Basically I start the laptop up, then the very first screen that appears is a black screen which then proceeds to show these coloured stripes before changing to a white screen which then shows more stripes.
The laptop doesnt progress to the startup or anything and I cant access safemode or anything.
our Dell 9300 has these stripes since 6 month. I guess it is the Ram on the X300
but i although have read this could be an issue of the LCD.
Who has experiences and can tell me?

Btw, i mean the vertical thin coloured stripes on the right side of screen. Others are reflexions from cam.
The operating system is loaded, and the computer (XPS M1330, Service Tag 7GQ814J) monitor glows white. Then appear on the screen gray vertical stripes. Until this fault computer worked with green vertical stripes on the screen.

(I'm currently writing this on my TV-screen with input from my laptop, but all over the screen there are vertical green bars, 5 of them) If I set my resolution lower, the screen bars seem to spread out over the screen as if my screen was woven together with green cloth. I have tried another input with a different cable(DVI) but the same problem occurs.
Atfirst I thought it could be a virus, as I wasn’t really doing anything heavy for my CPU. Since my computer wasn’t really able to start up, I thought I couldas well just install Windows 8. I deleted everything in the process. After this I’ve installed every driver necessary (Windows 8 does this automatically for the base drivers I think). Both my graphics card run the latest Nvidia Driver,downloaded from their site. Only one stopped working(image) Also my PCI device says it has no drivers. Only there are no drivers downloadable from Dell that are compatible with Windows 8.
Main question: What causes the problem described? Is something repairable or do I have to buy new things?

I have attached the images in which the error message is shown. For my graphics card I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers available. It might also be a problem that my graphic cards aren't used for the output of my display.
The drivers for the PCI device on Dell are outdated and not compatible with windows 8, which I run my computer with now.
On may 2014 i bought a lenovo thinkpad t440p from amazon. Recently the screen make some white stripes if you press lightly on the borders or if you move the screen.
I dont know how to proceed to check it ( the computer is still on warranty from lenovo )... Also the computer showed me a warning message on harddisk SMART short self test when i run the hardware test.
2 days ago, I was using my Aspire 5720Z and when I opened it after closing it, half the screen was filled with weird coloured lines. I tried restarting it and even restoring it back to the factory default but that didn't help at all.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was streaming a TV show from my XPS via the HDMI port to my HD TV. All of a sudden it froze. Couldn't Ctrl+Alt+Delte, couldn't do anything.
Shut it down with the power button and left it for a few minutes, re-booted and all I got was a white screen followed by strange lines on the screen.
What I have garnered from the forums that with the Nvidia GPU is burnt out or the motherboard needs replaced.
Its out of warranty so I wonder how much it would cost to fix or is it fixable if I bought the parts myself. I seen a link on the forum about replacing the Copper mod but surely this won't work if the GPU is burnt out?
I have a blue dell xps 1330 and I am talking about the top of the laptop when you close the lid, the colored part. It has a large scratch in it and I was wondering if I could get the whole part somewhere online or something. Is this possible? thanks I would like to change it to red too

i try all. Dismantle notebook and display and check all the cables tucked, reinstal windows (thus eliminating the possibility that this may notebook hardware control)
stripe appear to be in the wound or the movement of the table with display
Rear camera is putting a stripe in pictures.
Works fine for video, preview of still photos perfect.Take the picture and as the photos "swooshes" to the left, you see that the saved image has a stripe about a third of the way up. For some reason, the saved image is copying the bottom 5% or so of the image, and "pasting" that slightly offset into the bottom third of the photo.
Taking a PrtSc copies a perfct image into the clipboard, (includes camera icons).
Changing image aspect, disablig Camera Plus does nothing.
At least three other people posted on a Microsoft page about this, seems to have arrived with 8.1 upgrade.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling both drivers, no joy?
I have a user who recently turned in an Inspiron 1300 with a screen problem. Unfortunately this machine is out of warranty, and the extended warranty we usually purchase was never bought for this machine (this is why users don't get to do their own ordering anymore! ....

When I tried to resume it by starting my laptop then screen went black and it beeps like it was installing, but the screen is still black so I have no clue if it's doing it or not.

