometime to come - the purchase price at the time was ~£1300. One reason I bought dell was for the after sales care - I understand there have been various issues with this particular series of laptop which is unfortunate but I am hopeful to get it working again at reasonable cost.
I recently installed windows 8.1 on my dell xps 15z everything works alright but the screen at times displays vertical lights. It gives the image of the screen malfunctioning and then it disappears.

So maybe after a day or two there has been a green screen appearing instead of video. I used to be able to restart the computer and it'd be fine for a while, then it became more freqent. Now no matter whether I restart my computer or I'm just starting it up the screen will be green whether it be youtube or skype. This is also happening with my sister's computer and it is the same type. My roomate, who does not have the touch version does not have any problems with her laptop.
