Jan 11, 2015Dell Inspiron 7720 (17R SE) approx 2 years old, just started having problems about a week ago when turning on the computer. LEDs flash and dell quickset buttons light up; but then process just dies, screen is black and only the LEDs by the power symbol and on power buttons are lit, never reaches the Dell logo screen, no fan sounds or anything.
At first, hitting the power button to turn off then back on and the second time the boot process would work. Then it failed to do that, so I had to remove the battery, pull the power cord and hold the power button down for 30 sec's, and then it would boot normal. Now even that does not work, just have to keep powering down and re-powering and after a random number of times, 10-30 it finally boots normal, every once in while it will work first try. It seems to be getting worse.
I have used the Dell Diagnostic on boot (though it took many tries to get into the ePSA, that did not detect any problems. When I use the Dell Support Advanced, no problems detected, and I specifically rand the Motherboard (which included CMOS test) and those did not find any problems.
If I put the computer in sleep, it comes back fine. It is only when I shut down, laptop just will not boot until I hit power on (fail) / power off repeatedly until finally, as if by luck it works fine.

Dell Inspiron 13 :: 7000 Dark Screen Edges
Dec 24, 2014Just got the 1920 x 1080 version of the 13" inspiron. The left and right edges (about 5-10% and not top or bottom) of the screen are about half as bright as the rest of screen. Also on closer inspection I've noticed that on the left hand side, the middle part of the rubber edge is squashed in. Is this pretty much normal for these laptops? I'll see if my camera can capture these details.

Dec 14, 2014I am using Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2 in 1 laptop for last 2 months. It is a nice laptop to use.
But I have an issue now. It is that the touch screen touches itself automatically on the left side of the screen over top to bottom. It occurs occasionally and it is annoying. I can't control the mouse when it occurs. When I restart the system, it stops.
I can't find any solutions for that. I did calibrate also. It didn't worked.
It touches all over the left portion without gaps.
Dell Inspiron 13 7000 :: Unable To Auto Rotate Screen When In Tablet Mode
Jan 12, 2015My Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop, after having the screen and hinges replaced due to other problems (ghost touches), now won't auto rotate the screen when in tablet mode. The keyboard is also functional when the screen is pushed back past 90 degrees, so when the keyboard is on my laptop but the screen is facing me. This doesn't happen in true tablet mode however.I've tried reinstalling all of the up-to-date drivers; chipset, BIOS, along with the ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver.
There are a number of issues I can highlight that stop this from working;
1) in device manager there is no entry for ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver, nor Accelerometer or anything I presume makes this function work. There is a Sensors collection, but nothing in there I think is it,. There is also no 'Unknown' device listed.
2) I should see PopUp_DM.exe in the running services and in the startup selection of programs. This is nowhere to be seen.
3) I don't appear to have a "Sensors" applet
4) when I choose 'Normal Startup' in msconfig & then reboot, it goes back to the bottom option, Selective startup. Is this something I need to do via the Dell BIOS Advanced Options?
Other than doing a full restore, which I loathe to do again as already prompted by Dell previous to this issue, what can I do? A bit worried that when Dell replaced my screen they didn't refit or include the accelerometer!

Whenever i go to sleep i just close my laptop , i dont shut it down and also i run at least 6 hours a day. Ive also heard that it might be the cooling fan that has dust in it, however im not sure. I want it to run smooth again . Ive reseted to factory setting twice and its still running slow.

Dec 31, 2014I've dell Inspiron N5110 and I'm using it since past 3 and half years. In 2013, base of the laptop was broken and I had to replace it with a new one though there was no problem in hardware at all. Soon after the dell representative installed the new base and left my house I was facing a weird problem. When I power on the laptop, my screen gives a mild flash but does not start (6 out of 10 times, not always), but I can hear windows start up sound in the back ground. I use to press power button again to lock or stand by the laptop and then move my mouse. After performing this I can see the screen glows and log on screen shows up.
I was using my laptop like this for past 1.5 years as pressing a power button was no big deal. Today on the eve of new year, I saw my trick does not work any more. I was not able to start my screen even after repetitive attempts. But I remember I used it last night, display was really fine.

Intially I had vertical lines down the screen - now there is nothing and computer gives 8 continues loud bleeps on start-up - there will be a slight pause then again 8 beeps. This is continuous until the laptop is shut down. I am happy to change the screen but before investing in a new one, whether this would be the correct way to go?
