I own an Acer Aspire M5-581T.Everything with it works fine except this one problem.While I am using it on battery (i.e. not charging), it shuts off unexpectedly. If the charger is connected, it runs just fine. No unexpected shut offs. Is it battery related issue? should replacing the batter fix it?

1. My hard driver died completly on me .
2. My uncle gave me his hard drive and i tried installing win XP
That didnt really work cause i couldnt figure out the graphic driver.
3. A friend of my dad`s installed windows vista(ultimate edition )
and everything works perfectly fine ......
With one exception ! whenever i try installing a game( WoW) it works but i cant get the 3rd expansion installed ... it goes up to 30% and it automatically shuts down without a warning or whatnot . The thing is that i THINK my vent is dusty ( not sure thats why im asking you people).
SO WHAT SHOULD I DO ? is it the vent ? im more than grateful to whoever tries to help me out with this .
I have had this computer about 8 months, don't use it a lot.All of the sudden it shuts down at 50% where as it used to not.

When I check Device Manager it is showing a whole list of USB Device Drivers (See Below). Do I just delete all but the USB 3.0 Device Drivers??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been working on this issue on my own for about a week now. I'm not entirely sure how to start explaining, so I'll just do a rundown of the noticable issues.
Hovering over the speaker icon gives me the text, "No speakers or headphones are plugged in." I use the internal speakers, and I always have my headphones plugged in. Audio playback troubleshooting doesnt give me anything (though at one point during my progress, it said that my audio device was disabled.)
Device management has been confusing at best. I can't seem to get the Realtek W8.1 drivers to properly download, even after finding the Acer-support driver.
I have an acer M3 581T which I bought about a year ago. Now, windows crashed and said there was a file missing. I am no longer able to boot up the system, I've tried the erecovery (alt f10) but it just proceeds and says it's not able to boot. I have no recovery cd/usb at hand. It is of my understanding that this ultrabook has two harddrives. One SSD on which the operating system is installed and one HDD with the other files on.What do I do to make it work again? I do not care if all my files are lost.

I've had the laptop for about 2 years and done clean installation of Windows multiple times to attempt to fix the problem. It happens to freeze unexpectedly during usage of the latop and even when I'm away and come back it is frozen which leads me to turning the laptop off and on. I do have SquareTrade warrenty on my laptop and I sent it in so I can try getting the problem and fixed; but I got it back.

Quick background:
My dad just returned from Afghanistan and is home for a few weeks before he heads back (by home I mean with my mother - i.e. I am not with them so I cannot get my hands on the computer).
He's been using his netbook (Acer Aspire One ZG5) while over there and brought it back with him. It's been working perfectly fine for the last 6 months while he was there, but today when he tried to turn it on to show some pictures to my mom it wouldn't.
The computer would start up fine and begin loading windows. Then it just dies - it just shuts itself off.
The next time, the computer gave them the option to turn it on in safe mode which they tried. Same problem.
They've tried several times and it won't start - it also fails at different times.
Sometimes it almost fully loads windows and other times it shuts off a lot sooner.
I made him open the BIOS which worked fine... for a few seconds and then randomly shut itself off again.
Have windows 7 installed for past 5 months just recently only when playing poker on facebook the computer will shut down on its own, could this be a Ram isuue, I tried restoring the computer to 2 weeks prior to the issue,
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am one of those where the tightening of the screws didn't work. The screw in question "over-turned" when I wnated to fix it so I do not get my battery running. Then I tried to open the back as you describe. I removed all the screws.... but.... still couldnt open it. The back-panel is somehow else fixed... I can ot remove it. Is there any trick or whatsoever or am I missing something else here?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my laptop (Acer Aspire 5741G).It´s a couple of years old and the battery stopped working a year back and after that I need to use the power cable.Earlier the laptop got really hot sometimes and shut itself down.I have cleaned it inside (I took the laptop apart) and also changed to a SSD drive.
After that it worked better for a while but now the same thing have happened again but there are some differences from earlier. IT´S WORSE.
1. The laptop doesn´t get hot. It´s almost cold..... I downloaded a program to see the status of the computer and from it I could read from the sensor data that the temperature is between 30-40degC (CPU usage is as low as 0-4% if I just leave it).
2. The fan starts directly when I start the computer and goes on 100% all the time (even if I don´t do anything).
3. After 3-4 minutes the laptop shut itself down. Even if I go into the BIOS at start-up and just leave it.
4. I have cleaned it again and everything but the same thing happens after I have mount it together again.
What´s wrong? Can it be the power cable (AC adapter)? But why does the fan behave like this?
I have an Acer Aspire v3-551g-8454 laptop. Lately it has been shutting itself off after anywhere from 5 to 24 hours of it being turned on. In the past I could simply turn it back on and resume from there. Now, when I try to turn it back on, the power button just flashes a few times and the laptop doesn't turn on. The laptop doesn't feel overly hot anywhere on it's surface.

Replaced the display with a brand new one, and the result is that it comes on, displays the opening screen, briefly flashes what looks like the screen you get when you shut down abnormally,then powers down. It will also power down in about the same time if I F2 into the BIOS.

Normally it's around 100 degrees but it sometimes goes up to 103 - 104. I also have an extra cooler, 200 x 200 x 20mm, 850 RPM which doesn't seem to work that much. My computer usually turns off 2 -3 times a day and that is really annoying and I don't want to damage my computer.....

