View 3 RepliesI have the same problem. I have an Inspiron 14z (N411z)
My battery light is flashing orange and the battery icon says that my charger is plugged in but not charging. So when I unplug my laptop it automatically dies. It's been like this for about a week and I've tried everything I found online including
Battery Health says 'System cannot communicate with battery'
Battery Status says ' Battery Charging disabled'
I tried to flash the BIOS by downloading the latest version, however it gives me an error message saying battery needs to be atleast 10% to flash BIOS. Or, it says 'Service already exists'
I bought the laptop in 2011 December, but didn't start using it until October 2012. The laptop is relatively new in terms of usage.
How can I disable battery charging of my lap top while the charger is plugged in ? (Dell XPS 15 haswell)...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just received my new XPS15 4 days ago, and when I first switched it on it was fine. After 2 day, with the charger plugged in. A message shown on setup screen saying "Charger is plugged in but not charging." I have checked the charger it is definitely a 130W charger, and the LED on the cable is on constant. After window started, same message shown up again. but the battery icon was shown charging, and the battery was showing 100%. So is this a software issue, or hardware? As I have seen may other user are experiencing the same problem.
I have checked the plug was connected correctly.
I've ran into a running issue where my computer's (Aspire E 15 or E5-511-P0GC) has a performance drop in CPU frequency only when I plug in my computer's given charger that came with my computer. I've already tried updating my BIOS to the newest version, performed computer resets and restarts, run anti-virus programs such as MalwareBytes and Avast, and checked my power settings (where everything was set on high performance no matter what).
I've recently bought the product about a month ago and have been trying to solve the problem for awhile now. What I've noticed occurs is a drop in CPU frequency from its typical 118% percent on high performance battery settings to a 22% still on the same high performance battery settings. I viewed this change in windows resource monitor when I unplug and plug in my charger. (btw, I own other laptops and none of them have the same problem)
Those who think its a intel speedstep process then why would my laptop perform worse when I plug it in when speedstep is suppose to do the opposite to preserve the batteries life span. Plus I can't find a way to disable speedstep if my laptop has it as my BIOS is basically locked and there are no advance settings.
OS on my system is Windows 8.1
I think it is quite a big problem for me. The message from the battery label is "plugged in, not charging" and if i unplug the charger, the computer shuts down immediately. while charging the light is red and sometimes blinks.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere is a tiny chance that this slight variation will work. Remove the battery and power cord, and hold the power button down for sixty seconds. Without turning it back on, re-install the battery and power cord and turn it on. If this doesn't work, then it is either a battery failure or a charger failure.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried turning off computer and letting batteries charge, tried turning of and holding power button, this model has internal batteries, I don't want to open laptop and try disconnecting batteries.

Laptop is about 2 yrs old. Running on the origninal Windows 8 that came with it. Had the same issue when it was first bought. Sent it in to Acer. Came back with no report/ details. Worked okay. Until recently.
Noticed that orange light comes on when it feels like charging and stops charging at 35%. Charging is a hit and miss thing, mostly miss.
Tried:
Sticking a pin in the "battery reset" hole on the back
Uninstalling the "Microsoft API" battery
Removing battery to see if it'll work without it (it has an internal battery)
I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.
I have just encountered a problem with my Inspiron 7520 laptop. The laptop is plugged in and notes 'charging'. Problem is that it is not charging and battery has been at 0% for a week now.
Battery meter notes the battery is charging and that the battery is working normally. I have run the 'My Dell' systems test and it failed on the battery with error code WBT02-GX1...
I've tried everything
The charger light still works (The blue ring)
[URL] downloaded the latest bios launcher but it is asking for minmum 10% battery but i have issue with charging and won't work
also i've ran the bois for it to say the ac adapter is [Uknown]
My Dell XPS M1530 just shut down on me. When I plug the charger into the laptop, the green light on the charger turns off, just like it wasn't plugged into the wall outlet.
I tried a second charger, and the light on that one just blinks in rapid succession. I've tried booting it up without the battery and with a replacement battery with the same results.
So now my laptop can't start up and I'm not sure what's going on.
