I have an Aspire M5-581T and all USB devices that I plug into any USB ports comes up with the mesage that "The USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi Speed 2.0 port". When I check Device Manager it is showing a whole list of USB Device Drivers (See Below). Do I just delete all but the USB 3.0 Device Drivers??
I own an Acer Aspire M5-581T.Everything with it works fine except this one problem. While I am using it on battery (i.e. not charging), it shuts off unexpectedly. If the charger is connected, it runs just fine. No unexpected shut offs.
I own an Acer Aspire M5-581T.Everything with it works fine except this one problem. While I am using it on battery (i.e. not charging), it shuts off unexpectedly. If the charger is connected, it runs just fine. No unexpected shut offs. Is it battery related issue? should replacing the batter fix it?
I've been working on this issue on my own for about a week now. I'm not entirely sure how to start explaining, so I'll just do a rundown of the noticable issues.
Hovering over the speaker icon gives me the text, "No speakers or headphones are plugged in." I use the internal speakers, and I always have my headphones plugged in. Audio playback troubleshooting doesnt give me anything (though at one point during my progress, it said that my audio device was disabled.)
Device management has been confusing at best. I can't seem to get the Realtek W8.1 drivers to properly download, even after finding the Acer-support driver.
I have an Aspire M5-581T. In March of 2014, the battery suddenly stopped working. It would not charge, the unit would not boot from the battery, and if I unplugged the computer from the AC outlet it shut down completely.
I have an acer M3 581T which I bought about a year ago. Now, windows crashed and said there was a file missing. I am no longer able to boot up the system, I've tried the erecovery (alt f10) but it just proceeds and says it's not able to boot. I have no recovery cd/usb at hand. It is of my understanding that this ultrabook has two harddrives. One SSD on which the operating system is installed and one HDD with the other files on.What do I do to make it work again? I do not care if all my files are lost.
I've had the M5-581T for 1yr and has worked fine. Now I have followed the directions for the suggested 8.1 upgrade.
Now I've been noticing intermittant events where I close the lip and the system goes to sleep. But when I choose to open the lid and wake back up the system actually turns on from a fresh boot thus losing anything I had open when the lid was closed to sleep. This seems to happen most when the unit is not plugged in but not all the time.
Also the unit will sometimes wake back up but not have any WIFI access and state that the WIFI is turned off w/o the option to turn it back on. This is only fixed by closing all and restarting.
What BIOS/Drivers need to be installed to fix this or is there a Battery issue?
I'm planning on getting either both of these computers, Aspire AS5538-1096 or Aspire Timeline 5810-4784. Everything else is understandable except the part of the processor.
The Aspire as5538 comes with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core Processor L310 1.2GHz, 1 MB L2 cache. While the Aspire Timeline comes with an Intel Pentium Processor DU4199 1.3GHz, 2MB L2 cache. I mean, are intel making pentiums with dual core? Can it beat the Athlon 64 x2 1.2 dual core? Even if it costs more with the Aspire Timeline?
Here are links I found with some detailed information about these two products:
Aspire A5538-1096 [url]
Aspire Timeline 5810-4784 [url]
My main concern is, dual core, portability, and solid design. In better words, which is the best one?
Seeing as I pretty much made up my mind and want to buy a Acer Aspire 8930G, I hope somebody here can give me some specific advice. Maybe someone who owns one of the laptops (I hope there aren't any differences, depending on the country you live in)
I am looking at the Acer Aspire 8930G-644G32MN or the ACER Aspire 8930G-584G32BN. The first one is 300 Euro's cheaper than the last one. Besides that big difference I can't seem to find any. Did I miss some specific diffence, like do they both have Surround Sound and a BluRay drive and a full HD screen? Does any of the two support DVB-T? Do they both have a 9600 GT graphics card?
The reason why I ask is because I looked through, I don't know how many internetsites with specs and it's amazing how they all differ, obviously mainly copied and pasted from other internetsites. And I really want to get the right one and not regret my purchase after a while.
I got a problem with my Acer Aspire 5315. The HDD is shown in the bios but won't show in Vista most of the time. The HDD is completely formated, including the Acer partition. So recovery is not an option.
The problem is strange because it is not consistent. Sometimes I am able to acces the drive and install Vista. But then the next day, when i try to boot again, i only see a cursor after the Acer boot screen.
I've tried running in IDE mode. I also tried replacing the HDD with a new one. I installed vista with the correct Intel driver.
I also tried running Linux live cd. It also sees the HDD drive correctly but when i try to acces it, the program freeses.
I'm affraid something is wrong with the I/O controller, or it is a loose cable. If you think otherwise, please let me know. If not, i'd like to know how I can check the HDD cable.
ive got a slight problem with my laptop. 2-3 months ago i added an addition gig of ram to my acer aspire 3050 for a total of 1.5gbs. it was the correct type of ram(i made sure it was the same as what was already in there). for some reason the computer will recognize that the ram has been placed in the slot but it does use it at all. when i am running programs will it will still draw what's needed from the hard drive even though peak usage rarely surpassed 700mb of ram. was there something i was supposed to activate/adjust after installing the ram?
and another disconcerting thing is that since i installed the ram the fan is on fullblast 100% of the time and the machine heats up almost to the point of overheating really fast even when doing basic things like surfing the web
I have an Acer 8935g running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with 4GB of Ram. Would I be able to add any more memory than 4gb or is this the maximum? Also I have the Intel Q9000 and ATi 4670 1gb graphics card. Would I be able to upgrade these and if so what would you guys recoomend? Would the icore range work on my laptop?
