Acer :: LCD Has Vertical Coloured Lines And Crap
2 days ago, I was using my Aspire 5720Z and when I opened it after closing it, half the screen was filled with weird coloured lines. I tried restarting it and even restoring it back to the factory default but that didn't help at all.

Acer :: Aspire 8930G Pink Vertical Lines
last week i had 1 vertical pink line come on my screen and i dont know why because i hadnt dropped it or anything, but ever since i have been getting more and more of them until today when i turned it on and theres a big group of them.
I was wondering if i brought a new lcd for it would this fix this problem?
And also how easy are they to fit by yourself if you dont really know much about computers?
Acer :: Aspire 9304 Vertical Lines On Screen
I have had my Acer since new (about 2 years), not having any problems with it whatsoever, until recently, when it decided that upon displaying dark (black, grey etc) background it will intermittently flash white vertical lines across the screen.
Since it is out of warranty I have had it looked up by a repair company, which have said it was the screen connection cables that were at fault. That helped the problem for about a month, after which it reappered.
I have repeated the process then - the company replaced the connections, but this time it didn't help at all.
As this is happeneing randomly I am now asking, what could be the casue of such a fault,, if anyone has any idea. If there are any questions I will respond to the best of my knowledge.
I have made a short video that shows exactly what happens
Dell :: Vertical Lines? M1330
Well I read a lot of this, I think I have it now. My display going again to shutdown and appears the vertical lines of Apocalipsis!!!!
A video that I saw in you tube
YouTube - nvidia gpu failure dell xps m1330 graphics / video problems, vertical lines what's going on?
I have the same thing, still external monitor works.
The question is that I still have warranty? my dell warranty expires the past august so I dont have dell warranty. Still I read that GPU warranty is extended one more year.
Dell :: Vertical Lines On Screen
I have 4 vertical lines almost equal distance apart on about 1/5 of the left of my screen on my Dell Inspiron 9300.
My assumption is the video card. I believe a soda got on it and that the previous owner tore it down and attempted to allow it to dry.
I have an old Dell Inspiron 8100 and wanted to ask if there was anyway that video card might fit the 9300? That would be a quick fix where it could be used immediately.
If not, I would really like to mod it out, but have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Any ideas or proper parts to look into would be greatly appreciated. Add speed, get better video, etc. Can I purchase a different motherboard that would fit inside?
Dell :: Studio 15 Vertical Lines
I bought a Dell Studio 15 last week. It arrived yesterday and the first thing I noticed when I turned it on was that there are tiny vertical lines all over the screen. They're not always visible, mainly just on brighter colours.
They're not colourful lines, they're almost transparent. It's definatly not the same lines caused by the overheating problem in the XPS series. These look a lot different .....
HP/Compaq :: Dv6 Faint Vertical Lines
I just bought a dv6-2190us and I love the laptop but the screen quality is horrible.
In white areas of the screen, instead of the display being pure white, it is grainy instead, with very faint vertical lines running up and down the screen, becoming more noticable as the viewing angle changes vertically. This drives me crazy as I work with text for a living and screen quality is critical to me.
The screen quality of $399 Compaq CQ60 is head and shoulders above this.
I've tried calibrating the screen, verifying that it's in native resolution, etc, etc to no avail.
I dont think the problem is isolated to my laptop because I checked some other dv6's at bestbuy and saw the same problem.
Dell :: M1330's VGA Out Producing Vertical Lines!
I have a year old babied XPS M1330 with Nvdia 8400GS videocard.
Its been sitting on a desk connected to 2 Dell 23'' (S2309W) screens for months. One connected via HDMI and other using VGA.
The VGA is producing vertical lines flashing. As if there is noise!, i've swapped the VGA and HDMI cable and problem is produced on other screen
I've also tried another VGA cable. Also tried changing the refresh rate from 60 to 59. Still nothing.
Dell :: Xps2 Wuxga Vertical Lines
I have an xps2 that has gone thru about 5 screens over its extended warranty (all vertical lines) now 1 month out of warranty the latest replacement is getting lines.
how to get dell to replace it or is it just sop to just replace with defective parts til the warranty runs out?
Dell :: Small Series Of Vertical Lines
I have vertical lines on my m1330 but not the same kind that I keep finding in my searches.
My computer doesn't crash, it just has a few lines up and down the screen when I boot and they stay there.
A bit of history, the computer was dropped by the previous owner (one of my coworkers) and the screen was broken so I bought a replacement LCD for it and swapped it out.
