Jun 20, 2009sometimes appears a vertical line on the screen. Normally it disappear, by itselfs, after 5-15min...or it disappears depending how I open the laptop.

Apr 22, 2013I have a Dell E4300.A few days ago 2 vertical lines appeared on my screen, now there are around 10, different colors and sizes.When i press on the bottom of my display, where is the Dell logo, they disappear.I removed the display cover and, i think, the problem is the band in the middle, not the flex band connected to the motherboard.
Can the bottom of the display be changed? Is something like an inverter, but my screen is LED, so i belive that is a different mechanism. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the display?I checked with an external monitor, it works fine.
Dell :: Vertical Line LCD Replacement On 9300 With XPS BIOS
Feb 6, 2009I have a 9300 that developed the single-pixel wide vertical line about a week ago. Dell has agreed to replace it but will only do so if I send the entire computer, minus the HDD and battery, to the depot.
The problem is that I installed a 7800GTX using the hacked XPS2 BIOS. The rep specifically stated that the depot checks the entire system "for issues". The hacked BIOS and officially unsupported video card would be very easy excuses for Dell to refuse to replace the panel, even though I did the swap 3 years ago and the system has been fine up until last week.

Mar 7, 2013I am trying to figure out if my video card has gone bad on my 6400 and wanted to know if can be replaced. I have a nvidia 7200 256 mb gpu.. I am running into a problem where my screen just goes black in the middle of everything. The problem also occurs when hooking the laptop up to a monitor. Initially I thought I had a bad inverter board and bad video drivers, both have been replaced but the problem still persist. I ran the diagnostics and the screen went black during the video check. I have to reboot the pc to get the screen back on then the problem happens again.
Can the video card be replaced on the 6400?

I bought it on ebay so don't have any warranty information, unfortunately.It appears to be the LCD connector or cable.Is it possible to open it up and fix that somehow, or should I buy an IPS screen (the current screen isn't IPS I believe) and replace it myself?
Dell :: Vertical Lines On Screen
Jan 16, 2009I have 4 vertical lines almost equal distance apart on about 1/5 of the left of my screen on my Dell Inspiron 9300.
My assumption is the video card. I believe a soda got on it and that the previous owner tore it down and attempted to allow it to dry.
I have an old Dell Inspiron 8100 and wanted to ask if there was anyway that video card might fit the 9300? That would be a quick fix where it could be used immediately.
If not, I would really like to mod it out, but have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Any ideas or proper parts to look into would be greatly appreciated. Add speed, get better video, etc. Can I purchase a different motherboard that would fit inside?

Sep 22, 2009Just got my E6400 with the LED WXGA+ (1440X900) screen. My first reaction is what a hell! I got these lines on the screen, its almost as its only displaying every second line or something.

seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.

Oct 22, 2007I have a 1710 thats a couple weeks old and I have a problem. As of right whenever I install drivers other than the dell drivers for my 7950GTX and am running on battery the screen breaks up into a bunch of vertical tears. So far I have used both the Laptop Video 2 Go drivers with the tweaked INF and Geforce Tony's recommended drivers and as soon as I unplug the power I get this problem. But like I said, if I uninstall those drivers and load the current drivers from Dell.com everything works great.

Dell is arranging to pick it up and repair it. I am not happy about that as I expect to receive a functional machine.

Nov 19, 2009I have had my Acer since new (about 2 years), not having any problems with it whatsoever, until recently, when it decided that upon displaying dark (black, grey etc) background it will intermittently flash white vertical lines across the screen.
Since it is out of warranty I have had it looked up by a repair company, which have said it was the screen connection cables that were at fault. That helped the problem for about a month, after which it reappered.
I have repeated the process then - the company replaced the connections, but this time it didn't help at all.
As this is happeneing randomly I am now asking, what could be the casue of such a fault,, if anyone has any idea. If there are any questions I will respond to the best of my knowledge.