I don't know much about computers, but i do enjoy several pc games, and watch a lot of streaming videos. when doing so my computer almost always shuts itself off, even while running games that could hardly be called graphic intensive. I'd thought it might be an overheating issue? but i don't think that's the case.
I've also noticed that, within the task manager, the disk will often jump to 100%.
Again, for months after i bought the machine, it worked perfectly fine. many of the programs that it used to run, now cause it to shut down without warning.
Have this laptop a couple of months for sons schoolwork. Now it wont stay on unless power cord in. When its on, verything goes fine, it battery icon says its at 98%avaliable (plugged in, not charging). As soon as cord is out, it dies completely no power even when start button pushed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've bought a new laptop 1 week ago, and it's running smooth with 1 exception: Everytime I shut the computer down or save energy, it magically forgets it has fans to cool cpu and graphics card. When i try to run a game it will gradually drop fps until it shuts down from overheating. I tried to fully discharge it and disconnect it from the battery to identify the hardware and then set it to standard in the bios, then it works. But the moment I shut down the computer it is the same thing over again. I don't want to do said process everytime I start my laptop..
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had the M5-581T for 1yr and has worked fine. Now I have followed the directions for the suggested 8.1 upgrade.
Now I've been noticing intermittant events where I close the lip and the system goes to sleep. But when I choose to open the lid and wake back up the system actually turns on from a fresh boot thus losing anything I had open when the lid was closed to sleep. This seems to happen most when the unit is not plugged in but not all the time.
Also the unit will sometimes wake back up but not have any WIFI access and state that the WIFI is turned off w/o the option to turn it back on. This is only fixed by closing all and restarting.
What BIOS/Drivers need to be installed to fix this or is there a Battery issue?
I updated the bios which fixed other issues. I updated the drivers and did all the win7 updates to rule any of that out. When teh laptop gets down to 18% it just powers off instantly. It does not go through a normal shutdown process or hibernate. I can power it back on and it shows 18% battery left. Is the battery going bad? I dont think this machine is barely a year old yet. I have no problems on wall power. Could it be a Win7 power setting? Just surprised win7 would slam the power off like that.

When I check the battery health, it shows "Your Battery is able to charge normally. However, you may begin to notice reduced operating time because your long-term battery life is decreasing". I know my battery possibly needs to be replaced, but don't understand why battery indicating incorrectly?

Worked fine on AC or battery until I installed a new Dell battery a few months ago.
Subsequently, works only about two minutes on battery, then completely shuts down without warning and can't be re-started until re-connected to AC power. Adjusting Power Schemes "Running on batteries" in Power Options Properties hasn't helped.
Works OK on AC.
Had my Macbook Pro 2 years now, and the battery is done. It says its charged, but 15 minutes of use it just shuts down. How much are the batteries? Where is the best place to buy them?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI say 'playing' because I never actually get there. Say, Im on the train, and I'll want to play something.. Assassins Creed. I load it up, loading screen is fine, the little video opening is fine, as soon as it comes to actually rendering the graphics it jsut turns itself off. I plug it in at home and it runs beautifully, but as soon as I unplug that power cable, the whole thing just turns off.
It reports a windows error after this, but there is nothing in the error log telling me what shut it down. I KNOW this isn't overheating because I can play it fine on power and although it gets hot when playing gfx intense games it has never turned itself offdue to that.
The games I can play on battery are WoW and Cimcity 4 and audiosurf (although that lags alot on battery :) xD
The games I cannot are Assassins Creed and Devil may Cry 4.
Is this a power issue?
I have tried on multiple power settings and it still likes to turn off when I want to play these games. It may be a GPU power issue?
I have an issue with this laptop. as written before, it shuts down in less than 5 seconds after powering it on.
Both HDD and Wifi LED are steady blue and the middle battery one starts blinking ( battery is not installed ).
System, I/O and TAA boards have been replaced without success. what else could be wrong, ?
nb : tests have been done with everything unplugged except screen cable and connectors cable.
I've been having trouble with my laptop battery, its an acer 1642 maybe 3 years old, but i actually think the battery is fine.
I had been unable to get the battery to last for any longer than 20 mins, now this didnt really bother me as i usually always use it near a power outlet anyway, however being bored thought i would try something, so i turned off the battery warnings and automatic shutdown and just let it go untill it died, and it actually lasted aver an hour on 0% yes zero% so that kinda tells me the battery is fine.
when i charged it back up i ran into all sorts of problems, hanging on boot, crashing when i opened up power options and dunno if its related but some system proccess hogging the CPU at at least 50% all the time, however this only really happened when i booted it on AC power, under battery it seemed a lot better, long story slighty shorted, updated the bios and it seems to have fixed this problem.
however this is where it gets weird, now i am unable to get it to charge above 7% yet now when i unplug it at 7% it tells me i have about 3-4 hours left (from new it was never over 1.5hrs) just now its sitting at 7% and 3hrs 12mins.
does anyone know what i have done, battery times all seem to be ok, battery holds the system up no problem it just doenst seem to be reading the charge correctly ... is there anything i can do to fix this, except buying a new battery, really dont wanna do that, no cash just now ... any help would be greatly appreciated
