Mar 30, 2009I turned on my C563NR notebook today to find a vertical red/pink line running down the left side. Bad LCD? Inverter board?

View 6 RepliesProblem was intermittent and if I moved the screen a little up or down it would go away. Now it looks like its here to stay.
Heres a picture:
I have a 9300 that developed the single-pixel wide vertical line about a week ago. Dell has agreed to replace it but will only do so if I send the entire computer, minus the HDD and battery, to the depot.
The problem is that I installed a 7800GTX using the hacked XPS2 BIOS. The rep specifically stated that the depot checks the entire system "for issues". The hacked BIOS and officially unsupported video card would be very easy excuses for Dell to refuse to replace the panel, even though I did the swap 3 years ago and the system has been fine up until last week.
I have XPS 1330 when i swtsh on it give me Black screen with vertical line
i sent it to support center thay told me thay cannt fix it coz the problem from the motherbourd and thay donnt have this model i think now i have to bey it from internet and i have to fix it at home but im not sure if the problem from the motherbourd or no coz i didnot trust the support center in my country
sometimes appears a vertical line on the screen. Normally it disappear, by itselfs, after 5-15min...or it disappears depending how I open the laptop.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a dv6-2190us and I love the laptop but the screen quality is horrible.
In white areas of the screen, instead of the display being pure white, it is grainy instead, with very faint vertical lines running up and down the screen, becoming more noticable as the viewing angle changes vertically. This drives me crazy as I work with text for a living and screen quality is critical to me.
The screen quality of $399 Compaq CQ60 is head and shoulders above this.
I've tried calibrating the screen, verifying that it's in native resolution, etc, etc to no avail.
I dont think the problem is isolated to my laptop because I checked some other dv6's at bestbuy and saw the same problem.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Presario V6000 and i love it, but just recently ive started to get vertical lines on my LCD. so far there are 4 groups, maybe 3-4 pixles wide that run the length of the monitor. I've priced out new monitors at around $100, but my concern is: is it the LCD going bad or is it the signal cable?
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhat there extremely fine lines are, they show in the bios boot screen so it is not a software fault.
I have a SEC lcd panel, they are more obvious on certain colours , blue, orange and others.
Is there anyway to minimize them.
I have plugged in an 19" external monitor and the lines do not show.
My friend brought his laptop over and I'm trying to help him sort everything out. I think the problem might be due do a dying graphics card or bad memory.
Basically on the load up screen for Windows, there are groups of white dotted vertical lines spread evenly across the screen. This also happens when in CMOS. Everything seems fine on the desktop in safe mode, so I'm not sure whats wrong.
Here's an example... I used MS paint to make a picture to emulate the problem.
the lines go through the windows logo..
i have a hp zx5000 and i turned it on today after not being used for 2 weeks and just left of the center is a vertical line of purple pixels.

. Mini 110 XP Edition,
. Mini 110 Mi Edition
. Mini 1101.
The Minis are of light weight (2+lbs) with a 10.1" screen, and offer buyers a choice between 1.6ghz N270 or 1.66GHz N280 Intel Atom.
The Mini 110 XP Edition comes with:
. up to 1 GB RAM (I don't understand why they just say 1gigo period?)
. 32GB SSD or 160GB HHD - after the find that SSD in netbook are "slow" I think I will stick with the traditional HDD unless HP can state otherwise )
. optional (why optional?) W-WAN.
. optional Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator, for a 1080HD video experience. HP expects this optional feature to be available in July. I am writing up a small post on this Broadcom Crystal HD enhanced shortly, or if anyone care to jump in first (?)
. choice of "Black Swirl", "Pink Chic" and "White Swirl" looks.
The Mini 110 Mi Edition aka “mobile companion” device dashboard can launch Web browsing apps, e-mail, online video enjoyment. HP claims that this would minimize start-up time. The dashboard can be customized to add most used functions...