I am having 15 R 5521 I plugged in my charger. But seems it was not working. There was no yellow indicator on charger. I ran the diagnostic run test. It showed me result as PASS all the test. On the same switch I plugged my mobile charger and the same was getting charged.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop charger suddenly stopped working. Last night it was still working perfectly normal. I tried using my friend's charger and it charges, so it's not the battery's problem. It's not the problem with 'Plugged in, Not charging' , but actually there is no response when I plug in the charger. Is it the software problem or is it the charger's problem? Is there a way to fix the charger?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI turn my laptop on and the screen is dim but I can see everything fine it works fine but then I plug in the power and the screen brightens up to normal then 3 seconds later it goes blank everythin in the back round is still running everything is fine but I can't do anything because the screen is blank. So I usually have to turn it off and let the battery charge all the way which it does and that works fine. So then I can start it up on the battery working fine but as soon as I go to charge it while its on the screen goes blank...
View 10 Replies View RelatedMonth ago x200 works well. I leave it on table for a mont and do not use it at all. But now, x200 turns on only with inserted AC adapter charger. It does not turn on with only inserted battery (without AC adapter charger), just nothing happend when I press power button.
But battery charges and program "Thinkpad Power Manager" detects battery and it's charge. Battery is ok (tested on another X200 and works well).

If anyone has the official charger can someone please tell me the part number that is on the charger.
I have a 4 Months old 2920Z laptop with Vista Home Permium. After 100% charged, After 1 or2 days in AC Power, Battery Meter shows "98% available, plugged in not charging". Even replaced the battery with a new one. Still the same problem. if I use the battery for a while less than 95% and if i plugged it in ac power it is charging and shows 100%, fully charged. After two days same problem.
So it is charging, but not holding the charge for some days. Battery replaced with a new one. Laptop is still under waranty.
I am getting 2 hour 20 minutes battery backup.
Would like to know root cause for this problem. Hardware or Vista. If Hardware battery of any other part?
I recently got the dreaded "Plugged in, not charging" message in vista of my Dell XPS 1530.My laptop is out of warranty .I tried all the methods suggested and flashed the bios to A09 from A12.I also checked the BIOS and it says
Battery Charge = 6%
Charger = 90W
Also when I connect the charger the charging light would flash for 5 sec. and then go off.Due to this the battery charge has moved from 6% to 7%.
I cannot buy a new mbd worth $500 . Any other cure for this ????
I own a dv5t. I am just noticing this now.
My battery will not charge. It says plugged in, not charging. The light by the plug in is lit up. I never had this problem before.
My Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook is plugged in but will not charge. The battery is completely drained and the power will immediately shut off when the power cable is unplugged. The battery meter indicates "O% Available (plugged in, not charging)". Every time I restart it I am told to plug in a Dell charger with 45 watts or greater. Thinking my charger might have been the issue, I just purchased a Dell replacement charger, and it is still not recognizing it. I have seen on other posts that indicate a possible solution is to update the BIOS; however, when I download and try to run the latest BIOS, I am told that the battery needs to be at least 10% charged in order to update.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy Dell XPS 15z is only ten months old while on my computer last night something popped up saying:
'The AC power adapter type cannot be determined.
Your system will operate slower and battery will not charge.
This problem might be solved by:
Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation. Connect a Dell 130W adapter or higher'
i've always taken really good care of my laptop never dropped it or anything i hope that its not broke...
if it is broken and i have my year warranty do i still pay for whatever new part i need?
I have a dell xps m1530. Yesterday, suddenly a problem developed. The laptop charges for a few secs and then the battery icon says plugged in, not charging. i have my computer (win 7) set to high performance. I also keep it plugged it but it hasnt been charging my battery, its down to 35%. Does it have some sort of a cycle function where it waits until the battery is drained and then charges it back up? I dont want it to do this because when i need to use it on the go i would like a full battery.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got an HP Compaq nw8240 and when I move the mouse over the battery icon it says Plugged In, Not Charging. It only shows a 40% charge too, and if I unplug the AC adapter the battery will drain and then recharge back to 40% again.
I'm running the latest version of Windows 7 also.
I've also tried updating the BIOS but when I download the file from HP's support site it and run it all it does is restart my computer and nothing changes.
i am using dell inspiron 15R 5521.. its warranty has just expired on november 3,2014. And now i am facing this charging problem as whenever i connect my charging adapter(charger) to my laptop, it says 'PLUGGED IN BUT NOT CHARGING'. whether i just keep my laptop on charging for an hour or two, it still remains the same and not even a single percent of battery is charged.!! Whether there is some problem with my battery or charger!! i should buy a new battery or not??
