Acer Aspire 7720-6569 :: Sudden Shutdown - Power Icon Shows Full Charge And Plugged In
Oct 6, 2014 My battery has not held more than about a 45-second charge since 2009; however, the AC adaptor seems to work fine, and the Power Management icon always tells me that I have a full (i.e., about 45-second) charge and that the AC adaptor is plugged in. Today, just after I disabled the Acer Tour Reminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, and Microsoft Office OneNote (because I never use them and I wanted a faster startup), I moved some program icons that I didn't need or that were already on my Quick Launch tool bar into the Recycle Bin. Suddenly, the notebook make sort of an electronic squeaking sound and immediately shut down--black screen; no lights.
I unplugged it, checked to ensure the battery was properly seated, felt to make sure it did not feel hot anywhere, plugged it in, saw that the lights were showing on the adaptor and on the front left edge of the notebook, turned it on, and selected normal start; it started up again. It ran for at least three minutes (which, because of the battery, it would not unless the AC adaptor was functioning) and then, after I moved a few more icons to the Recycle Bin, it suddenly shut down again in the same manner.
I started it again and it has now been running long enough for me to look up my Acer Forum registration information and update it after resetting my password. I am writing this on another notebook. The Acer is still running, but I want to ensure it doesn't shut down on me when I am in the middle of a project.

Dell Studio 15 :: Black Screen - Can Hear Fan But Nothing Shows?
Dec 17, 2014When I switch on my laptop, I can hear the noise as if it is running however, cannot see anything. I know it isn't the screen and have a feeling it is the motherboard /graphics card (I use a lot of 3D/graphics software). I want it to last me at least another 6-8 months before purchasing a new laptop.

hp support page for my laptop showed a newer bios available,so i installed it and from then my laptop shows black screen i.e it switches on and keeps blinking capslock twice and 2 sec interval and repeats.i searched the internet and found that twice capslock signifies bios failure.so i thougth of following the win+B method,but the problem here is,when i extracted my bios package sp*****.exe i have 2 *.bin files and i dont know where to paste them on my pendrive.

Mar 18, 2013My Inspiron 17R 5720 laptop (which came with windows 8) was working fine yesterday but whenever I try to turn it on today it shows the Dell logo briefly then goes to a black screen and remains like that. The F12 key works, but I can't change any settings as it will only let me highlight the diagnostics option. I've run diagnostics and recieved no error reports. Neither the F2 or F8 keys work, so I can't access BIOS or start in safe mode. I've tried removing the battery and unplugging the power.

Mar 10, 2013My Dell Inspiron M501R will no longer boot up - its shows a black screen and repeatedly beeps 7 times. I understand this means the mother board has failed. The service tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> - its waranty has recently expired.
Interestingly, if you google "Inspiron M501R" google suggests "Inspiron M501R 7 beeps". So I'm guessing this laptop has been designed to fail soon after the waranty expires.
I have written a letter to BBC Watchdog asking how long a laptop can be "expected" to last and whether this would be covered by the UK Sale of Goods Act.

Jan 3, 2015I watched a movie on Thursday evening and closed the lid of my acer aspire E531 laptop. (Chosen shut down method) I wanted to resume working about 2 hours later and was greeted by only a grey screen. Machine powers up but then just the blank screen. After switching on, the fan starts for about 30 seconds and then stops and then the blank (grey like screen)
I've tried some solutions posted on internet ( remove battery and hold power button; press ctr alt del twice; press F8 on start up) Nothing worked. The remove battery solution ignited some response from the machine, i.e. grey screen seemed to turn white with feint blocks in background almost checkered blocks, but very very feint.
