Had my Macbook Pro 2 years now, and the battery is done. It says its charged, but 15 minutes of use it just shuts down. How much are the batteries? Where is the best place to buy them?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my laptop (Acer Aspire 5741G).It´s a couple of years old and the battery stopped working a year back and after that I need to use the power cable.Earlier the laptop got really hot sometimes and shut itself down.I have cleaned it inside (I took the laptop apart) and also changed to a SSD drive.
After that it worked better for a while but now the same thing have happened again but there are some differences from earlier. IT´S WORSE.
1. The laptop doesn´t get hot. It´s almost cold..... I downloaded a program to see the status of the computer and from it I could read from the sensor data that the temperature is between 30-40degC (CPU usage is as low as 0-4% if I just leave it).
2. The fan starts directly when I start the computer and goes on 100% all the time (even if I don´t do anything).
3. After 3-4 minutes the laptop shut itself down. Even if I go into the BIOS at start-up and just leave it.
4. I have cleaned it again and everything but the same thing happens after I have mount it together again.
What´s wrong? Can it be the power cable (AC adapter)? But why does the fan behave like this?
I put the sims 3 in the computer, it loads to the main screen and the shuts down. It doesn't give any warning and does not restart. It also doesn't give a reason or notice as to why it shut down. The computer is not over-heating and I only have 1 expansion pack. Extra info: It is an 8GB RAM, intel core i5, is a 64-bit operating system, and Windows 8.

And I've Dusted it off many time and it doesn't overheat, I've send it back to my after sales service twice. The first days, it was working like it should, I could play normally.. but Few days after, the problem come back..It is Working for everything! Except For the games.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron 1545 use to randomly shuts down (direct shutdown), I think i was due to over heating because i could feel the bottom of the laptop get really hot, so i started to have the laptop elevated for better air flow, that worked for a little while but then it would have the same problem, i have not cleaned the inside of the laptop or ever opened it, but i plan to do it to see whats going on, i don't think i have a warranty on it anymore so i think will experiment, but before i do that, i wanted to know what could be the cause of this problem, my best guess is i need to clean it or replace the CPU fan.
Also, I left my laptop in the car overnight and i was really cold out, after that night, now the laptop doesn't stay on more than 2 mins.....
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 6930G which came with Vista Home Premium 32bit installed. I have a problem with the Ethernet. When I plug the cable on my device I can connect to the network but after few minutes it appears a blue screen and my pc shuts down.

My problem is that my audio shuts off after a few minutes, then if I want it back I have to restart the PC and it appears fine, but imagine having to restart your computer after initially powering up EVERY time you want to use the PC. The Support assistant says my drivers are up to date which may be the problem due to the fact that I did not have this issue until recently which tells me that one of the automatic updates caused this problem.
Additionally, a problem that was never fixed was that my internet inexplicably drops for no apparent reason. Sporadic problem and has nothing to do with my connection as it as occurred in multiple physical locations. Opening up Internet explorer and clicking "fix connection" works after a few minutes, but this is only a bandaid solution.
My 2 day old Lenovo Y510P laptop has a problem with charging. I noticed the battery was never going above 60% charged. I left it plugged in for over 24 hours and nothing changed. So I decided to completely drain the battery and used the laptop until it died. With the laptop off I left it plugged in until the battery LED turned white which indicates the battery is fully charged. Unfortunately the battery still shows 60% charged.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking into getting one of the new macbook pro's. Though I must say the non removable battery does concern me a bit. In past laptops I have had, I without a doubt saw increased battery wear and tear when I left the batter in the laptop while the laptop itself was plugged in. I completly destroyed a battery on my Dell laptop by doing this for about a month when it was asking as a desktop. I took the laptop which used to get around 4 hrs of battery life and then after a month it got no more than 15 minutes.
So after that I always took the battery out, so now with the new macbook pro's you cannot take the batteries out, so wont the batteries wear down to nothing faster than if you took them out when not using them?
it's probably just me but it's been a long time since I installed Vista64 (it's that reliable) and I've forgotten a few things...
1. How do I prevent the battery from being charged when the laptop is switched on (and powered by cable)?
2. How can I make the CD automatically stop spinning after, say, a minute of non-use?
i accidently stored a fully charged battery for almost 3 weeks, but yesterday when i attached it to my laptop, my laptop wont turn on. it is as if it cant supply power. i attached the ac cord to see if it was discharged but it wasnt, even windows recognizes it as fully charged. but again the battery cannot supply power to the laptop
is there anyway to save my battery or do i have to buy a new one
My laptop is Dell ultrabook XPS 13. I've been used it for about 6 months. I don't know when it started to be like this but I've just noticed recently that the battery shown on desktop is never full charged even when it's plugged in for long hours. Last week it's at 41-42% at maximum but now it never reached more than 39% and it seems to be less and less even though I keep it plugged in every time I use it. I'm worried there's something wrong with battery but it said my battery is still fine, but obviously it's not fine.

