The operating system is loaded, and the computer (XPS M1330, Service Tag 7GQ814J) monitor glows white. Then appear on the screen gray vertical stripes. Until this fault computer worked with green vertical stripes on the screen.

I have tried another input with a different cable(DVI) but the same problem occurs.
Atfirst I thought it could be a virus, as I wasn’t really doing anything heavy for my CPU. Since my computer wasn’t really able to start up, I thought I couldas well just install Windows 8. I deleted everything in the process. After this I’ve installed every driver necessary (Windows 8 does this automatically for the base drivers I think). Both my graphics card run the latest Nvidia Driver,downloaded from their site. Only one stopped working(image) Also my PCI device says it has no drivers. Only there are no drivers downloadable from Dell that are compatible with Windows 8.
Main question: What causes the problem described? Is something repairable or do I have to buy new things?

I have attached the images in which the error message is shown. For my graphics card I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers available. It might also be a problem that my graphic cards aren't used for the output of my display.
The drivers for the PCI device on Dell are outdated and not compatible with windows 8, which I run my computer with now.
Problem was intermittent and if I moved the screen a little up or down it would go away. Now it looks like its here to stay.

I'm pretty sure that my LCD screen is shot, and unfortunately, the warranty on this notebook expired in october, so sending it to SONY for repair is completely out of the question (They want $500 when I paid $900 for this notebook, it's absolutely not worth it)
That leaves me with the option of replacing the screen on my own.
Ordering a screen through Sony Parts Direct would cost me around $250, while getting a cheap third party replacement off of ebay for around $75 dollars. I don't really care either way as long as the computer works for at least another year.
So my questions would be,
1) Has anyone ordered a replacement screen off of ebay before, and what was the quality like?
and
2) Where can I find the disassembly, repair instructions for this computer on the Sony website?
I have a pavilion dv6, working perfectly till I closed the lid ( probably a bit too hard :/ ) and then when I opened the lid these vertical white, red and green lines are there. And a black stripe at the bottom of the display. Also horizontal grey bars covering the start button completely.

The question is that I still have warranty? my dell warranty expires the past august so I dont have dell warranty. Still I read that GPU warranty is extended one more year.
our Dell 9300 has these stripes since 6 month. I guess it is the Ram on the X300
but i although have read this could be an issue of the LCD.
Who has experiences and can tell me?

Btw, i mean the vertical thin coloured stripes on the right side of screen. Others are reflexions from cam.
I have a year old babied XPS M1330 with Nvdia 8400GS videocard.
Its been sitting on a desk connected to 2 Dell 23'' (S2309W) screens for months. One connected via HDMI and other using VGA.
The VGA is producing vertical lines flashing. As if there is noise!, i've swapped the VGA and HDMI cable and problem is produced on other screen
I've also tried another VGA cable. Also tried changing the refresh rate from 60 to 59. Still nothing.
i have a Dell XPS M1530 laptop its 3 years old it used to show white screen on start up which soon converts into grey and sometimes colored stripes and than it eventually stops on a white screen with a thick black vertical stripe in the center and finally changes to black sometimes i car hear the start up tone of windows and even i can presumably browse the files and open them too again i can hear the sound but could not be able to see anything.

The laptop doesnt progress to the startup or anything and I cant access safemode or anything.
On may 2014 i bought a lenovo thinkpad t440p from amazon. Recently the screen make some white stripes if you press lightly on the borders or if you move the screen.
I dont know how to proceed to check it ( the computer is still on warranty from lenovo )... Also the computer showed me a warning message on harddisk SMART short self test when i run the hardware test.
As others with x230's have found, I have an issue with the screen fading/graying out then developing vertical lines over the entire screen. Pressing the screen bottom screen border resolves it for a split second then it occurs again, though resolves usually after pressing it at various points along the plastic lower edge maybe 3-6 times, sometimes with slight flickering of whites after. I bought it on ebay so don't have any warranty information, unfortunately.It appears to be the LCD connector or cable.Is it possible to open it up and fix that somehow, or should I buy an IPS screen (the current screen isn't IPS I believe) and replace it myself?
I have 4 vertical lines almost equal distance apart on about 1/5 of the left of my screen on my Dell Inspiron 9300.
My assumption is the video card. I believe a soda got on it and that the previous owner tore it down and attempted to allow it to dry.
I have an old Dell Inspiron 8100 and wanted to ask if there was anyway that video card might fit the 9300? That would be a quick fix where it could be used immediately.
If not, I would really like to mod it out, but have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Any ideas or proper parts to look into would be greatly appreciated. Add speed, get better video, etc. Can I purchase a different motherboard that would fit inside?
I have these vertical lines in my screen that appear whenever the laptop screen is on. I have connected the laptop to an external monitor and the external monitor looks fine. I have taken a screenshot of my warranties from Dell if that will decipher whether or not the screen can be replaced.Â

I haven't connected the laptop to an external monitor yet to completely rule out graphics card issue, but it seems like a screen issue to me. Last year I had a graphics card issue (garbled screen) and Dell replaced it under warranty but it's out of warranty this time ......

Just got my E6400 with the LED WXGA+ (1440X900) screen. My first reaction is what a hell! I got these lines on the screen, its almost as its only displaying every second line or something.
Maybe its the display drivers.. so i start testing different drivers but no luck, it wont change. See below for example:

Should it be like this? Do I miss the right drivers? My monitory sais General PnP, not any specific.. I'm using windows 7 x64. If its hard to see the vertical lines let me know and i'll try to get better pics.
My dell latitude 830 boots up with a verticle 1/16th line down the middle. I have reflowed the video chip.

seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.
I have a 1710 thats a couple weeks old and I have a problem. As of right whenever I install drivers other than the dell drivers for my 7950GTX and am running on battery the screen breaks up into a bunch of vertical tears. So far I have used both the Laptop Video 2 Go drivers with the tweaked INF and Geforce Tony's recommended drivers and as soon as I unplug the power I get this problem. But like I said, if I uninstall those drivers and load the current drivers from Dell.com everything works great.

I received my xps 16 with a screen defect (1080p 1900 x 1080 RGB LED screen) of 1 pixel wide vertical yellow line. Dell is arranging to pick it up and repair it. I am not happy about that as I expect to receive a functional machine.

I have a Dell E4300.A few days ago 2 vertical lines appeared on my screen, now there are around 10, different colors and sizes.When i press on the bottom of my display, where is the Dell logo, they disappear.I removed the display cover and, i think, the problem is the band in the middle, not the flex band connected to the motherboard.
Can the bottom of the display be changed? Is something like an inverter, but my screen is LED, so i belive that is a different mechanism. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the display?I checked with an external monitor, it works fine.
A number of weeks ago my laptop began to show vertical white lines on the screen, it has gradually gotten worse and now it is unusable. I have fallen outside warranty (couple of months). I have not dropped the machine, nor allowed any liquid near the machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSuddenly today a one-inch wide white vertical stripe appeared down the screen of my Inspiron 9400 laptop, about a sixth of the way into the screen from the left side. There is simply no image in this space, regardless of the application. This includes Windows XP from boot-up onwards. The initial screen on start-up is not affected, however, which leads me to believe this is a software problem, rather than a hardware problem.
I have had my Inspiron for 4 1/2 years with no problems until today. How to correct this.
