I have a Thinkpad Twist and after updating the Lenovo Settings Dependency Package to 1.3.0.24, I no longer have the 'Automatically optimize for battery life' option in the Lenovo Settings app, i.e., the battery is always fully charged.
I would like to use the battery optimization option, how do I get this function back?
My current x230 is set to "Automatically optimize for battery lifespan" under battery maintenance. I read that for this settings, it'll set your battery to hover around 80%~ base on Lenovo forum under w530 section. However, i'm always seeing my battery at 100% when AC is plugged in; Remaining capacity: 62.47 wh ; Full charge capacity: 62.47wh. Is it suppose to be lesser? I suppose it not healthy for the battery to be constantly kept at 100%. Any x230 users experiencing this too?
Would like my battery to last at least 2 years. usage :70% AC plugged in,30% on the go.

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon type 3443-CTO. The Wi-Fi adapter -- never the stablest thing on earth -- is getting flakier and flakier. I am constantly having to reset or disable/re-enable it. The "connect automatically" settings for some of my existing Wi-Fi routers do not appear, so that I have to connect manually every time.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X40 - 2371 that I would like to reset to its original Factory Settings. It does not have a CD-ROM drive so I can not use a Recovery CD. Its operating system is Windows XP Professional. I have tried to use the "Access IBM" and the "F11" buttons to see if I can find any Factory Restore option, but there is none.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just flashed BIOS on my thinkpad yoga 20CD00B1US. I got the lates BIOS 1.18/1,09 and sice this flash, I cannot make any changes in BIOS. I can list in BIOS but cannot highlite and change any setting expect quick boot Enabled/Disabled
My even manager is reporting me this warrining: : The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS.
I do have set up supervisor password for BIOS, password on power on. When going in BIOS, I am not asked to put password in, which could be the issue.
Since I'm using LAN internet, My X1 Carbon is always connected to ThinkPad Dock at home use. In addition to connect the internet, the Dock is always charging my battery. AFAIK, the battery life will be shorten if it's always charged/plugged. Its better to work on battery after 100% charged and return to charge if asked to.
I just worried, is connecting to ThinkPad Dock after 100% fully charged can shorten X1 Battery Life?
The battery icon in Windows 8 just started saying "No battery is detected".
The system seems to run fine on the battery. I tried rebooting, but that did not change anything.
When plugged in, the icon shows that it is plugged in, but still says "No battery is detected".
It does not look like I can remove and replace the battery without taking things apart.
Is there a way to find this out WITHOUT turning on the computer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a message that says "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message that appears after Windows 8.1 starts up. A similar sort of message appears before even Windows boots up, and I need to press the 'Esc' key in order for Windows to boot. This seems to have happened after a recent Windows update. I have uninstalled an reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver but it does not appear to have fixed the issue. My BIOS is the latest version.
This issue is on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1.
On my old W520, it had a setting for making the battery last as long as possible. E.g. it didnt charge it to 100%.In my W530, which has windows 8, I can find no such option. In fact, all the Lenovo tools which came with the W520 dont seem to exist on the W530 (eiter because they dont have them for Windows 8, or they dont have them for the W530, dont know which).
The only lenovo tools I have are th "solution senter" from red icon in the task bar (which has a battery icon, but the only thing it does is say "batter is in good condition", there are no options or settings, and the thinkVantage button, which just brings up somehting like some shortcuts to control panel items - no Lenovo tools (just things like update drivers, warranty infomration, keyboard settings etc).
In the wiondows control panel itslef, are just: lenovo system healthlenovo update drivers 32bit (I never use this as I have 64 bit)Lenovo airbag protectionLenovo microphone muteIn control panel -> Power options is nothing Lenovo specific, and no lifespan mode, it only allows you to set when windows switches stuff off.
What happened to all the tools which came with windows 7, including the thing which told you how fast the processor was running, the thing to change your printer etc. with different locations?
I know the usual drill, disable bluetooth, reduce brightness and etc.. but since i bought my mac (October) my battery life have decreased from 4:30 hours to about over 3 hours. Does anyone have anytips? Use black wallpapers? Use safari instead of firefox? View 5 Replies View RelatedMy x220 is driving me crazy these days. Some days ago I experienced very strange behavior of my system. I was just using the notebook as always as it started to stutter.
With stuttering I mean everything is working for 1-2 seconds then is stuck for 1-2 seconds, working, stuck, working so on so forth.
With everything I mean the mouse movement, hard disk load, graphics movement, audio, everything simultaneously. This problem does show up not only if Windows is up but also when Windows is booting or if I start a live linux distribution.
I also noticed that sometimes when I'm moving around the ultranav trackpoint the cursor jumps to one display edge and opens a context window as if I had pressed the right mouse button.
What I did so far:
Reboot my system several times.
Checked Task-Manager: nothing out of the ordinary
Reset BIOS to factory settings
Updated everything to newest stuff
Started a live Linux distribution instead of Windows 7
Decrypted my system (TrueCrypt)
Deactivated Power Management/SpeedStep via BIOS settings
Switched to Single-Core processing via BIOS settings
Swapping RAM from 2x8GB CORSAIR to 2x4GB KINGSTON
Swapped SSD with original HDD
Try booting windows in safe mode
I'm almost at a point to say this can't be a software issue and that it is something mainboard/CPU/GPU related, but I want to be certain before contacting the support.
Another thing I noticed: The stuttering starts exactly when the windows logo shows up and the screen automatically dimmes itself while starting windows. Something is happening in that moment. I may need to add that I did not install anything prior to the current situation. That does support the hardware relation.