I recently purchased additional RAM to upgrade my Acer Aspire 5601. According to Acer website, crucial.com and other places I searched, my model can be upgraded to 4GB of RAM (2 per slot). Inserted the new RAM and booted up and it just hung at the splash screen. The RAM I purchased was PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) and I had understood that my system would still accept it and make the adjustment accordingly. I tried several different things:
- I removed one RAM chip and system boots up and Windows recognizes 2GB (tried the other chip too so I know both are working)
- Thinking the type of RAM was an issue I took 4GB of DDR2-533 from another laptop and tried with no luck.
My dvd/cd rom had been working fine and all of a sudden it disappeared...I tried the registy--nothing....I tried device manager--nothing...I tried BIOS---nothing!....I know that a bunch of people have had the same issue...I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution.
I wanted to upgrade my processor on my Aspire 5100 from the so so tl-50 to the RM-70. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this and if so, did you have any problems installing. from what I have researched, AMD is using the same bios for the the Turion processors and the RM-70 seems to be the one that uses the same wattage range, socket and power consumption.
I have an Acer Aspire 1501LMi laptop. I recently purchased 2gb ram for it (2x1gb sticks) through crucial UK, using their tool to help determine the ram that you need.
For some reason, I have been unable to use both sticks together though? It appeared to crash windows on boot up, and thinking there may be some sort of weird configuration with windows which is causing this, I have attempted to reinstall but have found it crashes during the install too. (I am running windows XP Pro with SP3). Strangely though, it DOES work fine if I use either of the 1gb sticks along with a 512mb stick of ram? Plus each Ram stick has been tested individually and found to be functioning correctly!
I have contacted Crucial about this, and they have also replaced both of the sticks of ram. Unfortunately, the same thing continues to happens?
My Acer bios version is 1.06. My Phoenix Bios version is "PhoenixBios 4.0 release 6.0", however, going onto Phoenix's website, the newest version is "PhoenixBios 4.0 release 6.1". Whilst on the Phoenix website, I noticed that they link to a website offering an update service called eSupport.com. I ran there tool, and it suggested i can get the newer PhoenixBios version for my laptop but you have to pay for it? Acers website only has my current version 1.06 of the acer 1500 bios.
Does anyone have any experience of this problem, or does anyone have any experience of running PhoenixBios 4.0 release 6.1 on an Aspire 1501LMi laptop?
The SSD drive would be big enough for my needs but I'm hearing they are real slow. My experience with other SS storage devices would seem to confirm this. Any experience out there with speed issues on these solid state hard drives?
The USB ports on my 8735G are messed. Everything with my system is fine until I plug something into the USB. After about 30 seconds, the whole computer freezes without any hope of recovery. Only a hard restart fixes it. This happens with mice, USB drives, UDB keys, anything. I tried disabling the power management on USB (selective suspend) and it doesn't help. I've googled the crap outta this and I've tried all the possible fixes and solutions and suggestions I've found. I know the ports or hub are not defective as they will transfer data in small amounts before freezing. However, it will freeze right away (before 30 seconds) if I attempt to transfer anything bigger than 300 MB.
i have an acer aspire 5100 series everything is great on it except i have this weird problem, when i connect to my wireless network after is says connected i open the iexplorer and then the laptop shuts off. Thats the only time it does that, if i dont connect to the internet it works fine and never turns off. First i thought it was overheating but i bought those fans that go under the laptops and still shuts off when i connect to my wireless network. Anyone have any idead of what could be causing this?
As far as I am concerned; the two graphic cards are not hugely different in performance. Is that $480 difference solely for CPU worth it?
I am not a huge gamer, but I do play some games occasionally and don't mind being blown away by the photo-realistic graphics in the future.
So the thing is, with the 2.5GHz, I may be able to swap with a much better graphics card and able able to play games with awesome graphic a few years down the road; whereas, with only 2.0GHz CPU, you can't really do much.
I am running Vista (32bit), with 1.42 bios, was on the factory installed 512mb ram sticks. I have installed 2 x 2gb Kingston sticks from a kta-mb667k2/4g kit. But the issue is that I only see 2gb active on my system. And when I remove one module, I only see 1gb even though there is a 2gb stick in place. So with both modules installed I ran CPU-Z and it tells me that in each slot there is only 1gb in each slot - see screenshot.
CPU-Z also says: Channels# - Dual DC Mode - Symmetric
So far I think its a great notebook for the price. I have'nt ran into any serious issues.
1. Sound - When playing music the sound is ok, However with Bluray or DVDs the sound is very low, even on 100% volume level. I tested the Bluray disc that came with it and the DVD to Twister, and in a quiet room its too low to capture all the details of the sound. Agian music (ie.MP3s) sound fine, but movies are very low. I tried enabling the Dolby Pro IIx but that didn't help.
2. Webcam - How exactly do I turn it on/off. I found the crystal eye software that works with it automatically turning the camera on, but it has no options to do anything with it. No record button or anything. I read that Windows Movie Maker can be used, but it does not detect the camera at all.
3. Acer Arcade Deluxe. - The album art of the music that I add does show up. I have them embedded in the idtags, They show up in Vista Media Center however.
4. This is probably more of a Vista issue, but I noticed the hard drive is constanly being access most of the time, and I can't figure out why. I googled and learned about potential culprits like Superfetch, and Search Indexing, Auto defraging, and Malware Scanners. And after disabling all of that the drive still read/writes like crazy when its idle. In Task Manager, I've discover that a file lsass.exe and svchost.exe are the primary culprits, but I don't know if and how I should disable them.