Worked great for two weeks until I got the lines. Its still functional, the lines are just annoying and I'm worried about a burn in. I tried taking the screen apart again and checking my connections but the lines are still there
Dell :: Vertical Green Lines XPS M1710
got a Dell XPS M1710 when i start the computer i get green vertical lines, but when i go into safe mode i dont see the green lines anymore but when i try to start windows normally i just get a black screen after the Microsoft screen, i have posted images below.
HP/Compaq :: Vertical Lines On My Presario V6000
I have a Presario V6000 and i love it, but just recently ive started to get vertical lines on my LCD. so far there are 4 groups, maybe 3-4 pixles wide that run the length of the monitor. I've priced out new monitors at around $100, but my concern is: is it the LCD going bad or is it the signal cable?
HP/Compaq :: Vertical Lines- Pavillion DV9000
My friend brought his laptop over and I'm trying to help him sort everything out. I think the problem might be due do a dying graphics card or bad memory.
Basically on the load up screen for Windows, there are groups of white dotted vertical lines spread evenly across the screen. This also happens when in CMOS. Everything seems fine on the desktop in safe mode, so I'm not sure whats wrong.
Here's an example... I used MS paint to make a picture to emulate the problem.
the lines go through the windows logo..
Dell :: Inspiron 1501... White Screen W/ Vertical Lines
it's running WinXP, AMD dual core, 1 gig ram, 120 gb hd...
seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.
Dell :: Cold Shoulder From On NVidia/crash/vertical Lines
getting Dell to change its tune?
I bought a refurbished XPS 1330 in mid-2008 from the Dell Outlet and a few days ago started experiencing what so many others have.
I was told my a supervisor today that my machine shipped with a motherboard that was updated to address the NVidia issue, and the extended warranty wouldn't help me. I have a fried machine that's less than two years old, and Dell says I'm on my own.
From reading other posts here, it looks like this problem is deeper and more widespread than they're letting on now.
Sony :: Green And Orange Vertical Lines Down Vaio VGN-CR220E Screen
I'm pretty sure that my LCD screen is shot, and unfortunately, the warranty on this notebook expired in october, so sending it to SONY for repair is completely out of the question (They want $500 when I paid $900 for this notebook, it's absolutely not worth it)
That leaves me with the option of replacing the screen on my own.
Ordering a screen through Sony Parts Direct would cost me around $250, while getting a cheap third party replacement off of ebay for around $75 dollars. I don't really care either way as long as the computer works for at least another year.
So my questions would be,
1) Has anyone ordered a replacement screen off of ebay before, and what was the quality like?
2) Where can I find the disassembly, repair instructions for this computer on the Sony website?
HP/Compaq :: Crap. Busted TV Tuner Antenna Adapter
i just built an hd antenna and i was scanning for new channels and it was picking up some awesome channels and then i tripped over the cord and busted that little adapter that converts a normal coax cable to the mini one that plugs into the tv tuner.
anyone know the part number? I've looked everywhere online and can only find the partnumber for the antenna, not the adapter by itself. is this mini plug a standard? i even chatted with hp parts department and they were of no help.
Acer :: 6930G Purple Lines On The Monitor
purple lines have started appearing on the monitor as any person who uses a laptop and constantly see a flicker of numerous purple horizontal lines would get annoyed so i
decided to open it up and check the connectors which a friend had recommended me to have a look at though im no technician but i noticed it had a triangular shaped screw i couldnt open because of that so at the moment im clueless what these screws are called?
Acer :: Aspire 5942G Display (diagonal Lines Over Colors)
I experience the following display problem with Acer Aspire 5942G:
When certain colors are displayed on the laptop screen, thin diagonal lines ( like waves ) start moving all over the mentioned color ( see the attached photo and movie).
The effect is very annoying and well seen when You look from underneath the display. The exact color depends on the color calibration and the Acer Cine Boost Color Engine but always exist.
I attach a test pattern of 4 colors - they are light ones. Each color reacts as explained depending on color calibration : default MS Windows 7 calibration , default ATI video driver calibration, Acer CineBoost Color Engine On/Off.
It is not affected by hot/cold notebook, battery/normal power. It does not affect the external display.
Dell :: About Storing Vertical
I am thinking about buying several laptop stands for my employees and was interested in a product called the Laptop Flip (see picture below). We need to raise our laptops for ventilation since they stay on all day.
In addition this stand holds laptops in the vertical position. I like the idea that we can save desktop space by storing our Dell's vertically but wondered is there are any issues with storing a laptop upright?
Sony :: Vaio FW : Displaced Lcd Vertical Bleeding
I bought a FW.
