Jun 20, 2009sometimes appears a vertical line on the screen. Normally it disappear, by itselfs, after 5-15min...or it disappears depending how I open the laptop.

i sent it to support center thay told me thay cannt fix it coz the problem from the motherbourd and thay donnt have this model i think now i have to bey it from internet and i have to fix it at home but im not sure if the problem from the motherbourd or no coz i didnot trust the support center in my country

Nov 19, 2009I have had my Acer since new (about 2 years), not having any problems with it whatsoever, until recently, when it decided that upon displaying dark (black, grey etc) background it will intermittently flash white vertical lines across the screen.
Since it is out of warranty I have had it looked up by a repair company, which have said it was the screen connection cables that were at fault. That helped the problem for about a month, after which it reappered.
I have repeated the process then - the company replaced the connections, but this time it didn't help at all.
As this is happeneing randomly I am now asking, what could be the casue of such a fault,, if anyone has any idea. If there are any questions I will respond to the best of my knowledge.

Feb 6, 2009I have a 9300 that developed the single-pixel wide vertical line about a week ago. Dell has agreed to replace it but will only do so if I send the entire computer, minus the HDD and battery, to the depot.
The problem is that I installed a 7800GTX using the hacked XPS2 BIOS. The rep specifically stated that the depot checks the entire system "for issues". The hacked BIOS and officially unsupported video card would be very easy excuses for Dell to refuse to replace the panel, even though I did the swap 3 years ago and the system has been fine up until last week.

Sep 26, 2009last week i had 1 vertical pink line come on my screen and i dont know why because i hadnt dropped it or anything, but ever since i have been getting more and more of them until today when i turned it on and theres a big group of them.
I was wondering if i brought a new lcd for it would this fix this problem?
And also how easy are they to fit by yourself if you dont really know much about computers?

- clean the notebook
- format
- change windows Version
- change drivers
and then...
Open the notebook to check Cable.
and > Buy a NEW LCD on EBAY and try to mount it.
Now i've got the new Panel but the problem is still here.
Acer :: Aspire One Owners: Faint Line On Outer LCD Casing
Feb 28, 2009I actually noticed a faint, faint line in the outer glossy covering on the top of the laptop, about half-way in the middle horizontally. It looks like a plastic blemish but looks too perfect, as it's perfectly straight and right in the center.
Again, doesn't bug me, but I'm curious if anyone else noticed this. You gotta see it in the right light!

Nov 30, 2014As others with x230's have found, I have an issue with the screen fading/graying out then developing vertical lines over the entire screen. Pressing the screen bottom screen border resolves it for a split second then it occurs again, though resolves usually after pressing it at various points along the plastic lower edge maybe 3-6 times, sometimes with slight flickering of whites after. I bought it on ebay so don't have any warranty information, unfortunately.It appears to be the LCD connector or cable.Is it possible to open it up and fix that somehow, or should I buy an IPS screen (the current screen isn't IPS I believe) and replace it myself?
Dell :: Vertical Lines On Screen
Jan 16, 2009I have 4 vertical lines almost equal distance apart on about 1/5 of the left of my screen on my Dell Inspiron 9300.
My assumption is the video card. I believe a soda got on it and that the previous owner tore it down and attempted to allow it to dry.
I have an old Dell Inspiron 8100 and wanted to ask if there was anyway that video card might fit the 9300? That would be a quick fix where it could be used immediately.
If not, I would really like to mod it out, but have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Any ideas or proper parts to look into would be greatly appreciated. Add speed, get better video, etc. Can I purchase a different motherboard that would fit inside?

Sep 22, 2009Just got my E6400 with the LED WXGA+ (1440X900) screen. My first reaction is what a hell! I got these lines on the screen, its almost as its only displaying every second line or something.
Maybe its the display drivers.. so i start testing different drivers but no luck, it wont change. See below for example:

Should it be like this? Do I miss the right drivers? My monitory sais General PnP, not any specific.. I'm using windows 7 x64. If its hard to see the vertical lines let me know and i'll try to get better pics.

i have had a brand new motherboard fitted today, and this problem was there beforehand, i also have the latest drivers installed.

Oct 29, 2007it's running WinXP, AMD dual core, 1 gig ram, 120 gb hd...
seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.

Oct 22, 2007I have a 1710 thats a couple weeks old and I have a problem. As of right whenever I install drivers other than the dell drivers for my 7950GTX and am running on battery the screen breaks up into a bunch of vertical tears. So far I have used both the Laptop Video 2 Go drivers with the tweaked INF and Geforce Tony's recommended drivers and as soon as I unplug the power I get this problem. But like I said, if I uninstall those drivers and load the current drivers from Dell.com everything works great.

Dell is arranging to pick it up and repair it. I am not happy about that as I expect to receive a functional machine.
I did some search and it seems this yellow (or other colour) vertical line issue with Dell laptop screen has been an ongoing issue from 2006 (or earlier than that)...

Apr 22, 2013I have a Dell E4300.A few days ago 2 vertical lines appeared on my screen, now there are around 10, different colors and sizes.When i press on the bottom of my display, where is the Dell logo, they disappear.I removed the display cover and, i think, the problem is the band in the middle, not the flex band connected to the motherboard.
Can the bottom of the display be changed? Is something like an inverter, but my screen is LED, so i belive that is a different mechanism. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the display?I checked with an external monitor, it works fine.

Dec 6, 2010Suddenly today a one-inch wide white vertical stripe appeared down the screen of my Inspiron 9400 laptop, about a sixth of the way into the screen from the left side. There is simply no image in this space, regardless of the application. This includes Windows XP from boot-up onwards. The initial screen on start-up is not affected, however, which leads me to believe this is a software problem, rather than a hardware problem.
