When i turn my computer on the display shows nothing except a little of light blue ....before this happened i was checking some flash drive and checking what they had and safely removing them but on the 3 flash drive the screen started showing random colors all going horizontal like a rainbow ....so i got worry and immediately shut down the computer ...

I've spent 3 days and countless hours trying to find the solution to a black screen after attempting to update my daughter's Acer Aspire 5742Z from the bios it had to the latest bios available on the site (1.30). I ran the windows version from windows and I clicked thru the various dialogue windows appearing to be on its merry way. At one point, the screen went black and after about a half hour it stayed that way so I unplugged it b/c it wasn't responding to the power button nor the ctrl-alt-delete. I've tried using a usb stick formatted to both fat and fat32 containing the dos version of the bios files and the full contents from a windows 98 startup floppy disk i dusted off from retirement. I also tried a cdrw and cdr only containing the bios files. In all attempts, the hdd led and either the optical drive or usb stick led blinked a little before dying out and nothing more.

Same issue. If you use control panel to switch buttons then the only thing that happens is the cursor moves no click at all. Also after a period of time letting the computer warm up suddenly the cursor is working but even the left click will not function it will highlight the icon but not allow you to click it. I am wondering is the only solution to replace the motherboard since it appears to be a heat aggravated problem. And before I forget, yes I have replaced the drivers a couple of times clean install as well

I had to order a replacement screen to replace the original one which cracked after being stepped on by my boyfriend. The computer still worked then though if plugged in through an external monitor (like VGA or HDMI), but since I replaced the screen, even that won't work. I might have severely messed up by being impatient and forgetting to take the battery out before replacing screens. After I replaced them, realized my mistake, and took the battery out and put it back in again, it still wouldn't get past the problem: When I turn it on, charging or not, the power light and sleep mode light blink very slowly (blue), and the laptop beeps every ten seconds or so. The screen won't turn on at all either, even if plugged into an external source. I've tried it with and without the battery in and it hasn't turned on either. After further research of the problem, the most promising thing seemed to be reinstalling the BIOS (google "Acer Dead Screen Problem"), and I downloaded it off Acer's website and tried running it via flash drive as all the tutorials wanted me to. Nothing happened. The only difference from the tutorial is there's supposed to be an executable file with the BIOS download, but it wasn't in the folder.

I left it on sleep mode last night, once i opened it up today it was turned off. I figured it lost battery which usually doesn't happen, but I turned it on and it shows a blinking screen that comes on and then turns black, over and over. The blinking screen shows "press esc key for startup menu".
Also, the caps lock key blinks once when that screen comes on. View 3 Replies View Related My battery has not held more than about a 45-second charge since 2009; however, the AC adaptor seems to work fine, and the Power Management icon always tells me that I have a full (i.e., about 45-second) charge and that the AC adaptor is plugged in. Today, just after I disabled the Acer Tour Reminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, and Microsoft Office OneNote (because I never use them and I wanted a faster startup), I moved some program icons that I didn't need or that were already on my Quick Launch tool bar into the Recycle Bin. Suddenly, the notebook make sort of an electronic squeaking sound and immediately shut down--black screen; no lights.
I unplugged it, checked to ensure the battery was properly seated, felt to make sure it did not feel hot anywhere, plugged it in, saw that the lights were showing on the adaptor and on the front left edge of the notebook, turned it on, and selected normal start; it started up again. It ran for at least three minutes (which, because of the battery, it would not unless the AC adaptor was functioning) and then, after I moved a few more icons to the Recycle Bin, it suddenly shut down again in the same manner.
I started it again and it has now been running long enough for me to look up my Acer Forum registration information and update it after resetting my password. I am writing this on another notebook. The Acer is still running, but I want to ensure it doesn't shut down on me when I am in the middle of a project.
I have pavilion dv7, so far I had no problem. Now, when I login it logs in but then instead of showing me the home screen, it goes into blank black screen. It has just started to happen and I hope there is another way to make it work without rebooting the whole system.

I'm having a problem with my Acer Aspire One A150.
The system won't shut down, and just restarts if I try and turn it off.
I have to pull the battery out if I want it to turn off.
When I plug the battery in, it turns on straight away without me having to press the power button.
Also the system won't work off the Mains Power only (with battery removed).
If I plug just the power lead in, the power light flickers and the system keeps clicking until I unplug it again.
The system works with the power lead only if the battery is plugged in as well.
When I try to start my Aspire V3 nothing happens, but the light in the "start" gets on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe laptop was working fine last night. Today I turn it on but nothing happens. Ive tried turning it on with the AC and no battery and also with the battery by itself but no lights turn on - not even the charging battery light. The adapter is correctly plugged in. The battery was full last night, so you'd think that it would turn on when running the battery by itself.
Its about 1.5 years old so its out of warranty.
Ive tried holding the power button for 30 seconds and then waiting ~5 mintues and plugged the battery back in and nothing. I also did it again but tried with the adapter and still no luck.
What can I do to revive it?
Update:
Just wrapped the notebook inside a blanket and overheated it, then let it cool down.
Now it works.
All i have to do now is to remove the Nvidia gpu stuff left behind and it should be ready for use again.
