Currently, the bios is updated but it is still happening though the update made the touchpad to become more responsive than before.

Feb 9, 2013I love the hardware design of the XPS 15, except that the touchpad is unusable for scrolling. My old Latitude 6520 at least could use the scroll zones well, but with the buttons on the L521x being part of the touchpad, the horizontal scroll zone impacts button usage and isn't worth it.The big issue is the multi-finger scrolling jumps significantly when lifting fingers. I've tried every version of the driver I could find, and they all have this issue. If you make sure you completely stop scrolling before lifting fingers, then lift one at a time, I can usually avoid the jump, but that take more time than just using the keys to scroll.
Is there a way to either disable horizontal scrolling using scroll zones or fix the 2 finger scrolling to not jump? Except for that issue (and some sporadic wifi issues that my be fixed with newest driver), this laptop would be perfect for me.

Jan 4, 2015My new inspiron 15 has an issue with the touchpad - the two finger scroll functionality breaks at irregular but very frequent intervals.
I'd spend 15 minutes on the computer and I'd suddenly not be able to use any multi-finger gestures on the touchpad, specifically the two-finger scroll. I've noticed that at that point, pinch zoom doesn't work either which leads me to believe it's a general issue with multi-finger gestures.
Restarting the computer always fixes it.
I can't tell if this is a hardware defect or a software issue.I've reinstalled the latest touchpad drivers from dell but it has made no difference.

Mar 10, 2015I have been trying to find out how to deactivate the two-finger tap right click function of my ELAN-touchpad (on my Aspire V3-571, Windows 8.1), as it frequently bothers me when writing. The touchpad is located so that part of my left hand rests on it when writing. When I then try to use it with my right hand I often zoom [now deactivated] or open the context menu. I also sometimes randomly jump to a different part of the text, continuing my writing there.
I found several tutorials explaining how to activate the two finger tap, but none of the given solutions worked for deactivating it again.
What I've tried:
1. Going to the ELAN-options and deactivating it under "multiple-finger gestures".
The problem is that there is no field for two-finger tapping for me. I have "zooming", "scrolling", "turning", "Three-finger-Tap", and "swiping with tree fingers" [all translated from german, so they might not be exactly called that in english].
What more wonders me is that under "one finger gestures" there is the "tap" option. And beneath the tick-box to de/-activate it it says "One Finger: click/choose"; but it does not say "two fingers" for example.
2. Changing it via regedit
I've found sites suggesting manually changing something in the registry. However the frequently given locations of the registry does not seem to apply to my machine, so I cannot find the keys I need to change.

May 18, 2010I've just bought a used Dell Latitude D830 (UK, XP SP2) and find the touchpad won't scroll. Otherwise pad, trackpoint and buttons all work ok.
I went into Control Panel assuming that the scroll areas weren't set up. Not so - unlike on my old C640, there are no separate Synaptics set-up tabs. Nothing - and it claims there's a Microsoft mouse plugged into PS2 .

Nov 17, 2014I bought a dell xps 13 a few months ago. I was pretty happy with its performance untill a few days ago, when its touchpad refuses to scroll periodically. While it is refusing to scroll, other multi-finger gestures like zoom, pinch etc work. Also, touchscreen scroll and mouse scroll also work. Problem doesn't go away even if I disable and re enable the driver. It sometimes goes away on its own, or on restarting the computer.