Intially I had vertical lines down the screen - now there is nothing and computer gives 8 continues loud bleeps on start-up - there will be a slight pause then again 8 beeps. This is continuous until the laptop is shut down. I am happy to change the screen but before investing in a new one, whether this would be the correct way to go?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy dell laptop worked perfectly for around 6 months. After that i have had to use my TV as a monitor via HDMI. Basically on start up the screen goes black and slowly turns to white with multi-coloured lines running vertically down it. It first started to play around not long after i had bought it, the screen would freeze and seem to slowly become faded and lose colour but if i flipped the screen up and down a little it would work fine again but after abut a month of being able to jiggle it back to a working state it completely went. I have spoken to a local PC reapir shop who have quoted me around £150-175 to fix this.
I have researched this problem thoroughly on the internet to find that this particular model is prone to issues like mine and others in regards to its screen. Using my TV as a monitor, the visuals are all fine.
I have downloaded the latest drivers for literally everything. Bios, Graphics... You name it, I have tried it in multiple attempts to try and fix this.
My laptop is no longer under warranty but this issue seems to affect a lot of this particular model.
I'm having problems with my hp DV 9500 laptop. It started 2 days ago, on start up my screen is completely red then the windows logo appears with black splayed around the outside edge. When i'm surfing the net some pages are appearing with red patches but apart from this my laptop is working fine. View 7 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron 7720 (17R SE) approx 2 years old, just started having problems about a week ago when turning on the computer. LEDs flash and dell quickset buttons light up; but then process just dies, screen is black and only the LEDs by the power symbol and on power buttons are lit, never reaches the Dell logo screen, no fan sounds or anything.
At first, hitting the power button to turn off then back on and the second time the boot process would work. Then it failed to do that, so I had to remove the battery, pull the power cord and hold the power button down for 30 sec's, and then it would boot normal. Now even that does not work, just have to keep powering down and re-powering and after a random number of times, 10-30 it finally boots normal, every once in while it will work first try. It seems to be getting worse.
I have used the Dell Diagnostic on boot (though it took many tries to get into the ePSA, that did not detect any problems. When I use the Dell Support Advanced, no problems detected, and I specifically rand the Motherboard (which included CMOS test) and those did not find any problems.
If I put the computer in sleep, it comes back fine. It is only when I shut down, laptop just will not boot until I hit power on (fail) / power off repeatedly until finally, as if by luck it works fine.
I just finished installing a new screen on my daughters laptop and, upon powering on, the screen stays black and i get 8 loud beeps. I have checked the connection behind the screen and it is secure. I read a few related posts and held the d button while powering on but nothing happens.

I have a dell inspiron n5040 . Its only 1 month old.since 2days ago everytime i try to turn it on all i get is a blank screen with audio of 7 beeps a pause then 7 more and so on. I have read a few posts about taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 secs and also trying with just the ac power, I don't think this works for my problem. The power and battery lights comes on and the disk holder flashes. So my problem is I TURN ON MY LAPTOP AND THE SCREEN IS BLANK,I HEAR 7 BEEPS ETC.

I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. I've tried to do the test run by pressing "D" but nothing shows up, only a white screen.

its like a bunch of green pixels just start appearing all over the screen and wont go away until i either close the laptop or restart. After I do that it will go away for a couple weeks and then it will happen again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently formatted my Dell Latitude D520 laptop because of a frequent shutdown problem.
Also at the same time I have updated my BIOS setup file.
But now whenever i restart laptop, at the start up the DELL logo appears and also the windows logo and other messages appears in very small window rather than full screen size, till the machine gets fully loaded. Once the windows is loaded , it works well with full screen mode.
However, if i run any Command Prompt application, the screen get shrinks to small size, the same size which appears when the machine is booting.
On investigation, I found that
a) At every startup in BIOS setup Video/LCD Panel expansion is getting turned off and I have to manually enabled it at every startup
b) If i run any video/audio file the latptop instantly get turned off and may or may not restart for several days. Once it get turned off, it simply start getting turned off at every startup.
I have installed the drivers from the site, but problem persists.
Does it happens because I updated latest BIOS version? Shall i get old BIOS file from dell site?