My IT dept made some changes to my W530 and now fastboot is not using SSD drive of (16G).I'm planning on using the "Restore" option found under My computer. If I select this option, I pressume all the factory default programs will install and wipe out the rest of the drive correct? If I do this will my fastboot be enabled once again?

These laptops came with Windows 7 and we used the Lenovo media to install Windows 8. The ability to change the password was present right after the Windows 8 install but when we upgrade to Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft store we can no longer change the password.

I use a few SSDs in the ultrabay and used to swap through them by just ejecting the one currently in use and plugging in another one. However, since Wondows 8.1 update I haven.t been able to do so, as I have to turn off the machine and change the drives.
I believe it has something to do with the OS set up. How to enable the hot swapping capability of the ultrabay?
W540 20BG001CGE, had BIOS 1.05 and RAID 1 with two Samsung 840 EVO 1TB working fine under Windows 7 - x64. Did a (by lenovo update tool recommended) BIOS Update with the bios update manager to 2.05. Update ran fine. After Rebooting (and loading defaults, disabling Intel Rapid Start, Changing BIOS boot option to legacy first ... I recognized SATA Option (AHCI or RAID) in BIOS is gone. At boot Intel Matrix Storage Configuration doesnot appear anymore (where you can build RAID etc).
Boot then brings up message "missing operating system".
Downgrade to BIOS 1.05 impossible, due to ISO File on www.lenovo.com support is not system compatible, message "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk; Replace te disk, and then press any key")

Also the downgrade to BIOS version 1.08 found here [URL] .... does not work, CD also messages "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk - Replace ...").
Rewriting BIOS version 2.05 (GNET57WW) does not work (says "BIOS update not necessary").

i can't boot on an USB key, the secure boot is desabled and when i press enter to boot on the USB key nothing happen. I had tested with 3 different usb key and 2 different OS. And it work on other laptop i have a lenovo twist... i think its in the BIOS but i had check all options

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought Z500 last week and I am facing problem with the battery life. I charged the laptop for 12 hr for the first time. The battery discharges within 2 hr every time. I just browse internet or watch movies and the battery life is far below the expectation.
There are two power plans - Balanced and Power saver and I do not see any difference in either. What is wrong with my laptop battery.
I've got the 12inch thinkpad yoga. The left shift key works intermittently. This started happening to me a couple of weeks ago (I've had the computer since December and haven't noticed a problem. I sent it in twice and supposedly, they replaced the whole machine this last time, but I'm still having the problem. Could this be a fault in this model in general?

It was advertised as X1 charger, but when it arrived I thought it's too small in size, so I googled it. Having done that, I've realised it's actually being sold by Lenovo as a charger for Yoga.
Am I safe to use this charger for my ThinkPad X1 Carbon (3460-CLG)?
is there any possibility to make boot from SD Card on Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga?
I have live linux image, but there are no optical drive on system, so I would be glad to use the SD Card slot. When start with boot selection, there no SD Card slot listed even if I have the bootable SD Card inserted into. On other system the same card booting properly.
Are there some bois settings to allow booting from SD Card slot, so it will be included in boot device list? The same system boot from USB, but USB consume one USB port, so the SD Card is more preferable option.
Is there a possibility of installing a 3G/LTE module on the Thinkpad Yoga? To my understanding there is an m.sata slot on the Yoga that allows for us to put extra SSD hard drives on it. Is it possible to replace it?
If not, are there other methods other than using usb-dongles or hotspots?
I was able to launch the adaptive keyboard settings by pressing the 'wheel' button on the bar.
I updated the newest version of the keyboard settings (Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad).
After installation. I could not use the functionality to switch through the different functions. I learned on this forum it had to do with the power management software. So I downloaded this.
De-installed the adaptive keyboard settings. Installed it again with latest version.
Now it works again, but now I can not launch the settings anymore. Not via the wheel button on the adaptive keyboard (most right button with the F1, F1 functions). Also not able to launch it directly from the control panel. Link is there, but there is no reaction.
So now I am not able to customize the settings anymore.
My friend and I both own Y510p laptops, but for some reason his battery will last an entire game of use and (very) light gaming, e.g. Binding of Isaac. However, mine only lasts about three hours on the Power Saver setting. I've even removed my SLI GPU to test it and un-overclocked my CPU/GPU.
