Acer Aspire 5749 :: Shuts Down After About 5 Minutes Of Playing Any Full Screen Game
Oct 18, 2014
Any full screen game shuts my computer down after 5 minutes of play. I have changed my antivirus to game mode, checked with the company that I was getting the majority of my games from. Is there any way to stop this?
My laptop is an alienware m17x r2, It have been 2 years Since I've bought it, my laptop shuts down after few minutes playing with any game.. And I've Dusted it off many time and it doesn't overheat, I've send it back to my after sales service twice. The first days, it was working like it should, I could play normally.. but Few days after, the problem come back..It is Working for everything! Except For the games.
I put the sims 3 in the computer, it loads to the main screen and the shuts down. It doesn't give any warning and does not restart. It also doesn't give a reason or notice as to why it shut down. The computer is not over-heating and I only have 1 expansion pack. Extra info: It is an 8GB RAM, intel core i5, is a 64-bit operating system, and Windows 8.
Configuration: 2nd gen i7,4GB RAM DDR3 1333MHz,750 GB(7200rpm) HDD, nVidia GT 540M 2GB DDR3 I bought a Dell xps 15 laptop with above configuration on August,2011 with an intention to play latest games.
I played Split/second, NFS:the run ,Max Pyne and recently NFS:most wanted. Split/second and most wanted runs on intel HD with sluggish graphics performance. But the run does not run intel hd,it requires discrete graphics. When I switched to nvidia graphics, every time the game computer hanged down after 5-10 minutes of playing the game. Computer screen froze and sound was looping. Control+Alt+Del didn’t work at this occasion.
I had to manually restart my computer. And a point here, there is over heat beneath the laptop though I use Logitech laptop cooler. Games run on nvidia on battery for about 20 minutes on battery power and heat produced under the laptop was also less. This thing happened with every game I listed above and some other graphics demanding games also. Same games worked fine on my friends Dell inspiron 15 laptop with an 2nd gen i5 ,4gb ram and nvidia gt525m 1gb ddr3 graphics card. And of course, these games were installed from same setup file those I used to install games on my computer. So,there can’t be problem with games file itself.
I called Dell xps premium customer support over phone. They told me to install all latest drivers and bios. I did all the things they told. They also remotely diagnosed my computer but nothing good happened. I then went to dell service Centre at Kolkata. I showed them the problem by playing games before themselves. They reformatted and installed all the things again and changed my harddisc. But my problem was not solved. I contacted service Centre again. But they found no problem after diagnosing my computer. But games did not run. In a nutshell, through a span of 1 year my problem could not be solved. And my warranty period has also expired.
I say 'playing' because I never actually get there. Say, Im on the train, and I'll want to play something.. Assassins Creed. I load it up, loading screen is fine, the little video opening is fine, as soon as it comes to actually rendering the graphics it jsut turns itself off. I plug it in at home and it runs beautifully, but as soon as I unplug that power cable, the whole thing just turns off.
It reports a windows error after this, but there is nothing in the error log telling me what shut it down. I KNOW this isn't overheating because I can play it fine on power and although it gets hot when playing gfx intense games it has never turned itself offdue to that.
The games I can play on battery are WoW and Cimcity 4 and audiosurf (although that lags alot on battery :) xD
The games I cannot are Assassins Creed and Devil may Cry 4.
Is this a power issue?
I have tried on multiple power settings and it still likes to turn off when I want to play these games. It may be a GPU power issue?
I have a y550 ideapad (gpu gt 130m) and i have a problem which is similar to others: when i play a game, after sometimes, from 5min to more than one hour, the pc crashes (black screen, but with backlight, harddisk still running, sound buffer played again and again, no response from keyboard) and i have to switch off the computer to start it again and everything is ok.
So i have tested my ram and gpu ram, no problem
I test the temperature - log of gpu-z: Ok except one thing, at the very end, just before the crash, the GPU memory clock goes from 799.2 (which is the speed during gaming) to 800.00Mhz and the temperature goes from 66°C to 255°C instantly. So there is the bug, software bug?
I want to manage the speed of the gpu memory (to put it max to 799.2) but there is nothing in the BIOS....
I have a problem with my laptop (Acer Aspire 5741G).It´s a couple of years old and the battery stopped working a year back and after that I need to use the power cable.Earlier the laptop got really hot sometimes and shut itself down.I have cleaned it inside (I took the laptop apart) and also changed to a SSD drive.
After that it worked better for a while but now the same thing have happened again but there are some differences from earlier. IT´S WORSE.
1. The laptop doesn´t get hot. It´s almost cold..... I downloaded a program to see the status of the computer and from it I could read from the sensor data that the temperature is between 30-40degC (CPU usage is as low as 0-4% if I just leave it). 2. The fan starts directly when I start the computer and goes on 100% all the time (even if I don´t do anything). 3. After 3-4 minutes the laptop shut itself down. Even if I go into the BIOS at start-up and just leave it. 4. I have cleaned it again and everything but the same thing happens after I have mount it together again.
What´s wrong? Can it be the power cable (AC adapter)? But why does the fan behave like this?