On the right part of the screen there was absolutely no blacklight bleeding.
Now it's seems as an internal opening has hatched between the lcd and the bezel and light is passing by. It's like you could see behind the lcd.
When I'm in front of the computer you can barely see it, but being at a certain angle, you can clearly see the white light from top to bottom only interrupted half-way by a one inch dark spot, which I presume is the thing that keeps the lcd glued to the bezel.
My question, is it possible for the lcd screen to have been pushed backwards only on the right part of the lcd during transportation?
Dell :: Vertical Line LCD Replacement On 9300 With XPS BIOS
I have a 9300 that developed the single-pixel wide vertical line about a week ago. Dell has agreed to replace it but will only do so if I send the entire computer, minus the HDD and battery, to the depot.
The problem is that I installed a 7800GTX using the hacked XPS2 BIOS. The rep specifically stated that the depot checks the entire system "for issues". The hacked BIOS and officially unsupported video card would be very easy excuses for Dell to refuse to replace the panel, even though I did the swap 3 years ago and the system has been fine up until last week.
Dell ::White Vertical Patch On Screen (E1705)
After a few years of good service, I noticed a white vertical patch about Ĺ" thick on my E1705 yesterday. It's always there whenever the screen is on.
I haven't connected the laptop to an external monitor yet to completely rule out graphics card issue, but it seems like a screen issue to me. Last year I had a graphics card issue (garbled screen) and Dell replaced it under warranty but it's out of warranty this time ......
Dell :: XPS 1330 Black Screen With Vertical Line

Dell :: E6400 LED Screen With Vertical Linesis It Normal
Just got my E6400 with the LED WXGA+ (1440X900) screen. My first reaction is what a hell! I got these lines on the screen, its almost as its only displaying every second line or something.
Maybe its the display drivers.. so i start testing different drivers but no luck, it wont change. See below for example:
Should it be like this? Do I miss the right drivers? My monitory sais General PnP, not any specific.. I'm using windows 7 x64. If its hard to see the vertical lines let me know and i'll try to get better pics.
Dell :: 7950- Screen Breaks Up Into A Bunch Of Vertical Tears
I have a 1710 thats a couple weeks old and I have a problem. As of right whenever I install drivers other than the dell drivers for my 7950GTX and am running on battery the screen breaks up into a bunch of vertical tears. So far I have used both the Laptop Video 2 Go drivers with the tweaked INF and Geforce Tony's recommended drivers and as soon as I unplug the power I get this problem. But like I said, if I uninstall those drivers and load the current drivers from Dell.com everything works great.
Dell :: 1 Pixel Wide Vertical Colored Screen Defect, Who Else Has It?
Did anyone receive their Studio XPS 13 or 16 with any defects? I received my xps 16 with a screen defect (1080p 1900 x 1080 RGB LED screen) of 1 pixel wide vertical yellow line. Dell is arranging to pick it up and repair it. I am not happy about that as I expect to receive a functional machine.
I did some search and it seems this yellow (or other colour) vertical line issue with Dell laptop screen has been an ongoing issue from 2006 (or earlier than that)...
Dell :: Lines Through The Screen
I have a Dell Inspirion E1705 and when I woke up this morning it seems as though computer had frozen, but the seemed to be white lines down the screen.
I rebooted the computer and even on the BIOS screen there were lines, and Vista would not boot. I tried running the system diagnostics and it had passed every test (I ran the extended tests), and the lines seems to had gone away after reboot.
When I got to the Windows log-on screen there were still some lines, but once I logged in, the lines had gone away...or so it seemed. After about 30 min of surfing the internet, the screen froze and lines went through the screen once again.
I believe my graphics card, nVidia 7900 Go GS, has gone bad, but I can't talk to anyone at Dell because my warrenty has exspired.
I'm hoping I'm wrong about my graphics card failing, and maybe is has something to do with corrupt bios, but I'm not sure.
Dell :: Lines On Screen
I notice like 6-7 short lines on my screen (mostly concentrated on the left side of screen)...looks like something you would see if you took you finger nail and and went down on an lcd screen (technicolor line).
If i take my finger and lightly touch the line, it goes away, but it reappears every time i boot the computer! Should I ask for a screen replacement?
Dell :: XPS 170 Lines Started To Appear On The Screen
I came home and these weird lines started to appear on the screen. They don't always appear and they're not vertical. The screen is fine when first boot up, but they start appearing after I run some programs. Sometimes the OS would stop responding altogether.
It's not a virus.
