I have tried turning off computer and letting batteries charge, tried turning of and holding power button, this model has internal batteries, I don't want to open laptop and try disconnecting batteries.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is a tiny chance that this slight variation will work. Remove the battery and power cord, and hold the power button down for sixty seconds. Without turning it back on, re-install the battery and power cord and turn it on. If this doesn't work, then it is either a battery failure or a charger failure.

Laptop is about 2 yrs old. Running on the origninal Windows 8 that came with it. Had the same issue when it was first bought. Sent it in to Acer. Came back with no report/ details. Worked okay. Until recently.
Noticed that orange light comes on when it feels like charging and stops charging at 35%. Charging is a hit and miss thing, mostly miss.
Tried:
Sticking a pin in the "battery reset" hole on the back
Uninstalling the "Microsoft API" battery
Removing battery to see if it'll work without it (it has an internal battery)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an older Inspiron 6400 (looks like the 1505) that isn't charging the battery. The bios indicates that the battery is charging, and that it is performing normally. There isn't a red flashing battery indicator, but when the laptop is powered on there isn't any "green light" indication of the battery, either. The AC adapter performs normally ( Charger is a PA10 (90watt) and it works fine on my D800, and charges that battery normally).
What I don't understand is why the BIOS indicates the battery is charging and that the battery is performing normally. However, when I have the system up and running there isn't a green battery indicator light on the button strip. Let me clarify that statement. During the initial boot phase of start-up there is the green indicator light on the button strip, but as the OS finishes loading this light goes out and the battery doesn't charge.
Could this be caused by a faulty Bios update, or is it something with the battery charging circuit of the motherboard? The laptop operates normally when using the AC adapter, just no indication of the battery charging when the OS is fully loaded. OS is Windows XP Pro (SP3).
I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.

My battery has not held more than about a 45-second charge since 2009; however, the AC adaptor seems to work fine, and the Power Management icon always tells me that I have a full (i.e., about 45-second) charge and that the AC adaptor is plugged in. Today, just after I disabled the Acer Tour Reminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, and Microsoft Office OneNote (because I never use them and I wanted a faster startup), I moved some program icons that I didn't need or that were already on my Quick Launch tool bar into the Recycle Bin. Suddenly, the notebook make sort of an electronic squeaking sound and immediately shut down--black screen; no lights.
I unplugged it, checked to ensure the battery was properly seated, felt to make sure it did not feel hot anywhere, plugged it in, saw that the lights were showing on the adaptor and on the front left edge of the notebook, turned it on, and selected normal start; it started up again. It ran for at least three minutes (which, because of the battery, it would not unless the AC adaptor was functioning) and then, after I moved a few more icons to the Recycle Bin, it suddenly shut down again in the same manner.
I started it again and it has now been running long enough for me to look up my Acer Forum registration information and update it after resetting my password. I am writing this on another notebook. The Acer is still running, but I want to ensure it doesn't shut down on me when I am in the middle of a project.

My p500 shows that it is at 40% and that it IS charging (most of the other stops states that it isn't charging). It could be that windows thinks the battery is charging, but it obviously isnt because when I pull the power plug, the laptop immediatley shuts off. Obviously the battery doesn't have a charge.
I got the latest version of the lenovo energy manager, but that didn't do anything. Also, I don't recall the enery manager being there. I am almost certain that it was not there prior to windows 8.1 upgrade.
Device Manager shows all of the hardware with no missing drivers/unknown hardware.
I have been running the battery conditioner which is suppose to run the battery down and then charge it back up. That has been going on for a few hours and it is still at 40%, where it has been stuck from the start.

Does it have some sort of a cycle function where it waits until the battery is drained and then charges it back up? View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got an HP Compaq nw8240 and when I move the mouse over the battery icon it says Plugged In, Not Charging. It only shows a 40% charge too, and if I unplug the AC adapter the battery will drain and then recharge back to 40% again.
I'm running the latest version of Windows 7 also.
I've also tried updating the BIOS but when I download the file from HP's support site it and run it all it does is restart my computer and nothing changes.

However when I plug and unplug the power when the Ultrabook is off, the LED turns on and off accordingly.

I thought it was the battery, so I got a tested replacement battery. I still got the message, so I did that uninstall battery device manager solution, and didn't work.
