I updated the newest version of the keyboard settings (Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad).
After installation. I could not use the functionality to switch through the different functions. I learned on this forum it had to do with the power management software. So I downloaded this.
De-installed the adaptive keyboard settings. Installed it again with latest version.
Now it works again, but now I can not launch the settings anymore. Not via the wheel button on the adaptive keyboard (most right button with the F1, F1 functions). Also not able to launch it directly from the control panel. Link is there, but there is no reaction.
So now I am not able to customize the settings anymore.
I just flashed BIOS on my thinkpad yoga 20CD00B1US. I got the lates BIOS 1.18/1,09 and sice this flash, I cannot make any changes in BIOS. I can list in BIOS but cannot highlite and change any setting expect quick boot Enabled/Disabled
My even manager is reporting me this warrining: : The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS.
I do have set up supervisor password for BIOS, password on power on. When going in BIOS, I am not asked to put password in, which could be the issue.
In the process of setting up my new X1, when I try to configure the cloud settings for adaptive keyboard, it states that there are no supported cloud applications installed.
I have the new OneDrive app installed. How to get this setup working? I'm thinking that with the name change from skydrive to onedrive that the settings are confused.
I'm running factory installed Win7-64.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X40 - 2371 that I would like to reset to its original Factory Settings. It does not have a CD-ROM drive so I can not use a Recovery CD. Its operating system is Windows XP Professional. I have tried to use the "Access IBM" and the "F11" buttons to see if I can find any Factory Restore option, but there is none.

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon type 3443-CTO. The Wi-Fi adapter -- never the stablest thing on earth -- is getting flakier and flakier. I am constantly having to reset or disable/re-enable it. The "connect automatically" settings for some of my existing Wi-Fi routers do not appear, so that I have to connect manually every time.
Where would one look in the registry to change the default adaptive keyboard setting?
What I am trying to achieve is the following:
- Enable F keys as default setting
- Disable application switching of toolbar
We will need to do this on a large number of laptops, and it's not really viable to do it via the application (as it will be time consuming). I hope to deploy the settings as a batch file which imports a registry entry.
When I've got my ThinkPad w530, there was (as usually at every ThinkPad laptop) UltaNav enhanced setting dialog (if I remember correctly, these settings resided at the last tab of OS mouse settings dialog - Control Panel -> Mouse). I have spent a lot of time to configure touchpad according to my needs.
But than I've updated my Windows 7 x64, as Microsoft recommended, and installed some hardware drivers and user applications... And at some moment I've suddenly discovered, that the touchpad and the stickpoint do not work anymore the way I've configured them. Yes, they work, but in the most basic default mode.
Furthermore, when I tried to look at the configuration dialog I had used before to configure them, I found, that this settings dialog is totally gone.
Now my Windows Control Panel mouse setting menu looks as the following screenshot: [URL] ....
Is there any way to restore (re-activate) manually Lenovo UltraNav settings dialog for the touchpad and the stickpoint?
I dont know why this is happening but I have tried everything - installed the power management driver, the solutions center but since I received this laptop, the settings window for apaptive keyboard never opens. Ive tried it through the control panel and also the keyboard strip but nothing works. I have updated the laptop to latest config but that also dint work. Without the settings window, i cant disable the dynamic feature which creates so many issues with unnecessary key presses.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my old W520, it had a setting for making the battery last as long as possible. E.g. it didnt charge it to 100%.In my W530, which has windows 8, I can find no such option. In fact, all the Lenovo tools which came with the W520 dont seem to exist on the W530 (eiter because they dont have them for Windows 8, or they dont have them for the W530, dont know which).
The only lenovo tools I have are th "solution senter" from red icon in the task bar (which has a battery icon, but the only thing it does is say "batter is in good condition", there are no options or settings, and the thinkVantage button, which just brings up somehting like some shortcuts to control panel items - no Lenovo tools (just things like update drivers, warranty infomration, keyboard settings etc).

What happened to all the tools which came with windows 7, including the thing which told you how fast the processor was running, the thing to change your printer etc. with different locations?
I have a Thinkpad Twist and after updating the Lenovo Settings Dependency Package to 1.3.0.24, I no longer have the 'Automatically optimize for battery life' option in the Lenovo Settings app, i.e., the battery is always fully charged.
I would like to use the battery optimization option, how do I get this function back?
I have a thinkpad W500 and I'm reinstalling Windows 7 after years of running linux (I got tired of my video drivers being unsupported due to the age of the card). However, when I attempt to install system update, I get the message "an error occured while gathering user information" and I cannot continue. How can I get the switchable graphics, power, and keyboard drivers properly installed? I don't really care about the rest of the software, it just that system update is the only way I know of to get it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to update the BIOS on the Thinkpad listed below.I have tried to run Boot CD version of the update program (using CD player in dock) and it reports the error:"The system program file is not correct for this system"..The Windows based BIOS update program reports the error (in or out of dock):
"The process does not recognize this system. The process has been cancelled"..The Lenovo support page lists the new BIOS as being appropriate for this model. I just updated my ThinkPad W520 using the System Update utility and after rebooting I realize that the battery icon is totally gray and shows the message "Battery not installed". Checking the installations log of System Update I see
-Lenovo Power Management Driver 1.67.04.05

