View 9 RepliesMy screen gets black when I start windows 7 on my Hp Paviliom Dm1 Notebook. Also I connected my pc to an external monitor through VGA cable and then I can see the windows operating system in the external monitor . I did a start-up test and then I got these results:
Memory Test: Passed

Optimized DST: Software Error
Battery test: Primary Passed Secondary - NOT Installed

I have a HP G62 B01ET with Windows 7 Home Basic 64 bit and i have been using this computer for about 4 years and suddenly i got the black screen problem when i start my computer and when i disable my video drivers using safe mode i can use the computer on normal mode but it gets really slow and runs on a lower resolution and updating my drivers,bios etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've dell Inspiron N5110 and I'm using it since past 3 and half years. In 2013, base of the laptop was broken and I had to replace it with a new one though there was no problem in hardware at all. Soon after the dell representative installed the new base and left my house I was facing a weird problem. When I power on the laptop, my screen gives a mild flash but does not start (6 out of 10 times, not always), but I can hear windows start up sound in the back ground. I use to press power button again to lock or stand by the laptop and then move my mouse. After performing this I can see the screen glows and log on screen shows up.
I was using my laptop like this for past 1.5 years as pressing a power button was no big deal. Today on the eve of new year, I saw my trick does not work any more. I was not able to start my screen even after repetitive attempts. But I remember I used it last night, display was really fine.
Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with my laptop (HP Pavilion dv4 1428dx) the last thing I did was put it to sleep, then cameback and tried to wake it up but it would not start up. All the lights are on, but the screen is black and the only thing I hear is the fan moving. The caps lock and num lock keys have a blinking light, not really sure what that means. The power LED is on, the battery LED is on, but the hard drive LED is not on.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron 7720 (17R SE) approx 2 years old, just started having problems about a week ago when turning on the computer. LEDs flash and dell quickset buttons light up; but then process just dies, screen is black and only the LEDs by the power symbol and on power buttons are lit, never reaches the Dell logo screen, no fan sounds or anything.
At first, hitting the power button to turn off then back on and the second time the boot process would work. Then it failed to do that, so I had to remove the battery, pull the power cord and hold the power button down for 30 sec's, and then it would boot normal. Now even that does not work, just have to keep powering down and re-powering and after a random number of times, 10-30 it finally boots normal, every once in while it will work first try. It seems to be getting worse.
I have used the Dell Diagnostic on boot (though it took many tries to get into the ePSA, that did not detect any problems. When I use the Dell Support Advanced, no problems detected, and I specifically rand the Motherboard (which included CMOS test) and those did not find any problems.
If I put the computer in sleep, it comes back fine. It is only when I shut down, laptop just will not boot until I hit power on (fail) / power off repeatedly until finally, as if by luck it works fine.
When I start it up, the keyboard back light and camera light come on, the fan runs but the screen is completely black

I'm more of a desktop user but my husband gave me this laptop on January 2007. Since then, I think I only used it for less than 20 hours (we don't have a wireless)... when we got out of town.
The last time I used it, about a year ago, it turned off by itself. I tried to use it again when I got home but the screen is just blank whenever I turn it on. What could be the problem? I don't think it's a good idea to send it for repair to HP as the warranty expired already.
when I turn it on, all the blue lights turn on... but the screen won't therefore I can't use it. Ealier, I hooked up an external monitor but didn't work. Could it be an LCD problem?
The notebook doesn't have any scratch or whatsoever. It still looks like new, yet not working.
Xps m1530 with windows vista . When I could boot the laptop after a while it then shut off. I did run diagnostics, all passed. I run virus scan - all ok. i updated all drivers and now can not get pass the black screen.

I was using my HP Pavilion g7 the other day, while gaming and the screen went black for no appairent reason. i haven't down loaded anything recently and i run virus software.
We went to the HP support web site and went through several diagnotics. When the laptop is rebooted the screen on the laptop will flash images of my desk top but once the machine boots up the screen remains blank. you can see the glow from around the edges but that is it. I have another monitor plugged in currently and the system is functioning propertly except for this. We have also done the following, hard reset,Test for memory modual problems, test the hard drive. I was also trying to update the video drivers but the system tells me the drivers are working properly.
I have a dell xps m170 (2 and a half years old) and last 2 days im getting "funky" display problems...
Initially i got a black screen while in windows...nothing to do but reboot. That worked a couple of times...then after rebooting i get a "whiteish" screen that gradually got blacker from outside in..id say it looked like dark storm clouds
I also noticed that the laptop had gotten a lot hotter than normal...this had been gradually happening over time...so much so that i invested in a laptop case / pad to rest it on while working on it..anyways..after reading some threads here i grabbed some monitoring software and logged GPU temps of 70 spiking to 90ish...CPU from 55 to 90's...
Then the funniest thing happened, in order to boot up and avoid the "whiteish" screen and boot into windows i noticed if i attached an external monitor it worked more than if i didnt !! (no idea if this is relevant).
When i did get into windows...it'd look normal for a while, 10 mins or so..then go black (flicker) and id get a diff display res appear (bigger icons n such)..then what i can only describe as red..sometims yello dots, maybe 4 across (width ways ..like bars of them) running the full length of the screen...
Again after reading some threads decided to run the dell diag...That showed me some errors when it did the video test(i think)

Am i screwed ?? Do i have any options at all...Must point out im NOT a gamer at all...so graffix card isnt an issue, if indeed i can replace it?
I have had my Hp dv7 notebook for a few months now and have had no problems. But all of a sudden, I turn on the computer and see nothng but a blank, black screen. I do not know if I changed the display settings or what, but I cannot see anything. I know the computer is functioning because the fan turns on and the keyboard lights work. When I connected my laptop to an external monitor, I was able to see that my computer was on and fully functional. In fact, I am using it right now on an external monitor to type this message.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HP G72 250US laptop with Windows 7 (64-bit). Laptop has been intermittently stopping. Screen goes black then shuts down tries to restart and sometimes does but screen is black so can’t see what’s on screen. Other times it just shuts down completely. Sometimes screen goes haywire with bizarre horizontal color lines mixed with strange pixelated graphics then goes black.
After restarting in safe mode and ran CCleaner then performed a Hard Reset which seemed to work for the rest of day but next day within an hour screen flashed, went black then came back on again. This time a notice come up but I clicked it thinking to get more info but only made notice go away. It said something about Intel Graphics Accelerator stopped working and had successfully restarted.
I have Intel HD Graphics Driver version 8.15.10.2086 which is what’s listed on HP for correct graphics driver.
My hp pavilion x360 was working fine today inthe morning when I turned it on it all seemed normal I put in the log in password and once I hit enter the screen went black bu the cursor was still showing.

-sometimes works even when is hot
-sometimes goes blackafter I turn it on and then open google
-sometimes works for a while, when its not hot, and then goes black
I don't have a second monitor to connect it, but even if the screen goes black I can still hear the music from youtube, so I guess it's just the screen.
HP Pavilion dv7 1130el, Windows 7 ultimate, runned fine for a year with this OS.