I have an Acer Aspire V3-551 which is having an overheating problem. However, it only overheats when I am playing some game and the laptop is plugged in. It will not over heat when the computer is on battery only. It shouldn't be the power cord because I have bought a new one since the problem started. Also, the heating seems to be coming from where the fan is.
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 6930G which came with Vista Home Premium 32bit installed. I have a problem with the Ethernet. When I plug the cable on my device I can connect to the network but after few minutes it appears a blue screen and my pc shuts down.
I've bought a new laptop 1 week ago, and it's running smooth with 1 exception: Everytime I shut the computer down or save energy, it magically forgets it has fans to cool cpu and graphics card. When i try to run a game it will gradually drop fps until it shuts down from overheating. I tried to fully discharge it and disconnect it from the battery to identify the hardware and then set it to standard in the bios, then it works. But the moment I shut down the computer it is the same thing over again. I don't want to do said process everytime I start my laptop..
I have a v3 571G laptop core i7 with a geforce 640m video card. Is not the faster video card but can handle advance video games in medium to high. Every time I play any video games, with settings from medium to high, at the beginning the fps are around 34 to 40 but after 10 to 20 min of playing, the fps gets down to 12 to 20 specially when there is explosions and such. Is my laptop video card dying or is something else?
I have problem with my Acer 5750g. When I playing games cooler work in passive mode, like it dont know that should work as much as possible.
After 5 minuts without additional cooler it goes overheat to 100 degree and turn off instantly.
When i turn my laptop on, the cooler starting work very good, like it should work all the time when it overheating. But after few secounds its turn into passive/silent mode and doesn't work properly till overheat and turn off again.
I have some problems with my 3 and an half year old laptop. When I play games on it, it get so warm that it instantly shuts down. Normally it's around 100 degrees but it sometimes goes up to 103 - 104. I also have an extra cooler, 200 x 200 x 20mm, 850 RPM which doesn't seem to work that much. My computer usually turns off 2 -3 times a day and that is really annoying and I don't want to damage my computer.....
I have a Studio XPS 1640 that I bought approximately two months ago. It was working fine until today.
I was bored and was playing Chess Titans when the screen would all of the sudden go blank.
The keyboard would not respond and I had to do a hard shutdown. I played Chess Titans again and it was working fine for a few games but all of the sudden it went to the blank, black screen again and I had to do a hard shutdown.
After playing a game my screen remained stretched, horizontally stretched out. Normally my screen went back to normal after closing the game(Rollercoaster Tycoon 3), but this time it somehow got stuck or something. I checked the resolution: it's 1024x768 like it always was, so that's not the problem. When I "print screen", the image is just normal on other computers, so I think it may be the driver? Do I have to download NVIDIA Driver? I tried that, but it says the driver is not compatible with my hardware.
i have a hp pavilion 15-n055tx with amd radeon hd 8670m, when i try to play call of duty 4 game starts with no vedio but sounds are playing. i can even hear the menu sounds when i move the mouse.
I brought a new mini wifi card for my laptop so i could get 5gh wifi due to an upgrade in my broadband.
I did some research and found that supposidly the Intel Centrion Advanced 6205 card is compatible with my laptop.
I downloaded the most recent drivers and install the card.
Device manager see's it and states drivers are installed but has error code 10 -' device cannot start.
I check the registry which did not seem to have the problems in as reported by other forums (something about upper and lower filters) I when into bios setup and restored defaults.
Tried down-grading the driver to an older version but still the same problem. I even took it out and re-installed the card.
I have an Aspire 1694wlmi with a 2GHz Pentium M, a Mobility Radeon x700 (256mb) and 1GB of ram. I run Win XP with SP3. I didn't do anything to the comp apart from removing its crappy built-in wlan adapter.
The issue is this: whenever I play any game (even as undemanding as UT99) the laptop just shuts down without warning. This even happens playing 8ballclub's billiards sim in window mode for instance.
The whole thing started happening occasionally a long time ago (with Rome Total War at first). Right now, it happens always and very very soon after starting the game (i.e. less than a minute).
I have noticed that the CPU usage jumps to 100% as soon as I launch the game and stays there until shutdown (but this is supposed to be normal, yes?). Also, I tried stopping all non-essential processes (of which there weren't that many to begin with) and the CPU usage is around 0-4% when idle.
I have also opened the lid and look for dust - none there (neither around the processor nor around the graphics adapter)
I tried updating the ATI drivers, but since the Radeon is included in all Acers, it won't let you update the drivers - and Acer doesn't provide updates either. I have installed the Catalyst Control Center...
People have associated such problems with viruses. I use Avast which finds no viruses (I'm installing Kaspersky next).
I just bought an Acer Aspire D255E with a cracked display. I tested it and it worked fine. Replaced the display with a brand new one, and the result is that it comes on, displays the opening screen, briefly flashes what looks like the screen you get when you shut down abnormally, then powers down. It will also power down in about the same time if I F2 into the BIOS.
Had my Macbook Pro 2 years now, and the battery is done. It says its charged, but 15 minutes of use it just shuts down. How much are the batteries? Where is the best place to buy them?