And the Windows battery icon shows the info correctly. Is there any way to uninstall the updates?
I recently upgraded my ThinkPad W530 laptop BIOS from version 1.11 (which it shipped with) to the latest, version 2.59.
After doing so, my two 16 GB DIMMS are not only showing up as 8 GB each, thereby cutting my usable memory in half from 32 GB to 16 GB.
I ran through all the normal hardware checks to ensure that one of the DIMMS wasn't bad. I tried each DIMM separately, tried in different slots, etc. They both show up just fine and even pass the memory quick test in the BIOS. Only, they are showing up as 8 GB DIMMs.
Is there a feature in the latest BIOS that would somehow limit this? It was working fine at 32 GB before.
And, unfortunately, there is no reverting back to BIOS v.1.11 from anything after v.2.55. It asked me if I was sure I wanted to proceed...this was the last type of problem I expected to see though. (I also tried reverting back to previous versions of the BIOS that were allowed and it didn't work...
After updating to brand new BIOS from Jan. 19th I cannot boot anymore into Windows 8.1 - always get INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. Tried to repair using a Windows 8.1 USB Stick, no success. Even downgrading to 1.08 did not work as well!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI got a thinkpad w530 with Windowd 8 from the factory and its ultrabay worked really well. I use a few SSDs in the ultrabay and used to swap through them by just ejecting the one currently in use and plugging in another one. However, since Wondows 8.1 update I haven.t been able to do so, as I have to turn off the machine and change the drives.
I believe it has something to do with the OS set up. How to enable the hot swapping capability of the ultrabay?
W540 20BG001CGE, had BIOS 1.05 and RAID 1 with two Samsung 840 EVO 1TB working fine under Windows 7 - x64. Did a (by lenovo update tool recommended) BIOS Update with the bios update manager to 2.05. Update ran fine. After Rebooting (and loading defaults, disabling Intel Rapid Start, Changing BIOS boot option to legacy first ... I recognized SATA Option (AHCI or RAID) in BIOS is gone. At boot Intel Matrix Storage Configuration doesnot appear anymore (where you can build RAID etc).
Boot then brings up message "missing operating system".
Downgrade to BIOS 1.05 impossible, due to ISO File on www.lenovo.com support is not system compatible, message "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk; Replace te disk, and then press any key")
(The link to the ISO File version 1.05 at the bottom of this page links a non bootable ISO image [URL]....)
Also the downgrade to BIOS version 1.08 found here [URL] .... does not work, CD also messages "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk - Replace ...").
Rewriting BIOS version 2.05 (GNET57WW) does not work (says "BIOS update not necessary").

It's been a yeah that i work on this X1 Carbon laptop and no default. I got a windows update yesterday, i did it and my computer powered off naturally. This morning, i cant start it, It boot well, Lenovo sign appear but nothing after. only black screen with blinking underscore.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an S440. I've had it for one week. Two days ago I downloaded the Windows 8.1 update from the store. Since then, when I start up the computer, it doesn't even taken me to the 'sign in' screen. There's just a black screen. When I move the cursor, it briefly appears, flickers, then disappears again.
I understand this is an issue with the graphics drivers. So I ran Windows in safemode and disabled Intel R HD Graphics family and AMD Radeon HD 8600 series graphics drivers.
This, unfortunately, hasn't fixed the problem. It still boots to a black screen with an occasionally flickering cursor. I'm currently running in safemode.
Both me and a friend of mine have Lenovo W540s. Everything was working perfectly fine with all of our hardware, until today. A BIOS update came out and installed correctly on both of our machines. After this update both of our UltraNAV features on the trackpad are all dead. After that first restart a message appeared "finding new hardware" and it found a generic mouse on the laptop. Now when I try to re-install the UltraNav drivers, it says no hardware found. I tried both the drivers on Lenovo.com and the manufacture's website all with no luck.
How to fix our UltraNav pads?

I have recently decided to upgrade my RAM from 2GB to 4GB. After installing, I booted up my computer to find that it would not recognize the new memory. After doing a bit of troubleshooting, I decided to try and update the BIOS, as the version was from 2010. I downloaded the BIOS update boot CD application from lenovo, burned a disc, and on reboot I found that the boot order did not have CD listed on it. Here's the catch: I don't have the supervisor password. This is a hand-me-down laptop, and I have tried to find the password to no avail. This is the current boot order: USB drive, Hard drive.
My question is, can I either create a BIOS update disc using a USB, or update the BIOS some other way?
I understand that it is impossible to recover the supervisor password without having it serviced (which I would rather not do, even if I have to send my RAM back to Crucial)
