Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S Series :: How To Know S1 Battery Fully Charged When Powered Off
Jul 24, 2014Is there a way to find this out WITHOUT turning on the computer?

View 3 RepliesMy 2 day old Lenovo Y510P laptop has a problem with charging. I noticed the battery was never going above 60% charged. I left it plugged in for over 24 hours and nothing changed. So I decided to completely drain the battery and used the laptop until it died. With the laptop off I left it plugged in until the battery LED turned white which indicates the battery is fully charged. Unfortunately the battery still shows 60% charged.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy battery (FRU: 42t4957) is stuck at 2% and refuses to charge:
I kept it at 40-50% most of the time by changing battery threshold. Total cycle count was about 80 (84 now) first use date 2013-03.
On Saturday I tried to run a "discharge-charge-discharge-charge" cycle (by watching some movies) to reset the gauge of my battery. During 2nd discharge my laptop hibernated due to low charge much earlier than expected, when I turned it on it showed that the max capacity is 28 Wh and the battery is in the "poor" condition.
I tried to perform automatic gauge reset but didn't get much (29 Wh). I updated power manager and performed another automatic reset which failed too.
So I tried to make a manual reset and left my laptop paying a movie for a night. On Monday I plugged my AC adapter in but found out that the battery won't charge: "a battery error has occurred the battery cannot be charged".
I cleared residual capacitance by pushing the power button several times and reset the BIOS to defaults but got nothing.
If this problem can't be sold I would like to know the reason of it to avoid such things in the future. While googling this forum I met contradictory opinions on battery reset: ones say that it's extremely harmful because battery "doesn't like" to be discharged to 0%, others say its harmless.
I have been using my laptop at home for the past 6 months for most of the time. When I am running the computer I have it charged with the Optimised Battery Health option, so, less than 60% is charged all the time, and I have never removed the adapter if I am using it. But, when I went to sleep I removed the adapter from the laptop.
What happened: Today finally I am taking it out for a breath and it lasts for only an hour!!!!
What was on: I was using it to do some research online only. So technically only wifi was on - not even bluetooth or video or music play. I only ran Chrome, a dictionary software, and my Dropbox. Well, I actually turned the screen into very bright, which was full brightness minus two presses of F11 (to decrease the brightness).
Would it be a cause of upgrading to WINDOWS 8.1?! (like upgrade to iOS 7 on an Apple phone: running latest iOS consumes lots more battery capacity in older iPhone..)
i accidently stored a fully charged battery for almost 3 weeks, but yesterday when i attached it to my laptop, my laptop wont turn on. it is as if it cant supply power. i attached the ac cord to see if it was discharged but it wasnt, even windows recognizes it as fully charged. but again the battery cannot supply power to the laptop
is there anyway to save my battery or do i have to buy a new one
Should i keep charging my MBP while it's fully charged? Or i should unplug the ac power and wait until the power ran out then charge again?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is Dell ultrabook XPS 13. I've been used it for about 6 months. I don't know when it started to be like this but I've just noticed recently that the battery shown on desktop is never full charged even when it's plugged in for long hours. Last week it's at 41-42% at maximum but now it never reached more than 39% and it seems to be less and less even though I keep it plugged in every time I use it. I'm worried there's something wrong with battery but it said my battery is still fine, but obviously it's not fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a D510 battery that according to the laptop LED is fully charged however upon booting into windows the battery power indicator and the dell quickset indicator show only 84%i have also let the laptop charge the battery while in windows however even when the charge indicator on the laptop is off and the indicator in the taskbar shows running of the mains the charge is again 84%i have tested the battery health using the inbuilt indicator and it is OK, it is only 12 months old but i am aware that degridation takes place, but could this just be a case of windows not reporting the charge correctly and its nothing to worry aboutthe battery lasts between 2-3 hours on average id say thats goodupdated the battery seems to be stuck charging at 88% is that a sign of simple wear and tear?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new Flex 14. When I turn it on, I frequently get the following message "The battery is charged to a high capacity. Staying above 70% of capacity for a long period of time is adverse to the battery health. Enable 'Conservation Mode' in Settings." I can not find "Conservation Mode" in "Settings." ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe battery icon in Windows 8 just started saying "No battery is detected".
The system seems to run fine on the battery. I tried rebooting, but that did not change anything.
When plugged in, the icon shows that it is plugged in, but still says "No battery is detected".
It does not look like I can remove and replace the battery without taking things apart.
I am having a message that says "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message that appears after Windows 8.1 starts up. A similar sort of message appears before even Windows boots up, and I need to press the 'Esc' key in order for Windows to boot. This seems to have happened after a recent Windows update. I have uninstalled an reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver but it does not appear to have fixed the issue. My BIOS is the latest version.
This issue is on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1.
I have a Thinkpad Twist and after updating the Lenovo Settings Dependency Package to 1.3.0.24, I no longer have the 'Automatically optimize for battery life' option in the Lenovo Settings app, i.e., the battery is always fully charged.
I would like to use the battery optimization option, how do I get this function back?
I bought a new Lenovo Z580 this past June. Shortly after I began using it, a system message popped up explaining to me that since I often have my laptop plugged in, it would conserve battery life if I let the system change my settings so that the battery didn't fully charge -- this would save battery life over the longterm and I would be free to change the setting whenever I wanted to. Well, this has been the biggest mistake ever. I now essentially have a desktop because I cannot find any setting that allows me to change the battery to fully charge (it only charges to 40 or 50%). There isn't any mention of this feature in the user guide materials that I can find and none of the Power Options allow me to change the battery charge capacity.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got the 12inch thinkpad yoga. The left shift key works intermittently. This started happening to me a couple of weeks ago (I've had the computer since December and haven't noticed a problem. I sent it in twice and supposedly, they replaced the whole machine this last time, but I'm still having the problem. Could this be a fault in this model in general?