We downloaded Minecraft and he plays Hunger Games, a multi-player game, online. He'll join a game and start playing without an issue. But after a few minutes the screen freezes.
I am using Windows 8 and my notebook model is Envybook 6-1002st. Since last week, i can not hear anything while playing games, also no sound in web browser. I tried to all solving methods from Windows and Windows can not detect any problem. Last updates of audio and sound card are installed. Now i can hear all Windows sounds. But no sound for browser and games.
My Inspiron 1545 use to randomly shuts down (direct shutdown), I think i was due to over heating because i could feel the bottom of the laptop get really hot, so i started to have the laptop elevated for better air flow, that worked for a little while but then it would have the same problem, i have not cleaned the inside of the laptop or ever opened it, but i plan to do it to see whats going on, i don't think i have a warranty on it anymore so i think will experiment, but before i do that, i wanted to know what could be the cause of this problem, my best guess is i need to clean it or replace the CPU fan.
Also, I left my laptop in the car overnight and i was really cold out, after that night, now the laptop doesn't stay on more than 2 mins.....
For 2 weeks or more now, my network is giving me lagspikes/disconnect when playing online games like League of Legends every time there is a bit more action on the map(ping goes to 900+).
Have windows 8.1..I am using Wi-Fi, here's a screenshot of my drivers.I dont have this problem in another city, where I'm studying(I insert cable there for connection(campus network)).Also here at home, my brother has the exact same computer and w8.1 and he doesnt have any connection issues.
I dont have torrents, antivirus updates or any of that going on while playing. We have maybe 4 computers and probably 1-2 phones using the net aswell, but that doesn't seem to be the case, as I said these problems should have occurred with my brother's computer aswell? Also when these devices are not in the house, I still suffer from lagspikes.
I bought my ideapad month ago and had some problems. It is gt 755m sli model.
While playing any game my screen goes weird(Picture bellow) and PC doesn't respond at all. Only way is hard restart. this problem shows only while gaming ad just a few times while watching videos on Youtube.
I tried taking SLi on and off. No difference just Fps drop while sli off but it still crashes.
Also I noticed that it doesn't crash so easily without power cable plugged in so maybe it´s something wrong with my settings.
I bought this laptop mainly for gaming so this problem gets really annoying.
My XPS L702x recently slows down when i play video online or play game. My configuration is: i7 2630QM, GT555M, 6 GB.i played video online and played game ( Skyrim, COD, A.V.A online) smoothly. But for 2, 3 months ago, my laptop slows down and spikes very much. When i watch video online, the screen will freeze 3 to 8 seconds but the sound is still playing. And all games that have run smoothly before, now they lagged too much, for example in Skyrim, when i start a conversation with a NPC, the game will freezes 2,3 seconds, and in the combat it freezes everytime when there's a sound is played (i.e screams, sound of sword slashing, footstep).
I have Microsoft Security Ess, no Semantec, Kaspersky, Norton ... And i have re-installed the Win 7 ultimate, but nothing is fixed, i've updated all my drivers, BIOS, Graphic card, sound card, wifi.i can't do anything with my laptop now, even opening Google Chrome is not easy. I'm really stressed. My battery is broken, i use my laptop on AC adapter only, perhaps this is the cause but i don't think so. Because i have a HP Pavillion and the battery is out too, but the HP is not slowing down.

My problem is that my audio shuts off after a few minutes, then if I want it back I have to restart the PC and it appears fine, but imagine having to restart your computer after initially powering up EVERY time you want to use the PC. The Support assistant says my drivers are up to date which may be the problem due to the fact that I did not have this issue until recently which tells me that one of the automatic updates caused this problem.
Additionally, a problem that was never fixed was that my internet inexplicably drops for no apparent reason. Sporadic problem and has nothing to do with my connection as it as occurred in multiple physical locations. Opening up Internet explorer and clicking "fix connection" works after a few minutes, but this is only a bandaid solution.
I have been using this for 4-6 months this happened before and i bought it to the service center i bought it there twice, and now today it still shuting down while playing not overheating but this pop up shows up when i start it again, whats wrong and Under my laptop is a air condition running under it so not overheating.
about the last week now whenever I play games such as WOW and Far Cry 3 It will start off fine and about a minute - 2 minutes later the game will start to slow down right to less than 1 frame a second I also get keyboard and mouse latency when this happens, and when that starts happening my computer will unexpectedly shutdown.I have the latest driver for my GPU, My computer doesn't feel hot at all when this happens which makes me think it might not be an overheating issue and it only happens when playing games, I can do video editing and rendering just fine along with all the basic computer uses such as file transfer, watching videos, listening to music and browsing without any problem. I pulled my Laptop apart thinking it might just be dust build-up and their was a fair bit of dust clogging up the air vent along the side of my laptop, I cleaned that all out and the air started flowing better from the vent. Thinking that was the problem I turned my laptop back on and it done the same thing while playing games.I'm not sure how to tell If it is a heat issue because there is no separate fan for the cpu or gpu and I can't get temperature readings because my computer slows down too much and then shuts down.Computer Specs:Dell XPS 17 L702x