When I am running the computer I have it charged with the Optimised Battery Health option, so, less than 60% is charged all the time, and I have never removed the adapter if I am using it. But, when I went to sleep I removed the adapter from the laptop.
What happened: Today finally I am taking it out for a breath and it lasts for only an hour!!!!
What was on: I was using it to do some research online only. So technically only wifi was on - not even bluetooth or video or music play. I only ran Chrome, a dictionary software, and my Dropbox. Well, I actually turned the screen into very bright, which was full brightness minus two presses of F11 (to decrease the brightness).
Would it be a cause of upgrading to WINDOWS 8.1?! (like upgrade to iOS 7 on an Apple phone: running latest iOS consumes lots more battery capacity in older iPhone..)
Battery of Dell(inspiron 15R N5110) isn't charged, although it is installed well and the computer is plugged inEven if it were corrupted, then it would have charged.
If you see the screenshot, you will see that the laptop is working on the main power supply, and battery is empty, but it isn't charging. I am sure that it is installed well.

I kept it at 40-50% most of the time by changing battery threshold. Total cycle count was about 80 (84 now) first use date 2013-03.
On Saturday I tried to run a "discharge-charge-discharge-charge" cycle (by watching some movies) to reset the gauge of my battery. During 2nd discharge my laptop hibernated due to low charge much earlier than expected, when I turned it on it showed that the max capacity is 28 Wh and the battery is in the "poor" condition.
I tried to perform automatic gauge reset but didn't get much (29 Wh). I updated power manager and performed another automatic reset which failed too.
So I tried to make a manual reset and left my laptop paying a movie for a night. On Monday I plugged my AC adapter in but found out that the battery won't charge: "a battery error has occurred the battery cannot be charged".
I cleared residual capacitance by pushing the power button several times and reset the BIOS to defaults but got nothing.
If this problem can't be sold I would like to know the reason of it to avoid such things in the future. While googling this forum I met contradictory opinions on battery reset: ones say that it's extremely harmful because battery "doesn't like" to be discharged to 0%, others say its harmless.
Is there a way to find this out WITHOUT turning on the computer?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm not even coming close to this with my 2010 macbook pro 13 inch unless I turn my brightness down to 50%, on reboot it defaults to 100%. This is when doing nothing or just surfing the net. I can get about 7 hrs, with my laptop screen turned to 50%. Any tweaks available? I'd love to know how Apple came up with 10 hrs.

I disconnect it from power supple in the morning and put it in my backpack, and after 3 hours I waked it up by opening the lid and I notice the battery is at 95%. The battery is pretty much out of power after about 4 hours of use with airport on for wireless connection, and at the lowest brightness. Is it possible there is a battery leak, or is this normal? The battery is at 99% health and 40 cycles. It was went down to 96% health before, and it came back to 99% after I calibrated the battery.

I hardly ever use my laptop away from my desk, so it's plugged in all the time. While plugged in, I still keep the battery in the laptop. It's only been through 10 cycles in 2 years, and I know I should've calibrated it monthly, but I didn't and I really wish I had now. Right now, when unplugged, my battery only lasts about half an hour. I downloaded coconutBattery and apparently, my original battery capacity was 5600 mAh, and now it's only 543 mAh.
My question is, did I mess up the battery myself by not calibrating it, or was the battery defective in the first place? :S Or is it just old?
I'm a real n00b when it comes to computers....but if this ISN'T my fault, the laptop is under an Apple Care Protection Plan, and so would that cover the battery? Is there any way to fix it without getting a new battery?
I bought a new white macbook a few days ago. I just noticed now the batter meter says "not charging" and its only at 95%. Is there something wrong with my battery? should I drain it all the way and then recharge?

I found that my battery health is unstable, sometime it said 97%, 98%, 99% and 100%. I thought this was normal.
But today, I turn the dashboard on and istat pro said 35% battery health.
Should I go to a apple store and ask them for a battery replacement?
i've just purchased a 2.0GHZ aluminum macbook recently and am having a small problem with it. The macbooks battery percentage indicator seems to be dropping a percentage point every couple of days even though i'm on mains power? The power adaptor LED is green idicating the computer is fully charged. I've calibrated the battery as apple recommended but its still doing it. The apple tech guy said that it is possibly a 'power board' problem rather than a battery fault and it will need changing. Has anybody else experienced this problem? Other than this small problem the macbook is fantastic, should have coverted over from a pc years ago