Here's my questions:
What CPU's can this guy be upgraded to? It runs fine as is, (sins of a solar Empire at max settings 4x AA and not a hickup, Don't know frame rate, don't really care, as my eyes are things that matters)
I tried doing research into what processors it will accept, but I'm unclear and I haven't seen any posts.
If my Front Side Bus is 800mhz, is that restricted by the CPU itself or by some chipset on the Motherboard?
Also I've read that there some problems with the Sound Card drivers (IDT HD audio) and also that the Blu-Ray player wouldn't work on some of the same model numbers that were sold at Costco. I have not had a chance to test the blu-ray player, but my Audio driver has yet to consume 50% of the CPU usage, at anytime (knock on wood).
As you might have guessed I don't have a steady Internet connection, so I'm pretty much just cleaning out alot of the HP junk except for the stuff that has been integrated to deeply and I can just hide away, and so far it's worked pretty good. I have Adobe CS4 Master Edition installed and It runs all those programs wonderfully
I have an hp compaq nx6330 (ex856av) using windows xp. last may, the screen turned black (i was told i need to replace the lcd), so i decided to use a generic external monitor. a couple of months ago, i had to have it repaired and the repair guy said he'll upgrade the OS to windows 7. things were working fine for about a month then the screen (external monitor, since the laptop screen is dead) starting having vertical gey lines (the entire screen). i played with the resolution and i was able to get rid ofthe lines a couple of times. are the lines due to using windows7? can this particular model handle any OS besides the one (windows xp) it came with?Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about buying several laptop stands for my employees and was interested in a product called the Laptop Flip (see picture below). We need to raise our laptops for ventilation since they stay on all day.
In addition this stand holds laptops in the vertical position. I like the idea that we can save desktop space by storing our Dell's vertically but wondered is there are any issues with storing a laptop upright?
I recall reading a couple of months ago about a new xps line coming out. In fact it was one of the reasons i passed on the m1330 but i havent seen any news about any new ones.
Anyone know if/when they are scheduled for?
I am considering a VAIO FW series.
1. Does this series use BIOS or EFI?
2. Is the BIOS (EFI) locked down so that one must struggle to make adjustments, troubleshoot hardware etc?
3. If so, can it be unlocked?
4. Is it easy to upgrade the RAM, processor and hard drive?
Well I read a lot of this, I think I have it now. My display going again to shutdown and appears the vertical lines of Apocalipsis!!!!
A video that I saw in you tube
YouTube - nvidia gpu failure dell xps m1330 graphics / video problems, vertical lines what's going on?
I have the same thing, still external monitor works.
The question is that I still have warranty? my dell warranty expires the past august so I dont have dell warranty. Still I read that GPU warranty is extended one more year.
I have 4 vertical lines almost equal distance apart on about 1/5 of the left of my screen on my Dell Inspiron 9300.
My assumption is the video card. I believe a soda got on it and that the previous owner tore it down and attempted to allow it to dry.
I have an old Dell Inspiron 8100 and wanted to ask if there was anyway that video card might fit the 9300? That would be a quick fix where it could be used immediately.
If not, I would really like to mod it out, but have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Any ideas or proper parts to look into would be greatly appreciated. Add speed, get better video, etc. Can I purchase a different motherboard that would fit inside?
I bought a Dell Studio 15 last week. It arrived yesterday and the first thing I noticed when I turned it on was that there are tiny vertical lines all over the screen. They're not always visible, mainly just on brighter colours.
They're not colourful lines, they're almost transparent. It's definatly not the same lines caused by the overheating problem in the XPS series. These look a lot different .....
I have been a SUPER happy customer with my M1730. I originally owned an XPS Gen 2 (way back in the day). My question is, are they going to make a new successor to M1730? It's been a while, I've seen DELL come out with the new lower XPS line (13/16). Also now with the Adamo. However, I see no mention of further XPS 17XX. Have they discontinued it?
I know they purchased Alienware, but I just don't like Alienware, it looks a little to geeky for me.
If they took the M1730 and just upgraded the board so we could get the 1333Mhz RAM + G270M Video card + QuadCore (However, I'm pretty happy with my X9000)
I'm a bit confused and not too knowledgeable on the latest line:
what are the major differences, and/or the pros and cons between the differences of the inspirons and inspiron Z notebooks?
i.e. Inspiron 14 vs Inspiron 14z
wondering when you guys speculate the new line of XPS laptops will come out?
I'm anxious to see if they'll have an upgrade to the 2010.
I asked Acer hotline over the phone for the service guide to my TravelMate laptop, and a very friendly hot-line-guy told me to get it from retrevo.com or from laptoprepair101.com - both sites, however, have been told (from Acer or ?) not to host the Acer service guides any more.
One or two compagnies still seems to have them for sale, but as I don't have any possibility to buy over the net - and don't find it reasonable, either, to pay for the guide to a computer that was expensive enough when it was bought ...
I can find a lot of reasons for Acer (and other manufact.) not to include the service guides in the box together with new laptops - and I might even be able to find good reasons as well for not making it too easy to get the guides at the internet - as long as the products are still produced or as long they are newer than 2 years - but after that time I cannot find any reason at all why they still want their customers to pay for the service guide at a 3.part compagny.
It's UNREASONABLE and UNFAIR - so next time I buy a laptop I might look for another brand with a little more customer friendly policy.
As a matter of fact it is dangerous not to clean the cooler now and then - not doing it might in the worst case cause a fire, so as long as they don't mount a little 'door' to open for removing dangerous dust-cakes they should at least let the service guides be reachable from their service hot-line.
Acer hot-line has no techniciants and nobody there knew how to clean the cooler but admitted that it's important to do it - uncool, unhot or unacer ...
When will Sony release a new line of notebooks instead of just a refresh? Will all of them be replaced at the same time?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a year old babied XPS M1330 with Nvdia 8400GS videocard.
Its been sitting on a desk connected to 2 Dell 23'' (S2309W) screens for months. One connected via HDMI and other using VGA.
The VGA is producing vertical lines flashing. As if there is noise!, i've swapped the VGA and HDMI cable and problem is produced on other screen
I've also tried another VGA cable. Also tried changing the refresh rate from 60 to 59. Still nothing.
I have an xps2 that has gone thru about 5 screens over its extended warranty (all vertical lines) now 1 month out of warranty the latest replacement is getting lines.
how to get dell to replace it or is it just sop to just replace with defective parts til the warranty runs out?