The label on the charger says:
MODEL 45N0261
FRU P/N 45N0262
Lenovo P/N 36200253
It was advertised as X1 charger, but when it arrived I thought it's too small in size, so I googled it. Having done that, I've realised it's actually being sold by Lenovo as a charger for Yoga.
Am I safe to use this charger for my ThinkPad X1 Carbon (3460-CLG)?
is there any possibility to make boot from SD Card on Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga?
I have live linux image, but there are no optical drive on system, so I would be glad to use the SD Card slot. When start with boot selection, there no SD Card slot listed even if I have the bootable SD Card inserted into. On other system the same card booting properly.
Are there some bois settings to allow booting from SD Card slot, so it will be included in boot device list? The same system boot from USB, but USB consume one USB port, so the SD Card is more preferable option.
Is there a possibility of installing a 3G/LTE module on the Thinkpad Yoga? To my understanding there is an m.sata slot on the Yoga that allows for us to put extra SSD hard drives on it. Is it possible to replace it?
If not, are there other methods other than using usb-dongles or hotspots?
I would upgrade the ram from 8 to 16 gb.
My pc is ThinkPad s430, model 33643DG, manufacturer code N3BDIX. Core i7-3520M, chipset HM77 Express, OS windows7 PRO.
I want to upgrade with Kingston Hyperx KHX16S9P1K2 /16, but I would like to know if any user has already tried these ram.
two days ago my Lenovo Twist S230u laptop started to freeze a lot, especially when I tried to multitask (like switching to a separate window). It probably took ten minutes each time for the computer to unfreeze and continue.
the in-built 'Lenovo Solutin Center' software ran an automatic diagnostic test, and said that the laptop failed the SMART short-self test (unfortunately I forgot to copy the error code). I didn't think much of it at the time since my laptop is only 5-months old. Just in case, I performed a disk cleanup, disk defrag and made sure everything is up to date. This was when the laptop began to freeze quite a lot. In desperation (and stupidity), I typed the chkdsk /r command in command prompt and asked it to run at reboot. Apparently the SMART short self test is a physical problem rather than a software problem, so obviously chkdsk won't work.
chkdsk ran for about two days now which is clearly too long for a 500gb HDD laptop. I've only used about half of this space too. I forced a shut down and now I cannot access Windows 8.1 through the boot menu (it just hangs on a black screen). Loading a rebootable USB recovery drive is not doing anything too.
I previously sought support on the Microsoft Answers website. They said that my 'hard disk is failing' and I will need to have my HDD replaced.I just want a second opinion here. Is warranty valid under this circumstance? From what I remember, 'Lenovo Solution Center' said I still had a few hundred days of warranty left on the machine.
I have a problem we need to fix because it shutdowns production. The Up and Left Navigation keys, and the Del Keys (Ent in German) do not work properly. We have press for about 5 long seconds to make them work. All stuffn Ease of Access,Keyboard is turned off and does not solve the solution.
Problem exists on IE, Word, Excel.

Some texts look blurry on some windows. I have attached a picture to show you what I mean. If you see "Device Manager" window, the text is blurry. On the other "System" window, the text is just fine.

I have S430, bios 2.58 I decided to upgrade my HDD to SSD and install clean Windows on it.
I've downloaded Windows 7 ISO from [URL] ....
Then I have loaded it into Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool
Prepared with that app bootable DVD and flash
First I tryied to install Windows from usb, installer runs and asked me for CDDVD drivers. I sat up USB3.0 to disabled, then in browser window I can see my flash, but the message about drivers remains..
Also I copyed USB3 driver from [URL] ... to another flash and tryed to give them instead of CD-DVD drivers, but they are shown as "not compatible"
Next i tryied with DVD, but I can't even load installer - DVD begin to roll, but then shows me "choose boot device" dialog. Secure boot is OFF, UEFI tryied both Legacy Only and UEFI only....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this laptop for 7 months now, but since about 4 weeks ago when i click on shutdown i realised that it looked like it was shutting down... and 30 seconds later would fire up again. At first i thought it was me clicking the wrong button, but it has happened daily now. Only way to shut it down is my removing the power cable and then shutting down.
View 6 Replies View RelatedS440. I prefer to use the function keys F1-F12 without using the Fn key. It seems like in other models there is an option in the BIOS to change this, but not on my machine. Also the Lenovo software nor Windows configuration seems to be able to change this. Is there anyway to do this?
