Dell inspiron n5010 shows charging, but battery always empty, what is the reason behind this i put my laptop several time on charging but no solution.
View 4 RepliesI have an older Inspiron 6400 (looks like the 1505) that isn't charging the battery. The bios indicates that the battery is charging, and that it is performing normally. There isn't a red flashing battery indicator, but when the laptop is powered on there isn't any "green light" indication of the battery, either. The AC adapter performs normally ( Charger is a PA10 (90watt) and it works fine on my D800, and charges that battery normally).
What I don't understand is why the BIOS indicates the battery is charging and that the battery is performing normally. However, when I have the system up and running there isn't a green battery indicator light on the button strip. Let me clarify that statement. During the initial boot phase of start-up there is the green indicator light on the button strip, but as the OS finishes loading this light goes out and the battery doesn't charge.
Could this be caused by a faulty Bios update, or is it something with the battery charging circuit of the motherboard? The laptop operates normally when using the AC adapter, just no indication of the battery charging when the OS is fully loaded. OS is Windows XP Pro (SP3).
I recently updated bios from dell. after some days, my dell 65w- ac adopter is not recognised by laptop. my laptop is inspiron n5010. i saw posts given by you about bios. and i try to install bios again but it is not istalling t as it is all readyexisted version.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently run into a problem, when I wanted to install my ANNO 1404 game, I inserted the disc into my laptop, but it shows no data, it simply looks to be empty. So I tried it in my desktop PC and there there is everything OK, disc is full, game can be installed. I left it be and after few days I wanted to see a movie, but after inserting the movie DVD into my laptop, I received this error in WMP: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. In some cases, you can resolve the problem by updating the device driver for your video card." So I'm starting to think my DVD driver is somehow "wrongly set" or something like that. What can I do about it?
My OS is W7 Professional (on desktop too, so OS is not the issue), my laptop is Inspiron 15R SE 7520. Both DVDs (game and movie) are original, no stealing here.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy p500 shows that it is at 40% and that it IS charging (most of the other stops states that it isn't charging). It could be that windows thinks the battery is charging, but it obviously isnt because when I pull the power plug, the laptop immediatley shuts off. Obviously the battery doesn't have a charge.
I got the latest version of the lenovo energy manager, but that didn't do anything. Also, I don't recall the enery manager being there. I am almost certain that it was not there prior to windows 8.1 upgrade.
Device Manager shows all of the hardware with no missing drivers/unknown hardware.
I have been running the battery conditioner which is suppose to run the battery down and then charge it back up. That has been going on for a few hours and it is still at 40%, where it has been stuck from the start.
I have tried turning off computer and letting batteries charge, tried turning of and holding power button, this model has internal batteries, I don't want to open laptop and try disconnecting batteries.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I've had a dead battery on my Inspiron N5010 that would not hold a charge. I also noticed that when i plug in the Dell 65W AC adapter that came with my computer without the battery (as a temporary power source) and the light on the AC Adapter shut off. I've used other dell AC adapters and the same thing happens (AC adapter light cut off). Identifying these problems, I purchased a new battery and the battery worked perfectly fine but when i plug in the AC Adapter, the AC Adapter light would cut off and would not charge the battery. I figured it was a Mobo issue but discovered that the I/O ports for the AC Adapter are on the daughterboard. I purchased and replaced the daughterboard. I plugged in the AC Adapter and now the light on the Adapter stays on. The adapter can now be used with or without the battery but it will not charger the battery. Every time I turn on my Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop, I get the following message:
"The AC adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or greater for the best system performance."
- I replaced the I/O circuit board (daughter board)
- I Flashed the BIOS
- I Installed Dell QuickSet
- I am using the 65W Dell AC adapter that came with the laptop
- The AC adapter that came with my N5010 works on other Dell laptops
- I've used a different 65W Dell AC Adapter.
- The adapter is not charging the battery (Plugged in but not charging)
- The green light on the adapter stays on all the time when in use
Inside of the BIOS the AC Adapter Type is "Unknown". what else do you recommend I do?
I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.
My Dell inspiron 6400 has a battery that works amazingly but recently, I noticed a change in the behaviour. Anytime I switch the laptop on, the LED battery indicator shows me red meaning something is wrong even when the battery is fully charged. The battery charges normally even when I intentionally drain out the power and try charging it again. This is just to make sure that the battery charges fine. Infact, in windows, it shows me that the computer is on AC power even when it is not plugged into an AC outlet.
The BIOS shows "No battery installed" and windows tells me the same. Summarily, everything is fine except for the LED indicator showing Red and the BIOS telling me that no battery is installed.
I am using Dell Inspiron n5010 recent days my laptop turn's off itself when it reaches 45% of battery ....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a N5010 Inspiron. My battery has been down to a few minutes for a yr or two. I keep my laptop plugged in always unless traveling.
Today, my battery light started flashing. Amber for times then white then repeats. Since I was plugged in I was perplexed. I looked on my screen and it showed 100 percent battery meaning I am plugged in.
Then I turned my computer completely off. THE LIGHT KEPT FLASHING. Now it is getting spooky. I unplug the power supply from the back of the computer and the light went off.
Hours later I plugged everything back in. Started the computer and the light started again. Since it is no warning for anything other than the battery,
I tried unplugging while computer was on. Still flashing.
I turned off. Took battery out and put back in. Still Flashing.
While off AND battery out I plugged in and no flashing
Put batter back in....plugged in and flashing resumed.
So for now I am trying to ignore it....
My 8 month old "Mini 9" Inspiron 910 shows "operating system not found" on boot-up and bios shows HDD size of 0MB. Fixed shows STEC PATA 16GB-(PM).
I realize re-installing XP is my next bet but I can't boot to USB. maybe the Solid State HD DEAD?
I recently purchased DELL N5010 INSPIRON, but now it give one problem. It is not run without AC power. and when i point the battery through mouse it show

I just bought a new battery (90 Whr) for my Dell Inspiron N5010 as the original one had reached the end of it's life. I put the new battery in, charged it fully, and when I turned my laptop on the window colors were changed to blue and when I go into the personalization screen it won't let me change back to the settings I had before. Also I used to be able to preview the windows I had open by hovering over the icon in the task bar now it just shows a blue bar with the page title and when I hover over it nothing happens. I hover over the right side of the task bar to show desktop and nothing happens. What I wan't to know is how come the battery changed all this and how do I get things back the way I had them?

Dell Diagnostic has found no problem,I've had trouble getting a hold of customer service. has been to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Complian Control Method Battery driver, which I have done.The only thing I haven't messed with is the battery itself, which doesn't seem to be accessible without damaging the back, which is screwed on and secured well.

I have N5110 laptop and machine does not start with battery plugged in.
I have to perform following steps to boot the system:
remove the battery,
drain the charge by holding start button for few seconds
then boot the system.
If I insert battery after system is up, it says battery strength as "0% available".
I am not even able to flash the BIOS as it needs minimum 10% battery to be available.
I bought a Inspiron 1525 in March 2008. As of today the battery is not charging. I called Dell and they told me that I needed a new battery. After spending nearly $135 for a new battery, I am still having the same issue. Unfortunately my laptop is out of warranty. I have read the various forums on here to find a solution, but still nothing. It seems this is a pretty regular issue with the Inspiron 1525 and other Dell laptops. I've updated the BIOS, I blew into both recepticals, and yes, even tried a new battery.