Tried reinstall OS, but the setup halts at the very beginning, which I assume is when it scans for hardwares.
So I'm fairly convinced that it's a hardware issue, and the diagnostic says one of the registers on my video card is bad. (Actually the diagnostic test ran without any problem until it tested one of the video modes, so it appears that the card is fine in some video modes like tiled mode).
Does anyone have any way for me to be exactly sure that it is the video card's fault? It costs 400 bucks on Ebay, so I want to be sure. (There could be a slight chance that it's the MB's fault?)
If it is the video card's fault, what are my replacement options? I don't really mind the performance, since I have bought a new desktop. So any video card that can render a few polygons on screen would work for me.
The system in question:
Dell XPS M170
with GeForce 7800 GO GTX
Sony :: Wide Diagonal Lines On Z
From time to time, only a blink of a second though, I'd get the lines seen on the print screen below on this Sony VGN-Z890. Moving the mouse will make them disappear. If I remember correctly this happens in both Stamina/Speed mode.
Mobile Intel 4 series driver: 220.127.116.1184
nvidia: 186.84 (directX 11)
Bios: INSYDE R5030M3 (18.08.2009)
is this a hardware defect or driver problem,
HP/Compaq :: HP Zd8000-lines On Monitor
I have a HP zd8000 laptop. It has what looks like one yellow line and one blue line on the right side of the screen that run vertically. Sometimes when I move the monitor it also flickers but usually only when I physically move the screen. How do I get the lines to go away or is my monitor going bad?
Dell :: Flickering Horizontal LCD Lines On M1530
Hi - I have an 8 month old M1530. Intermittantly I have experienced horizontal lines (multiple) that flicker.
It depends upon the angle that the screen is tilted backwards. Although I have found ways to "fix" it in the past (by opening the screen completely and then adjusting to the prefered angle),
I am now getting these lines at any angle greater than about 80 degrees. And, I can no longer fix it. Any ideas what this is? Can I fix it myself (loose cable) or do I need to call Dell.
Dell :: 7900gs .. Green Lines Of Death
I've had my 7900 overclocked since the gtx/gsx bios thing came out a year or so ago. The other day the laptop's screen was frozen and it was locked up. Rebooted and had vertical green lines on the screen during bootup and black screen at startup.. had to reboot into safemode where things worked.. uninstalled the driver and it rebooted back into vista just fine. Installed a new driver and things seemed fine.. green lines were gone and windows worked.. the next day I rebooted and green lines are back... and things not working again.
I would like to reset the bios back to the original 7900gs at the stock speeds and voltage.. but I can't find the original bios.. and when I try to load any other 7900gs bios's I get a "bios mismatch" error.. with nvflash.
Sony :: Vaio Z Diagonal Lines On Screen
I have a Vaio Z with the 1600 by 900 screen, since having it repaired (the bottom case replaced) I have noticed Diagonal lines from the top left to bottom right.
I have had it in with Vaio Link, but they say they can see nothing wrong with it and sent it back
The lines/banding show in the Bios so it is not software related.
Does any else's screens look like this? I have compared it with another model in the Sony Shop and that one didn't seem to have the issue.
1: Diagonal lines from top left to bottom right in the lighter colours, this is in MS paint.
2: BBC web site, the Diagonal lines are clearly seen in the BBC blue.
3: Sony Vaio Bios, is clear in the light blue and lightly in the white area.
HP/Compaq :: HP DV5t HD Video- Lines On Screen
I have an HP DV5t purchased last September/October.
The computer seems to have a weird problem when watching HD videos from places like YouTube or Hulu. I will get horizontal lines near the middle height of the screen. They are not pixels changing colors or going dark, it is almost as if the image is jumping around or as if it is processing/updating the video or something. (It's really hard to explain - it looks like the video is slightly off, just a series of horizontal lines that are jumping around.)
I've never noticed this until somewhat recently. Is this just a case of horizontal refresh lines and the video being too high-quality? Or does it sound like something more problematic.
Dell :: Strange Lines And Characters Across My MX1210 Screen...
My dell mx1210 has been giving me these strange vertical lines on my screen with different characters on the text as well whenever I boot up.
I suspect a graphic card driver issue b/c it usually happens only after I install the Geforce go 7400 drivers. I had already tried the latest drivers but those didnít help either.
Every now and then, even if I had uninstalled the drivers it still shows upon start up or I get blank screens later when on desktop. Is anyone familiar with this type of problem on their laptop? Unfortunately, I donít think the graphic card is irreplaceable on this particular notebook.
